Customer service rant but not what you expect.
LAone replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
this is awesome. i can only wish the the customers that come into where i work would think like this. i had this guy come in looking for a part that we use to stock. we haven't sold any in several years, so now we dont stock it. i told him that and he still had the nerve to come behind the counter and look for himself saying "maybe you dont see it??" i told him, "yeah well, i've only been working here for 7 1/2 years now...what would i know what i have in stock, right??" i have been yelled at, cursed out and have to deal with racist people at times as well. i have never been a jerk to any type of retail person and i wont start now, but the ones i really can stand dealing with are the rude dumb parts counter guys/girls at autozone. i have plenty of stories of dealing with those know nothing dorks...too bad thats pretty much the only place near by. -
thanks for the reply. i shot my celica straight from the can and thought it was too thick. so now ill decant it from now on. thanks again. that color would look great on a lowrider...
-
thats a nice color. did you shoot it out of the can or airbrush?

there are 2 ways for me: 1st: unfortunately my LHS that i love to go to is now further away from me. 34 miles instead of the 14 miles that it was back before november. so now, i only go once a month for their 3rd saturday meet. if i go anytime before that, its in my wifes car that gets 2 times more milage per tank than my bucket...lols plus, i only go to buy supplies and sometimes ill buy a kit or 2. 2nd: other people that are affected by gas prices. i sell off random car parts and sometimes some kits that i have an extra of, well those guys or gals that use to buy from me, now can't because they need to save money for gas. sometimes i get lucky and sell off a bunch of things or not much. i work in fontana, currently the cheapest price in a 5 mile radius for 87 is 4.19.9 and the most expesive for 87 is 4.41. near my house in highland you can get ampm gas for 3.87 IF you buy a large pizza (didnt know they sold pizza)or large bag of ice! wow, now would i really have saved money for the 6-8 gallons that i get? i need to find out how much that pizza costs and if its any good...my fridge makes ice..lols since its about the hobby, i wont go into the other details that it does affect. most have been covered by others already.

that is once clean 32... great looking interior, im really liking the piston shift knob.
-
shane, when ever available, i get them from hlj.com or hobby search. sometimes they pop up on ebay too. they do sell quickly and dont often get restocked. thanks glenn, hope to see those builds posted sometime soon. i have too many kits in my stash to even think of what i should build next...

wow, dave. guess i gotta come to this thread more often. i love what you have done to your R34. awesome chassis details and those are by far some of the best license plates i have seen.
-
hahaha, allen...not to that extent...that dude looks funny, but i dont think ill be able to find a scale figure of that....lmao.

ok, so what would a shakotan build be with out some crazy exhaust design??? i was thinking instead of straight pipes or victory pipes, why not a star pipe! the inspiration for this is the ever popular Soarer. i did not make the star shape. its from the aoshima boso posey set.
-
can i use the word WOW! that is HUGE...lols. its looking great man. keep up the great work.
-
thank you dave. i greatly appreciate the compliments. it sucks that my batteries died. the pic i wanted to take was with the exhaust pipe im debating on using...tonight i will.

haha, casey. now adays all the parts are available to get camber like this. NRCA's(negative roll center adjusters), extending the arms and or adjustable arms with a heim joint as well. its actually by aoshima. like mike states, it the "gran-chan" kit. ill get a pic of the box later on. i always forget to do so, but on the other hand, i do have that tamiya LB grand prix kit as well. michael, they are ok. they still need work to get them not too look toyish. i would not build one OOB just cause the camber, wheel placemenet and height are not correct in my eyes. here are some adjustments i did tonight. it's as far as i got picture wise cause my batteries died, but i got the stance locked in. ill take a pic later once my batteries have charged up. this side is the corrected camber and height. and this side is with out correction. the spindle/shock on the left is how it comes OOB and the right one is the one i trimmed down to bring the wheels in more to lower and "flush" the wheels to the arche. along with that, you'll see the brakes that i'll be using. and yup, that big rotor fits these little wheels. hope you can see them.

ive been slowly working on this and my 67 impala. i have plans to finish both for a show/contest in may. so far it's all been body work and getting the stance correct. heres what the body looked like before using these tools i trimmed down the inner fenders. trimmed this in black marker. to get this, now it sits like so. worked on the suspension this time around. OOB it stands like this, wow horrible cartoonish camber and height...thats no bueno(good) so i had to take action. after some chopping and sanding heres what i got. ahh, some better Shakotan stance. nice and low with nice clean camber. it is the actual stance that im going with. ill be gluing in the rear tonight. i started work on the chassis. im filling in the holes that are there for the "motorized" parts. as soon as i finish this. ill be shooting primer on all my parts from this and the impala build as well.

hey mike, yeah i just got a hint of how to get his number. ill be calling him tomorrow. thanks.
-
anyone hear from him?? i have been emailing him once to twice a month, havent heard from him since october. i have an order that was suppose to be ready a while back already. i understand he's a busy person and does this on the side. but communication is not that hard to do. im at the point where i just want my stuff back and willing to take what ever he has made. i see daniel spoke to him on the phone, but i dont have his number...and im usually not the type to phone a person with out them giving me their number.
