1984 Custom Cadillac (California Wheels Edition) By Revell
mademan replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
it would be impossible without 2 bodies. The kit version is "90`d" ... you couldn't get a 2 door with the padded trim, it has to be cut down from 4 door. -
1984 Custom Cadillac (California Wheels Edition) By Revell
mademan replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Ive started converting one to stock.... quite easy. I filled in the side panels and made smaller lower chrome rocker trim. I went "bald top" on mine and shaved the padded top trim, opened up the side windows and rear window. I plan to use a combination of the 79 phaeton bumper/grill/headlights and the kit parts. -
$30+ kits - hows it affect you?
mademan replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ive cut way back.... Up here in Canada the recent releases... and not so recent have been up there for a while. The only Hobby Shop we have in the city I live in, Revell kits are $34.99-$46.00 and the Moebius kits are $46.99- $56.99. Sure I can get them online for considerably cheaper, but by the time you factor in shipping, etc. its about the same. I guess I havent really cut back so much as im allot more conscious of what I purchase now. In the past when a new kit came out like the Revell 2010 Camaro SS, or the Lowrider Cadillac I would order a case for the stash as I had so many ideas. I felt the same about the 83 Hurst Cutlass, however I waited until Micheals got one in and a 50% off coupon came up..... I guess ive reached a stage where I have so many kits in my collection already that I wont pay the escalating prices for more. Sure ill buy them, but with a coupon etc. -
Mikes Scale speed shop was doing the 2010 Challenger kit..... However he passed away some time ago and the buisness was sold, I dont think they make it anymore.....

Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
mademan replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I figured it was just Revells typical story to drum up sales.... Look at the Cadillac lowrider kit.... Huge demand for it..... goes discontinued..... people start selling it for 80-120..... Revell Re-issues it...... immediately goes Discontinued..... as soon as the demand is up there again.... OH look its comming out again this year....... -

Fireball Model works makes some nice ones. -
In the background are 2 of my other 67 Impala projects, a Nassau blue 67 SS, and a weathered "barn find' patina'd sleeper with a 6" outlaw cowl, which will feature a twin turbo LSx from clearly scale. also her is my 1:1 SuperSport... which I guess is why I have an obsession with building scale models.

Been doing a bit of work on another project, 67 Impala with all SS trim shaved. I still need to add the lower belt chrome and vinyl top chrome. I wanted a more Yellow gold, like Granada gold.... however my airbrush compressor went out and I am wanting to wrap up the build by the end of the month ( club build off).... so I settled for a can of '67 SierraFawn gold that it had for a while..... its actually way off, lol. I also made a split bench. I also added the i6 from a trumpeter Nova kit ( while not totally correct, its convincing) Ive done a bit of weathering on the chassis and frame as well as the engine, I just want it to be a fairly stock looking , mabey lowered a bit on either cragars and thin whites, or stock hubcaps. the frame is open and hollow... so I filled it all in before painting and weathering split bench made using a stock rear seat, and some sheet styrene shaved lower trim, and fender badges. filled low spots/sink marks and shaved all mold lines. the car will have a black vinyl top. and black interior.

White decals/Alps printer options?
mademan replied to mademan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
if I was better at editing and creating my own files, I have looked into buying an ALPS, there are a few good deals to be had on ebay right now. -
Im looking to have a few custom decals printed.... that have some white writing in the center, Ive contacted Keith Marks 5 or 6 times over the past 2 months and have heard nothing back. Does anyone have an alternate source for decals that uses an ALPS printer?
-
Im definatly not in any hurry to get my paint, but I paid on the 16th of August and the label was printed the next day, and I recieved an email from paypal noting that my parcel had shipped..... its now one month later and the tracking number is not valid and I have gotten no response. I know that I will get it, just communication from SF would have been nice.

Another ambiguous engine-Cadillac this time
mademan replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Its supposed to represent the Cadillac 390/429...... but its poor lol im pretty sure it was used in the 63-70 kits. -
My first ever real problem with a Modelhaus kit.
mademan replied to Ramfins59's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
if they cannot help you out.... search out Bob Cline on facebook ( if you have it) he has a large inventory of Original Re-chromed and aftermarket resin bumpers. Ive dealt with him lots in the past. -

Source for Yellow "Mod Top" Decals
mademan replied to mademan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
unfortunately thats more brown than I am wanting. I may try my hand at printing this onto a white decal sheet as a test.... as im sure ill wreck a few trying to get it on anyways. -
Has anyone got an alternate source for Yellow Mod Top decals than ebay? There is one seller that offers them at a cost of $9.00 US ($11.50 CDN) with $15.91 USD ($20.75 CDN) shipping...... which is a bit ridiculous since it should cost about a buck in stamps to send.

Who can make me these wheels?
mademan replied to freakshow12's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Get ahold of Daft Wheels on here.... He has done quite a few one off 3d printed wheels and parts for me. He is very reasonable, and does great work. here is his profile http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/profile/643-lownslow/ -
My paint order was paid for on August 16th..... and shows that the Label was printed on August 22nd, and ive gotten the tracking number, but nothing has shown up. It says that its 2 day parcel, and ive got it being sent to a buddy in Florida...... nothing yet. I really like the product and I understand that he is backed up, but I bit more communication via a bulletin on his site or something informing customers would have been nice. Ill wait for it to arrive though, no biggie as long as It shows up eventually, im a pretty patient person.
