  1. Thanks, Mike. Mine had the venerable inline six with manual 3-speed (column shift). Mine was a traditional survivor, however, your dad's being a hurricane survivor, well, I tip my hat.
  2. '55 Chevy (All original survivor). Model shows whitewalls and full caps, which I put on the 1:1 later, replacing the black walls and poverty caps, but I have no 1:1 images of that update. Sold the car in 1998 after 5 years of ownership, but wish I had it back.
  3. Gorgeous! Great execution, and attention to detail on this vintage kit! Well done!
  4. Any reason not to assume that the upcoming release of a "'55 Chevy Bel Air Street Machine," isn't the same old cartoonish "Bad Man" kit? Art looks great, and I see it's got a 327, but otherwise, has all the earmarks of the same old kit I remember.
  5. This kit was developed so long ago, in a time when "close" was good enough. Technology and Engineering was much more rudimentary. That said, I actually have come to appreciate these vintage kits for what they represent—a moment in the history of the hobby. They serve as a sort of a living history exhibit. They remind us to be grateful for what we have offered to us today. And, as shown in this example, scale fidelity aside, they make for a beautiful display if time and care are taken. Beautiful build! Made me smile to see one of these built and detailed so well.
  6. As I suspected. Good question regarding el camino bumpers, David. I have one, so will have to check it out. Thanks, guys!
  7. Just saw the new box art for the upcoming AMT re-release of the 66 Chevelle SS. I suspect this is the old Lindberg kit, however, it shows the standard bumper (no guards). Does anybody know if this release will in fact have the standard bumpers? Not a fan of the Lindberg kit bumpers with guards.
  8. Thank you. I wasn't seeking to hi-jack your thread, just shared the images to illustrate the hood issue you described. I had the same problem.
  9. Agreed on all counts. The kit is nice, but not without a few issues, the hood issue being the most significant. Nice job pulling yours together! Love the color choice!
  10. Gorgeous!! Great to see a new build from you. Always great work and attention to detail.
  11. I remember the "Shorty" craze of the early 70s. You've captured the spirit of it perfectly!
  12. Nice work. Interesting kits, I have one of each. My only real knock is on the stainless trim at the top of each of the quarters on the 57 Nomad that connect from the taillight to the rear side-windows. They seem to be short—something in between trim for a 150/210 and a Bel Air (Bel Air trim being the appropriate trim for the Nomad.) Shouldn't be too hard to correct, but curious, as they got it right on the convertible and hardtop kits. Anyhow, loved seeing your examples.
  13. As always, another great build, Chuck! Great detailing, and I agree with your choice of white for the bumpers/grille. Thanks for continuing to inspire the rest of us. Happy New Year!
  14. Looking forward to seeing this one, so as to re-create a family friend's car: John Grinwald's "Gold Digger"
  15. Beautiful work. Great attention to detail all around. Love the scale environment you created as well!
  16. Thanks! My first Moebius kit, but I couldn't agree more. Well thought out kit.
  17. Appreciate the feedback, Brian! Happy New Year!
  18. Love it!! As others have noted, the colors suit it well.
  19. Thanks, Charles, I appreciate the feedback. Happy New Year!
  20. Looks fantastic!! Can't wait to see the "Grandpa" edition. Your build illustrates the point that with attention to detail, box-stock builds can be every bit display shelf-worthy.
  21. Absolutely fantastic!! What did you use as the basis for this? Having just sold my 1:1 (pic's below), I'd love to recreate it in scale. Beautiful work, my friend!!
  22. Love everything about this build!! Clean execution, details where they matter most, stance. Beautiful job all around. Only nit-pick would be to remove the wipers, leaving only the posts, as they likely would have been blown off during the first pass down the strip anyhow! Love it,man!
  23. Lesser adorned (low trim level) cars never seem to get the love they deserve. Glad you recognized the oversight and created this homage to those great cars. Well executed, sir!
  24. Gorgeous! Love the color. Detailing is fantastic. Well done!
