  1. These were always my favorite Freightliners. I love the amazing detail you've done so far.
  2. Another thing to use for under cab insulation is aluminum foil.
  3. That is outstanding, I love the interior,
  4. If you can see the 2 pix, then I got it to work. I just had to type in the img code rather than being able to just copy and paste it,
  5. I wanted to post an update, but this site isn't letting me copy and paste the img links from photobucket, Hopefully this works. I thought this was fixed, but it's become a problem again. The trailer is nearly complete. Only minor details are left, The wheels are resin items bought off of ebay. 2 hole Budd wheels with separately cast hubs. The tires are Revell AG Pete 359 tires from my spares box. The next few updates will be focused on the truck. T Here is a quick mock up.
  6. That's exactly what it is.
  7. You did a great job detailing it so far.
  8. I sprayed the first coat of paint on the trailer today. I can see some more body work will be necessary, but at least it's easier to see what needs to be done as this finish highlights things. I used Model Master Metalizer Aluminum Plate buffing lacquer.
  9. Now for the trailer. I started with this ebay junker and.... ...along with 2 other junked livestock vans created this early 1980s 45 ft livestock van. My references were 1978, 1981, and 1982 Wilson livestock vans that were 46-48 ft long. I modified the rear by replacing the swing doors with a solid wall. As for the roll up door, I made a new one using ribbed sheet plastic to simulate a metal roll up door. I'm using resin 2 hole Budd wheels I bought from a guy on ebay. the hub is a separate piece. I modified the brake drums from an amt Fruehauf tanker to use with these wheels.
  10. Time to catch this one up a little. This is the truck I am currently building. It's not too far from completion if I can avoid too many more setbacks. I had to strip the paint and start over. The cab is repainted. Same color as before. Dupli Color DSGM347. Here's my progress under the hood. Modified Revell AG 359 radiator scratch built condenser. I'm using another modified snap kit grille. Headlights are from amt. Tee single headlight shown earlier will be used on a California Hauler kit. New deck plates.
  11. I've always thought the Australian Mack Valueliner to be a nice truck and yours is turning out great. The black and blue truck in the pic is sharp as well.
  12. I know you're building an Australian version, but here in the States dual air cleaners on a K100 usually meant a Detroit 12V71 from what I've read. I think that was the only engine option that had dual air cleaners as standard. I'm not sure if KW in Australia did the same thing.but hopefully that helps a little.
  13. What a cool project. I like what I see so far.
  14. When going with a single stack on a Kenworth , the air cleaner stack is usually where you have it. As to the frame warpage, it is something to look for with amt's truck kits. It's worse with this kit because the frame is longer than normal to accommodate the hauler body. Looking pretty good for your first truck kit.
  15. Great job on getting the basic shape and structure of this truck.
  16. I finished this one up back in the fall. It's the Paystar dump truck kit converted to a tractor. It's mainly box stock with minor mods. I shortened the frame, repositioned the rear suspension and added small ramps to the end of the frame. The winch tower is scratch built from parts trees, brass, amt Pete wrecker parts and other odds and ends. The winch itself is from amt's Pete wrecker kit with fishing line for the cable. Beacon lights are Auslowe items. The trailer is box stock minus the real wood deck. The whole unit was weathered slightly. The color is Rustoleum Construction Yellow from their line of farm tractor paints.
  17. That's a great looking trailer. It looks good behind either tuck.
  18. Nice job on the wrecker. I like the colors.
  19. This was started a few years ago and I finally was able to really sit down and finish it. It's the Freightliner DD kit with the SD cab and a shortened frame. Mods include a Detroit Diesel 6-71 engine, photo etch grille and other parts, as well as weathering and plumbing. Windshields, cab steps and convex mirror are home made. The trailer is amt's Fruehauf reefer with a side door added.
  20. I built this for a community build on another forum. It started as the Ford Short Hauler. I used the stake body, engine, transmission, and wheels from the Ford C series stake truck. Other mods include a hinged hood, working steering, and the rear lift gate from the short hauler van.
