With the re-release of the kit, I figured these pix might be useful. This is a set of 1973 Fruehauf dumps that were set up as a "Michigan Train" I copied from an ad in The Truck Paper 9 years ago. Most of the pix are of the second, or "pup" trailer. The lead trailer is longer. I found it easy to count the ribs on the box and make my cuts on the 2nd trailer accordingly. I will share other Fruehauf dump pix that I hope my fellow "scale truckers" can use.

Jim, I tried to examine the pic more closely, but I can't see the mounting brackets for the rear suspension to tell which one it is. Also, from what I can find, Watkins was mostly owner operator at that time. The fleet pic might be something where someone owns a small fleet, and leases it to a carrier.

I've wanted to build one of these myself. I was just going to section 2 ebay built-ups together that I bought, but I know it won't be easy to make it look right. Yours is definitely looking good. I can't wait to see how your finish comes out. I love the stainless reefers. -

Very nice. The painted tanks look nice as well. Like you, I hate the seam that shows up when the tanks are assembled. -

Nice build. -
I read somewhere that the L Series Fords had tilted engines as well. I think they mounted them with about a 15 degree tilt. That included 3406 CATs. The site where I got the engine pix was www.jobbersinc.com Is it just me, or does the darker colored engine look like it's painted a military green? Anyway, I'm glad the pix helped.

The instruction sheet I have lists the capacity as 40 tons. 40 ton capacity in 11 feet of space. Model LS3-40-S by Loadcraft. The kit I have is the 2002 re-issue(red trailer on the box with a construction site photo backdrop). No LoadCraft decals, but Loadcraft is mentioned as the mfg on the instruction sheet.
