When are we going to stop calling it "evilbay" ?
KingSix replied to Greg Myers's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Personally I love eBay, I've tracked down some hard to find stuff and to be perfectly honest I've scored some GREAT deals from people who apparently didn't realize the value of what they were selling ( or just didn't care ). I've even traded with some of the sellers on there ( outside of eBay of course ) . Not to say I haven't had some bad experiences on there, but you can have those anywhere ... If I find something I want, the first place I check is eBay to get a median value.. aside from a few dishonest sellers, I think it's great. Plus having the added security of eBay buyer protection and PayPal ( for those of us that use that option ) there's another level of protection. The only complaint I have are the shipping prices ( I know they a set buy the seller ) , but they are so "random" .. you really have to watch for those. They can turn a good deal sideways in a hurry ... -
Primer and paint in one ? Interior latex paint that "guarantees" it covers in one coat, but doesn't come close. With today's technological advances they can't make a paint that covers in one coat ? Really ?

I was just checking it out, aside from some flash and the seats being really narrow, I think it will look pretty good completed . Now If someone made GLHS decals, it'd be perfect.

That looks a lot like the one that was featured in HRM a few years back, the issue where they covered the Year One "Bandit" cars ..

Despite the fact I'm probably the grumpiest, most abrasive, angry person on the board, I LOVE Christmas, the lights, the music , all of it. Lights are going up this weekend and will be on every night until New Years..

New releases effect on originals

I'm of the notion it's all dictated by the buyer. What're are YOU willing to pay ? I got a lot of guff ( I say guff because I'm not allowed to say what I really think ) recently because I had " high expectations" on a kit I had up for trade. I was told, "because it's being reissued soon, it's just not worth what it was previously" long story short, I held to my guns and got pretty much exactly what I wanted for it. Look on eBay. The prices there are a good guide, but often times I can find the same kits differing in prices as much as $40. This makes no sense to me other than the seller is hoping they attract buyers that don't shop around. I myself could care less about the "collectors value" of a kit. I'm building it regardless. But there's always that tinge of regret when you open a kit that's been sealed for 30 years .. but I get over it quick .. -
I've never "needed" anything from there, but I've heard nothing but great comments about his stuff. I wish he'd post pics of his stuff tho. If he'd do that 4 door Coronet he was talking about years ago, I'd probably jump on that ..

I was just curious if anyone here had any experience in dealing with JBOT Decals ? After the Strada fiasco , I'm being really careful who I choose to do business with .

I took one of my brothers ship models ( Old Ironsides I think ) down to the river that was in our back yard.. then put the content of about 3 shotgun shells worth of black powder in it, wrapped in a baggie with duct tape, put it in the water and lit the fuse. It only got about 10 ft downstream before it went off.. it was LOUD and there wasn't much of the ship left and I was pretty sure I was going to jail. When I got back to the house my mother was out front talking to our next door neighbor . They both thought someone was shooting a gun.. sucess !!! I wasn't even a suspect .. it was a lllooonnnggg time before me an my buddy messed with that stuff again. Funny thing is, he's a cop now in the town we grew up in ..LOL

LOL, well said Bill. I'm getting kind of tired of people telling me what I know and don't know .. What I DO know is Pico had those amazing wire wheels done for $55.. straight from his mouth..
