Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
skymnky721 replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So sad to hear,,he was always fair w/me and was a fantastic builder,,RIP Harry. -
Thanks Beluga,,yea,,they maybe a bit large,,but they look ok actually in person,,the pics are " squeezed" a bit . I thought about just doing "straight tubes" w/no flares at top,,but the step spacer things from the hardware store work ok. When its done,,the black injector tips will make sense w/the paint layout+ highlights. Tan 2 tone interior,,and 3 different paint highlights on rims. Right now Im scratch building the injector linkages+ feul feed lines,,,that will be interesting,,lol. Thanks for looking,,and keep up the great work you all do!!

Thanks KWT,,yours are looking great also. S

Hey thanks DD,,it had a kit supplied roll bar,,which I ended up scratch building mine I like radius style corners for the upper roll bar,,the kit had this square looking deal,,And the motor wiring/plumbing was added by me. I also Sbuilt some headrests for the seats. And the front lower bumper air splitter. Most everything was pretty decent in detail,,I did have to clean quite a bit of flash off alot of the parts,,not a big deal though. The front steering set up works well,,a bit fragile,,but decent. I havent built the 1/20th gremlin,,but that would be a fun one also. It also comes w/2 sets of rims,,,slot mags or the rallys,,which are the ones I used. If you built the 1/20 Gremlin,,post a pic here,,Id like to see it. And if I dont get back right away in response,,its because Im limited on web time these days. Thanks again,,,S

Thanks so much,,you guys do great work also. Its a decent kit overall,,did have to clean flashing on many parts,,but it turned out ok.,,not a contest level,,but still fun,,cheers!

Hi all,,got this at a recent DAMM swap meet show,,10$-- 1/2 started glue blob. I ez-offed every thing,,and went for this burnt orange/root beer color ,,testors quik dry spray,,,and decided to change the intake of the big 427. as well. Hardware store nylon step washers/spacers {8 cents a piece} for the injector tips,,scratch built injector tubes,,gonna do a few other "non-normal" things to this one. Well see what happens,,keep up the great woks! S

Thanks sir,,,yes its a bit different,,but I get bored w/too much chrome,I like to accent off the main body colors,,keep up the great works! S

skymnky721 replied to ShakyCraftsman's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thats amazing,,,Great reference pics to learn how to make proper working steering set up,,and much more. This is gonna be a nice 57" -
Hi Jim,,the accent painting on bumpers,,rims,,sidepipes,,was painted with Testors transparent green metalflake. I like chrome and all,,but sometimes its fun to mix it up w/the paint layouts,,thanks for looking,,Cheers!

Hey all,,enjoy all the great builds here,,gotta be the best builders on the web today,,IMO. A recent build of MPC's 1970 AMX. I built it as a replica of my Dads 69' 1:1 AMX,,same color+ stripes,,changed the rim highlights a bit,,did some accent painting on the bumpers + sidepipes, added the blower{ my Dads was a 390 4 -speed w/carbs ,},w/ dealer factory "Go Package",,I remember always having to climb around the rollbar to get in back when dad and me and my older brother would jump in for what my Dad called " a sunday drive" lol. And off to MIS speedway to watch the early 70's Trans-Am cars race,,,All the ol" Stangs,,Cudas,,Javlins,Camaros, were there,,fun stuff. That car was a ground pounder,,As far as the kit goes,,it was a bit of x-tra work to clean flashing on alot of the parts,,but it was worth it. The working steering setup works well,,and most of it went together well. Keep up the great works out there,,,S

Greetings,,wishing all is well for all of you,,having raced MX for many years,,20+ or so,,when I saw this on tamiyas website,,,,HAD TO HAVE IT! Never ridden one of these,,but its a 2 stroke screamer ,,probably tough to handle around any track,,but what fun it still would be to ride. Similar to the Suzuki TM Cyclone 400 bikes of the day. {approx 1972-1975 era} No changes to the stock kit or mods,,just beautiful Tamiya engineering,,made the kit easy to build.,,and they supplied all the cables ,,metal axles+nuts. Both front + rear suspension work via kit supplied springs+ hardware. The kit sat on my shelfs unbuilt for 2 years,,so had to "get 'er done" ,,I would recommend this kit for anybody who enjoys bikes of this type from the day,,thanks for looking,,and keep the rubber side down. Thanks so much for the reviews,,its not as 'detailed" or "correct" as some stuff out there,,but Ive never really tried or cared to build "contest" level kits. I just enjoy the level Im at,,theres so many outstanding builds in this forum,,I enjoy them all. Its all about the hobby overall,,I think. And being able to express ones vehicle ideas in styrene+paint+rubber,,the most important 3 substances known to man.

Hi all,,what once started out as a busted up glue blob in a ziplock bag from the NNL Detroit recently{total of 10$} was an original issue 1964 revell triumph drag bike. I liked the original Triumph kit,,and havent seen one out there in a while, But,,,I wanted to do a "low tech, garage built by regular joe" type style Harley drag bike. Not a modern high end nitro harley drag bike One that some guy in his garage may have built by himself back in the day. . So some sections of this are from the Revell 1/8th Triumph Drag bike,,some sections are from the revell police bike kit{main frame} and front end is from the "softail" harley Revell snap kit from the 90's or early 2000's. The tanks are from the early Revell "triumphant trike" 1/8th kit. Rear frame section is triumphant trike frame trimmed to fit + added to police bike frame,. Motor is from the revell police bike kit also. Seat is the tamiya yamaha virago seat+ hand grips+levers are from the tamiya Ducati desmosedici bike. Special thanks to Mike @ Mikes decals for the nice size + fit harley decals that arrived in perfect condition in a timely manner. I called it the "DRAG-O-MATIC" as kindof a tribute to how cars + bikes back in the day always seemed to have a interesting name of some type. There may be other drag vehicles w/the same name Im not sure,,I did see a mention of a type of transmission direct drive type thing from the 50's w/the same name on the web,,but not much else. At any rate,,its a decent 10$ addition to the shelf. Best regards,,S

I won one of these from the "Builders showcase" on the tamiya site a few yrs ago,,never built it,,used it for x-tra parts for other bike builds,,great kit though,,your looks fab! -
Wishing you a speedy recovery,,most of all. Great project you have going!
