  1. yea I hear ya about the x-tra work to make things fit right,,I did have to use flat jewlers files to flatten mating surfaces on many pcs and had to jump around on assy steps to get mtr in,,back wheel w/chain and brake assy.,,,,but I really like the large scale bike kits, and they dont re-pop many of them.,guess thats why I consider it a "great" kit. maybe not so much the actual mfg part of it. With that said,,one of my next large bike kits to hit the workbench is the 1/6th TAMIYA Yamaha 250 YZ MX'r,,,now that should be a whole different animal as far as fit and assembly I would think. Good luck on yours!
  2. Whoa! Really great ,clean scooter. Love those colors.
  3. Yea,,I havent seen too many post about a final build of this one,,Im surprised ,,,its a great kit,,the front rotor+caliper assembly is tricky, though ,I had to install rotor to forks first,, up and in the caliper assembly,,and then insert front wheel,,and the stock kit gauges/speedo/tach were clear w/markings molded into,,looked ok,,but I replaced w/decal gauges from leftover decals bx from older kits. I left off the rear footpegs,,they mounted to the exsaust at rear,,didnt look all that great,,I may modify the rear footpegs+mount to frame as if they were folded up in the non-use position. Also added the cross bar support to handlebars,,gives it a Scrambler/GP look,,IMO. Look forward to seeing yours when you get it done! Thanks for looking.
  4. thanks so much,,yea,,I was trying to find pics of the 1:1 car on web before build,,,and theres hardly any pics of it,and I read that MPC commissioned Ohio George to build this car to promote the kit! I think the 1:1 car ran for only or a year or so. Thanks again
  5. LOL,,yea I thought that when I first opened the kit also. I considered cutting it out,,but decided to just go with it. It is strange though
  6. Neat set of bowties!
  7. Aunt Ruth would be proud! Nice clean mopar
  8. UUUmmm,,,??? I see a bit of squeeze,,not too much,,these came over from PB,,overall they look ok. Thanks for the comments,,I build ok stuff,,but theres way better in here than my stuff,,which is cool by me! Thanks again.
  9. LOL,,yea the "wing" it came with a small wing type object molded on but,,it needed more down force! Thanks for looking,,so many great builds here, yours included! Cheers,,S
  10. Hi all,,got this for 15$ at a recent swap meet,,neat kit,,had to change a few things, different back tires, opened up hood and removed the "scoop" that was hiding the big 429,,{had to be able to see that} it came as a "adjustable" wheel base to put it in different classes,,but as I mocked up the 2 different versions,,neither one was convincing looking. So I just picked the longer wheelbase version and went with that. Still had to dremmel open the front of the front fender inner twords front of car to fit the longer wheel base And added some x-tra "wing" to the trunk deck.. Other than that,,its bx stk,,w/a few lines hooked up. I dont have very many Mavericks in my collection,,so had to do this one. Thanks for looking. Cheers!
  11. Wow,,that has a great stance to it,,wonderful job!
  12. Looks great from here!
  13. sweet! Love the colors
  14. Happy summer !,,,hope its all good for ya'll. Been a busy season so far,,but I still have a bit of 'construction" time. I was working on this kit over the past month or so,and went out on web to look at some other builds of this,,its been out on market for a year or more,,but couldnt find very many "built" post about it. So,,got it done,,and thought "why not post it". I built a GP version of it kindof,,I like chrome as much as anyone, but I wanted a different style version of this iconic machine. So I took style cues from various race bikes I saw on the web,,and heres what I came up with. Thanks for looking,,and all the best to ya! S. Visit : GT 40 | Flickr
  15. whoa! Amazing,,love those tamiya kits,,fantastic works
  16. Thanks for the nice comments,, I like chrome,,but I also like "anodized" finishes,,so thats why I paint some of the bumpers, rims,,ect for color contrast,
  17. You are correct sir!,,I didnt have the panhead mtr for it,,wish I had,,so I just went w/the knucklehd that came w/the kit,,and if you look really close at the movie bike,,the rake is less,,meaning the front steering section is lower than this bike, and the frame on the movie bike is a stock sportster style or some variant , not a custom style like this one,I think the seat is just a bit different, also. And the kit came with a duel carb setup,,the movie bike has a single carb,,so I used a carb from an old 1/8 revell triumph mtr modified the intake setup ,,and used a 1/25th air cleaner from a car for the round air cleaner But I traded all those features being different ,,for at least having a "replica" of the iconic bike,,and when I look at it w/the springer front end,,it looks kindof cool in this style,,,hope that helps. Thanks for viewing,,all the best! S
