  1. This has been a project in the making for about 4-5 years. Most of what you see, was done in the first 3-months of the build, but I was able to get some work done by my friend Bob Dudek (the best machinist I know personally). I hope to get this one finished soon as I have promised Larry three of them, one for himself and the other two for his co-crew chiefs (his brother Steve McBride and Roland). Couple of pics include the side plates Bob so masterfully replicated in Aluminum for me. On the left is a plastic, styrene master I made for Bob to replicate. Price of plastic, $0.45; cost of my time, free; cost of part...$45/hr; expression on face when you receive the part, priceless: The side plate and the front brace (just in front of the output primary from the crankshaft). Also machined by master machinist, Bob Dudek The primary side plate on the bike with the front brace This is the side plate for the output from the transmission. It helps to stabilize the sprocket (over 1,400 HP and if you ever hear or seen them, they sound almost like the TF cars, wicked) In the following picture, I made the one on the left, free-hand and Bob copied it for me Here are a few links to some Youtube coverage of these bikes. Sub six second runs, over 240-250 mph:
  2. When I'm outside in my work room, I listen to the radio or my library of music on my Ipod. Old School Reggae for me too: Steel Pulse (the early stuff: Tribute to the Martyrs, Handsworth), All of Bob's stuff, Third World (the early stuff), Jacob "Killer" Miller (and the Inner Circle), Black Uhuru, Culture, Burning Spear, Dillinger, et al. Jazz: Boney James, Euge Groove, Earl Klugh, Najee, Paul Taylor, Fourplay (no, not the action, but the group), Joe Sample, Hiroshima, Norman Brown, Mindi Abair (man she is hot), Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, et al. Then there's old school R&B and Soul (Isley Brothers, Ojays, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Marvin Gay, Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire: EWF has some pretty interesting album covers too). And on Sunday mornings, Gospel.
  3. Gotta love those bow-ties. Nice job!
  4. Nice 1/43s, Scott! I like all of them, but the Stude looks the coolest to me.
  5. Nice build you have going. I liked those old MPC kits, but I haven't seen this one either. Can't wait to see it finished.
  6. Great job, Scott!
  7. Ditto! Not big on the "donk" movement, but that is some nice, clean detail you've got going on.
  8. Most of you probably don't watch Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns", but Mr. Brown has a saying that my son just loves to use; "what the what?". That thing is cool, though and I like all the brass work on the winch and towing assembly!
  9. I like both of them too, but the white one just grabs my attention. By the way, nice pun in your intro post

    '59 Caddy!!!!

Another great build, Marcos! I can only imagine what it looks like in person.
  11. Nice job, Curt! My great aunt had a jewerly store back in St. Thomas (USVI) and sold high-end diecasts of some of these old, open-wheeled formula cars (this was back in the early to mid 70s. She would give them to me and since I was only interested in playing with them, well...they aren't around any longer. If only I knew what I had back then...
  12. Very cool build!
  13. Ditto! I like the color and the graphics go well with it too. The wheel combination and detailing is nice too (steering wheel, open glove box, trunk with the speakers, etc.).
  14. Another great project, Bob (not that I expected any different)! The lines, stance, color, wheels and the whole look is perfect. I agree that the Jada kit offers better and crisper lines than others, however, the side mirrors are a little funky. By the way, the rear spoiler turned out rather nicely. Good luck this weekend in Anniston! I wish I could be there with you guys, but don't have my "road dog" right now and then my son, BJ's, birthday is Saturday and I don't think being out of town would go over well. It would have been good to have a picture of both the Maros taken next to each other (you know...like Ebony and Ivory ). I know, kinda hokey, but I couldn't resist.
  15. Ditto!!! Mike- You continue to amaze me with your exquisite talents.
  16. Ditto! Welcome back, Clay! Sorry to hear of your loss! And thanks for serving and protecting our freedom! Semper Fidelis!
  17. Another super, clean build, Marcos! Great job!
  18. Keeps me wanting to see more. Great job so far, Mike!
  19. What octane is this thing going to use? Just kidding. Great work, Mike! Keep it up!

Nice build. I like the body color and the wheel/color combination. Nice, clean engine-bay too! Got to love them bow-ties !
  21. Another great project, Cranky! One of my favorite subjects too...
  22. Looking good there, Bob! I hear you on the spoiler...it is a little anemic. Can't wait to see more.
  23. I really like this one, Scott!
  24. While I was stationed at Ft. Ord, CA., I bought me a used, '78 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta. Didn't do enough checking under the hood and after about a week, spun a bearing. Came to find out, the oil was "caked" under the valve covers. We used the On Post facilities to rebuild it. The guy that helped me to rebuild it took it on a drive to break it in and it spun another bearing. Then I had a Sgt. that was taking an engine rebuild class and he asked me if I would mind them using my motor. Had to take advantage of the offer since I was going TDY to Fairbanks, Alaska for 3-months of "cold weahter training". The day before I got back, the Sgt, while under the influence, got t-boned and it was totalled. I think the car had an omen, but to this day, Camaro's are my favorite.
  25. Looking good, Sil!
