  1. Yet another instance where I drool like Homer, that looks AMAZING! I love that bosy style and the paint looks excellent! Wheels look really nice tucked under it as well.
  2. Sveet, now I know what to do with mine! I only bought the kit for the engine. That looks VERY nice, the color and the wheels suit the chopped cab well, and the supercharger looks ultra cool!
  3. AGH! Second kit and no color!! The first one I bought stated that it was metallic purple...I opened the box with excitement...white plastic is all I found... I bought a second one today, it said "White or metallic red" but it was white too! I want a purple or red one! My Revell IMP was molded in metallic red...why can't I get the new one like that too?
  4. My collision instructor bought a Berry Mini T4 last fall, no motor and is sad shape, but by far IMO one of the coolest. It fits the a full size VW pan rather than cutting it down by the stardard 14 1/2" Here is an example, I would love to either find a resin body of this style or somehow make my own. I will snap some photos next Tuesday of his in the shop to post up here.
  5. So, I was reading the box bottom, they say, molded in metallic purple unless otherwise noted. When I opened mine, it was white... Fine I suppose, though I actually wanted one of the colored kits. So I traded it to my brother for a '69 issue of the Revell EMPI IMP buggy. Coincidentally it is molded in metallic red! So Virgil, if I happen to get another WHITE kit when I make my next trip to the LHS, I would be happy to trade you!
  6. Wow, everything looks great so far, sorry I couldn't join like I had planned, spent more time trying to relieve a massive headache and get my bug together...
  7. I hate you... No but seriously, any chance you would be willing to trade off that fruit wagon or the Meyer's Toad ?
  8. Yes, yes...
  9. Rick, sorry to hear, we sure will miss you...and hope to see you again in the future! If you don't mind me asking, what will become of your hobby stuff?
  10. Speaking of the Manx, I bought one the other day, and it CLEARLY states on the bottom of the box in the parts overview, "Molded in METALLIC PURPLE unless otherwise indicated" It also says "Molded in METALLIC PURPLE, clear and Transparent Blue" also on the bottom by the AMT logo, I was pretty exited to open the box and see how it looked in this "METALLIC PURPLE" but to my dismay, its all WHITE! AGH!!!! Now, I noticed another Manx kit at another LHS that, in the same places, stated "Molded in WHITE or METALLIC RED" WTF?? Anyway, thanks John, wish me luck in getting it registered this Friday, I already bought a 2 1/2" drop spindle kit and lots of interior stuff for it!
  11. Final specifications were completed in 1960, and construction took most of 1961. After preliminary testing, it was handed to the Army in February 1962, and shipped to the Yuma Proving Ground, in Yuma, Arizona. In testing under the "Project OTTER", for "Overland Train Terrain Evaluation Research", the vehicle performed well. But in the end the Army gave up on the idea as newer heavy-lift helicopters like the S-64 Skycrane made the train concept outdated. The vehicle remained unused for a time, and was then put up for sale for $1.4 million in 1969.All that remains of the Mark II is the control cab which remains at Yuma, the rest was sold off to a local scrap dealer. The lead car was restored some years ago and described as shown in the picture. Unfortunately, the trailers were scrapped in 1971. Additionally, another unit was located in a scrapyard in Alaska. Bob Chandler purchased a set of tires from one of the trailers at some point and rebuilt Bigfoot 5 to be permanently fitted with these 10 foot tall tires.
  12. ALRIGHT! I'm in with a boat and a VW. Maybe another if I can find it!
  13. What's this I read about a 3-day build?
  14. Well, This week was a great week for me. I sold my '79 Nomad for $1200, bought a '66 Beetle for $750, and picked up a bunch of kits and a few other things. The Beetel runs/drives, has the original 1300 engine, NO rust in the pans. No title with pre '69 CA plates and Air Force base tabs on the front bumper. but I have a paper trail tracing back to CA DMV stating that they have no longer have any records for this cars VIN. So, I am having it inspected next Friday, then I can get new title/registration. The kits I picked up today at the local club meeting/LHS. My plans for the Bug are pretty simple. I am going to clean and repaint the wheels, and replace the rear tires. I ordered a new carpet kit, new exhaust, lights, interior door/quarter panels, mirrors, and 2 1/2" drop spindles for the front suspension. Going to drop it up front, maybe a bit in rear, and leave the body in its pretty patina. I also have a roof rack with wood slats to mount up top. The day after I bought the 1:1, I went to a LHS to get some parts for my Nitro RC, and saw the Tamiya '66 Beetle kit, HAD to have it! The rest I picked up today, also bought new engine/wheels/tires/body for my T Maxx 3.3.
  15. Geez, where does that one fit in me?
  16. I LOVE this topic! I'll have to dig up some photos!
  17. LMAO! Are these two related? *Sprays primer into old sock*
  18. I have three grandchildren, two boys, 4 and 2 1/2, and a girl that for some frickin' reason I can't remeber how old...a few months anyway. TJ being 4 now, is a car nut, but also being roughly 2,200 miles away, I don't see often if at all. I do have a shot of him painting what I think is a pinewood derby car from last year. His birthday is coming up so he will officially be 4 in a short time, I will be sending him some things (snap kits, paint etc.) I know his parents are more than willing to help him learn. Jordan at almost 3, is REALLY interested in what I do at my hobby desk, when there isn't Thomas the Tank Engine in the tube he is all about standing and watching quietly. He LOVES to drag new kits from the shelves and "inspect" them, and I am impressed at how careful he is! So, in all, I am working on getting them into the hobby, slowly...
  19. Well for now it is under glass, and somewhat of a curbside build. Waiting on detail stuff to finish the F/I 427 under the hood. I used a '57 Belair grille insert, 4th gen Camaro seats, steering wheel, tail lights, wheels all from the parts stash and a scratch build console. Lots of filler and sanding to fix the many blemishes in the cab. MM "Ford" purple lacquer over black base and lots of clear. Hope you guys like it, comments and criticism welcome!
  20. I'm down for atleast two of each! LETS DO THIS!!
  21. Here is what I pickep up today, I was named model builder of the year at our local club (hence the giant trophy) and picked up some kits for $5 each at the meeting today.
  22. 2013 XD Looks like you are pretty far ahead of the rest of us! Pics are fuzzy but what I CAN see looks great! Love the flame thrower detail on the exhaust tips! The antenna placement is nice too!
  23. SMOOTH!
  24. So, it is essentialy a Corvette with some Olds parts in and on it?
  25. Interesting idea, this first thing that came to mind when I saw it was this:
