  1. Yup. The Bee looks great and you've made good progress. Jonathan makes some good points. Take a closer look at your obstacle and don't let it defeat you. None of these things are perfect anyway, once you push past it you'll be glad you did. I look forward to seeing the finished Super Bee.
  2. I've been to Manny Soto. Between Wisconsin and North Dekoto.
  3. Now that's class all the way. Dashboard is amazing. How did you get those numbers so good?
  4. It's actually across over in Moorhead, Hobby Hut in the Easten Mall (Hwy 10 between Moorhead and Dilworth). Mark's shop has shrunk a bit but he's got the major stuff, he's always a vendor at the local toy show, can special order anything and he hosts the IPMS model club in his store every month. The last owner/operator hobby store in the area.
  5. Maybe a little more unsympathetic than when you acknowledged the loss of Al's Hobby in your town, but it's just looking back on fond memories. Gagers used to be in Fargo too. The bad news is it closed long ago. The good news is that one of the co-owners went on to open his own hobby shop and it's still around, still giving personal, first-name-basis service and hobby support.
  6. I partially agree. I also think it depends on what kind of fundamental character you bring to the table. I know folks for whom a lottery would destroy them, but they're relatively content now. I also know second-hand a family that won $200-million. Their lifestyles are a little more fabulous but otherwise is unchanged. Still good family who still love each other and pretty much retain their old morals and value system.
  7. That's a beauty. Nice work on an enjoyable subject.
  8. Looks great Al. Took a while for the post '66 GPs to grow on me but they really did. I'd like to do a '68 the way it appears in "Goodfellas."
  9. That's why you should build it.
  10. That's what you get when kids in Bel Air take to the water. Cool beans.
  11. May 24, 1988 I was doing morning rock radio and had the opportunity to see the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour for FREE, just by hosting a rock bus to the Metrodome. I'd just done one for David Lee Roth and it wore me out, so I passed on Floyd. Biggest regret ever. Friends, cousins, strangers went and no one said it was just okay. Every single one said it was the most amazing concert they'd ever been to. I remember it also being the highest rated concert of the year by either Rolling Stone or Billboard.
  12. Pretty cool. There's more to the kit than I thought and I'd like to have that engine in my arsenal. Nice work.
  13. Just continuing Roger's thought, here are some other (quick rough) examples of two and three color combos. These are less about the colors I selected as they are about the space the colors occupy. Some Impalas did have vinyl tops so a painted fastback top wouldn't be awkward.
  14. This is really exciting David. Exactly the kind of subject that gets me stoked and you do impressive work too. My update is the Torino is silent, model bench quiet. Not home much these days.
  15. Late entry? Heck it's not even June. Jump in.
  16. Now we know what Bob Falfa did with his insurance money. Pretty tough. I thought you had a great run on the 24hr build, you did most of it, but I knew it was doomed from the start with posable wheels and opening doors. You'd have had a satisfying finish with a less involved build. Glad you finished it, it looks great. Speckling was risky but I'm okay with it. Wheels are perfect.
  17. Might as well double post that one Bill, one in each thread.
  18. I'd hate to miss it this time but it's looking iffy. Toller puppies due that week. Maybe if I do a down & back that day.
  19. I have a sentimental soft spot for these and I hope mine comes out as nice as yours when I'm done.
  20. These are great Harry. You have an accomplished level of patience (and technique of course). Some winners there. I love Illustrator too. I like the file sizes and being resolution "free." But for as much time as it takes to perfect a gradient mesh, you might as well use PS and just paint it. An added benefit of regular PS use is it's developed my eye for using my Badger airbrush in my modeling.
  21. I got that way when I used to have asparagus. The first shoots to show in spring and the first to cut fresh before anything else really started.
  22. Outside of Tulsa, it has no value. You can forget about museums, civic administrations or municipalities, they'll never want it and taxpayer money shouldn't be spent on it. Miss B's only hope is as a business promotional or private display. It should go back to Tulsa and be displayed at a 50's theme bar, cafe or tourist spot. It's a minor piece of fun Tulsa history only and a private entity there should take advantage of its novelty.
