We're 13-days into an 11-month build. We're still at the beginning so feel free to jump in with a contender Jesse. Show us your starting point then have fun.
The Torino gets a facelift fore and aft. At the rear I've lopped off a scale 6-inches and added a piece from my inherited parts box so I couldn't tell you what it's from.
In the front I'm using the custom grill and lower chin from the 64 Chevelle wagon. Just had to slightly trim the sides to fit.
The lower piece dropped in unchanged. Still need to re-nose the hood to fit the grill better. Giving it a fender treatment now so I'll have photos when it's ready to present.
Likewise, my best friend had a '71 charger this same color. Only one I ever saw. Fond memories in that car, he had 5-slot aluminum mags. I don't think he had the RT version.
You are an artist Ira. Your imagination, execution and results are a delight. I'd love to see your parts room. I also admire your courage to slice into everything you get your hands on. I'm too conservative in that way.
I think that's a good call August. I love to see those T-Birds built, but they can be a challenge to build them with the kind of details we'd be happy with. That's why mine remains unbuilt.
Peel and stick vinyl whitewalls is sometimes discussed on this forum as a cheap and attractive way to beautify tires. My experience is after a couple years they react with the tire vinyl and get ripply, wavy and need to be removed. If I remember later, I'll try to post some photos.
Likewise. Pooling through your thread with one eye on the TV, I wasn't reading closely and I thought it was real... until it was tipped. Not just a nod to your build but your photos too.
On the contrary, my understanding is the FAA is one of the obstacles. They are a safety agency and they don't delight in the idea of fallible, propeller driven machinery flying willy-nilly carrying containers over the heads of the general populace. These aren't your local hobbyists flying their R/Cs down by the motor park.
I hate to be nay-sayer but I see epic fail on this. Even if the technology works, I could see it being derailed anytime they deliver near beer.
I had a very nice sheet produced by a local laser printer, I provided the white and clear sheets. However I'd also designed the graphics in Illustrator and Photoshop so resolution was high and crisp. Not sure who you could go to for metallic ink printing. I have a Pantone color book that shows metallic inks so I know they're out there.
Precious little time to build, but that said, I did redo the dash. Not spectacular but it's more suitable. I'll get pics up after the holidays settle a bit in a day or two.
Might as well start now Tim. By my clock, you and anyone else east of the Atlantic are approved to start.
August, Nice choice, looking forward to seeing this built. Pretty big for 1/24, maybe look for parts in 1/20 and see how it looks.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about. What a transformation!
If the quality of the window damage is consistent with the quality of the rest of the model then yeah, they'll buy it.
I suspect there would be fewer redundant questions being asked if there was a search function to go to first. Yes, I know that (ironically) there is a pinned thread on how to bypass the forum search function, but isn't it like throwing out the baby with the bath water? You know many handfuls of folks didn't use the pinned threads and that's what's determined they be set loose. But how many did use them, benefited from them and returned to them when needed? You don't know?
Afraid I can't join, but FWIW, I love following this and look for it every year. The kit choices are interesting and just seeing what different folks can do in 24 hrs, even if they're not finished.
