  1. That's fantastic. A nice clean, dirty build. Good work.
  2. Well, that blows. You're a staple, man! Maybe it won't show in photos. Is there enough done that you can set together what you've got? (...and take bad pictures? )
  3. The fender cuts almost look like deer antlers. If you're into that kind of thing and if you're good at camo or can scrounge some camouflage decals for the body it could be a theme build. I personally wouldn't do it, I'm not a hunter but it could really work.
  4. Base Citation is about the only way this car makes sense and you did a great job. I like all your choices. It's also just nice to see how this kit builds up.
  5. Yeah. Stunning!
  6. This is the kind of build that got me into modeling as kid. Factory stock with plain Jane colors. It has a sentimental warmth like Americana. I love every bit of this Bruce. Split manifold, the sleeper of the day. And that stance is dead on, is that kit quality or did you adjust? Thanks for sharing.
  7. Yup, colors seem right at home. This is a good example for the youngsters about what ya can do with what ya got.
  8. It had a good run, made its mark and made a couple shop guys millionaires, but I think it kind of "jumped the shark" when it started following Mikey's departure and journey of self discovery. Not that that's what killed the show, only that that's around the time when viewers with already waning interest couldn't muster any more care. It had been on life support since.
  9. Another reason why central midwesterners should put down and step away from urban slang.
  10. Matthew that blue is gorgeous. I'll have to file that away. Testors? Have LOTS of fun with that windshield. In quick order I learned the curved kit glass of my '60 Revell doesn't remotely fit the frame so I cut a new one out of acetate and it fought me for an hour with annoying results. Better luck on your AMT. Adam, I don't know what impresses me more, your surgical expertise with a dremel or your kahunas to get that involved at this stage. Whether you make it to the line or not, I look forward to seeing this take shape.
  11. Supplementing all the of the above... Contest Participation Rules. 1) Bring what ya got. Competition may be what brings ya'll together but entrants and visitors mostly just want to see tables of cool models and talk to you about yours. It also supports the host club. 2) Someone else's model will always be better than yours, except when it's not... and even then. 3) Money doesn't build models. Expensive aftermarket bling only makes people judge your skills harder. $50 in ham-handled photo etched parts and squiggly wires looks worse than a cleanly executed piece with no bling. 4) Time is relative. Setting a deadline can be good for achieving goals but it can also make a you a slave if you get behind or it starts taking you away from other things (or people) you enjoy. Part of the time it takes to build a model is the time it takes to walk away from it now and then. 5) Judges are idiots when you lose... wise and insightful when you win. Now reverse. 6) The presiding judge is usually a coin so don't despair over a loss or gloat over a win. 7) The more vendors there are, the less important your model is. 8) The thrill of victory only lasts as long as it takes to brag to your friends. Most of whom are just being nice. 9) If model building is homework, then contests are labs. You'll learn more in one day at the tables than in months at the bench. 10) All anybody really wants are the door prizes anyway.
  12. Whoa! Wicked, wicked, wicked.

The helmet is a nice touch, but you better include a will.
  14. Hey, if it's in scale, and it appears it is, why not? Good enough for pics.
  15. Prior to, say, DSL internet, I never had much industry knowledge and I had long assumed the old AMT & MPC molds were either long gone or damaged beyond repair. To find out they still existed and are useable is like Christmas. I too have never objected to fiddly flaws and have never joined the voices bashing the old kits, especially if the other choice is nothing. Now I hope there are enough hobbyists buying to make them glad they did. Hazzah Round 2.
  16. Excellent Adam, I look forward to any progress. Andy your post reminds of a past thread about what makes your builds stall out. I'm kind of there with you on the BMF.
  17. Wow Michael, that's intense. Pretty powerful story. I hope those who are trying to quit will take something from it.
  18. I need to start.
  19. The decals look right at home on that Rob. Looks like everything's laying down pretty good for you. That's gotta be a relief. Niko, I can't believe how much you're getting done in a short amount of time. All of it looks great, your extra effort shows.
  20. Not too surprised. It may be repercussions from a small quake I heard about last week that I think was about 100-miles off the eastern seaboard. Only notable because it was on the heals of Sandy. No ill-effects from it though.
  21. Me likes. I'll bet it was fun to build too.
  22. That, to me, is the purest form of modeling. Doing something you have a fond emotional connection to, drawing on those memories as a reference, reliving the 1:1 build to some extent and ending up with a killer recreation of your car. Can tell this was a labor of love and you remember every inch of it. Really a well done, authentic piece.
  23. I'll see your CCR and raise you Manfred Mann. [media=]
