Then you might amused to learn I intentionally didn't buy Krylon because I thought it was lacquer. I wish the labels were more clear about these things. Oh well, better to learn late than never. Thanks for the info.

Aaaargh! Really? Really!? Haven't we been through this already!? The paint had been flat, which looked fine. But after some consideration I decided to throw a coat of Rustoleum gloss on it... and... well... time for a swim. Then see if I can figure out that custom mix of color again. (Remember kids, don't forget to prime).

That's neat Nick, I like it. Regarding the Fury, I admire your optimism.

Billy, forgive me if I've said this before, but your modeling skills grow by leaps and bounds. As good as your skills have been in the last couple years that I've been tuning in, each project you do enters all new territory. I love the classic cruiser styling cues of this one and it's really well executed. Nice work.

Lovely clean build Carl. Who can't love the Pinto? Well, I love to look at it anyway, a sentimental favorite. No offense Bill but our family '73 was a piece of #$%. Had to take a running charge at hills. Engine was shot by 70K miles. But it was a very handsome wood paneled wagon.

Sven, those are exquisite. If those don't inspire some model building, I don't know what will. Anytime you feel the urge to "inspire" us, please do so.

Don't be too hasty Rob. I doubt anyone will see the eyeball any closer than your pic and it looks xxxx fine to me. I appreciated it even more after a productive evening tonight and was painting pieces about that size. Considering your results I had a new appreciation for what you've got. Unless of course you mucked... well, anyway. Ron, that blue may be dark, but that's about right for how I remember some of those early 60's mopars. Frankly, I'd say a pretty good choice. Erik, you've got some work to do, but I'd sure like to see you pound it out. Remember, this is mostly a build/photo contest, so I look forward to you getting far enough to at least display for nice pics. Besides, I GOTTA know how those balls factor in.

Remember when I thought this teal interior was so awesome and would go with gold perfectly? Well it DOESN'T! Though they're complimentary colors It's too bright and makes the whole car look like a jar of Jolly Ranchers. Since the airbrush was going to be out, I muted the colors and tried a little harder to get it closer to the colors of the 1954 Olds F-85 concept car I've been using as an inspiration. It's aesthetically much more pleasant on the whole with the gold and ivory (still needs a little clean up). A quick shot of the engine compartment shot with gunmetal.

My plan had always been to fabricate a grill. Though tube grills were popular, I've never liked them and never considered it. I really was leaving room to put bullets in the corners. But the more I explored a fancy grill, the more it just seemed to clutter an already busy design. A mocked up tube grill just sang, so off we go. A piece of plastic strip helped keep them spaced evenly. The last two nights have been airbrush nights (a big production for me) and this is the final piece. Here's the rest of the Alclad family. The room was dark behind me so it's reflecting a lot of dark.

That's wonderful. A fine nostalgic piece. I think that's the first one I've ever seen built and you did a great job. -

X2. Background is also too contemporary. -
 Among the reasons we're not all under one roof yet.

Who would have guessed primer would be a color base coat for anything. The color subtleties might be hard to make out in photos but you can see the pearlescent sheen. Looks like a beauty. I've been off the bench the last three weeks while I help the GF whelp two litters of puppies. She's a nationally respected breeder and gives laborious care to their health and socialization and that often takes two people.

The quality of your photos alone might be enough to hold my interest. Looks like you've got a good grip on where this needs to go.

Rich & Ron, those things are amazing! Ron, looks like you haven't missed a thing. That's about as much of the kit supplied stuff as you could expect to find over the course of pooling through kits and vendor tables. Great variety, those are classic! Rich, you're showing stuff I never even knew existed and the finished items look fantastic. Now I know who to contact for leads on where to get G scale items. I'm glad you showed those, I had no idea. Cute little 12-pack too. -

When I started this thread I intended to post photos of these, then I couldn't find them. I accidentally came across them this weekend. A TV set. It's not easy to make out but showing in relief in the upper left corner is AMT, then HOT ROD, and you can just make out Hot Rod Cat driving a speedster. Brief case. There was no weathering done to this gas can, this is just how it looks after getting kicked around in the parts box for a few decades. I love this. You can make out an early vintage Sgt. Snorkel on the TV screen. Yet another different TV along with a reel to reel tape deck. (What's a cassette? What's an 8 track?) And someone really threw them together for a complete surveillance control station, at least that's what it makes me think of. -
BOY that sits nice. The wheels and ride height look perfect. Of course the wash helps, but the whole thing looks great. Nice subject too. (Apologies to my comp teacher who said find more descriptive words than "nice.")

Any judged event is subjective, whether it's dogs, cars, models, quilts or ??? Make all the rules you want, but a human element influences a judge's ruling regardless of how impartial he tries to be and all things being equal, I think a judge is more likely to respect the most human effort if it's identical to a mechanical effort.
