  1. Wow nice! What brand of paint do you use, and how much do you thin it?
  2. MPC captures the quarter glass pretty good, here’s a 73 Duster and the Sox and Martin Duster and the Smokey Convoy Chaser Dart Sport
  3. Just amazing John, love the black and whites!
  4. Try painting the oil pan gold, and then a light coat of clear yellow over it. This will give you the anodized effect your looking for.
  5. Thanks for the comments, I don’t think there was ever a Blue Max car I didn’t like!
  6. In the 70s company’s like Milodon and Moroso made gold anodized oil pans, I wonder if you were looking at a restored car that wasn’t 100% correct.
  7. Very nice, do you have any progress photos to show how you got to where you are today
  8. Great build, great car.
  9. PM me your address, I’m pretty sure I have one.
  10. Well said Snake..and to quote a famous modeler..... Model On!
  11. A trip to the purple pond and a quick repaint in the same color probably wouldn’t deminish the integrity of the original build, but I get what your doing. I love that you try and save these. I have purchased several older builds and immediately disassembled them, stripped the paint with the intent of rebuilding them. After following you and Scale Survivors, I realize maybe I should have left them as is. I go a little slower now, I put it on the shelf and let it breathe a little bit, the thought of someone spending a weekend or two of his life creating his model to his likes seems a little more important to me these days than my need for another conquest.
  12. My oldest is my original MPC Don Garlets, RE1, from I think 1971 or 72. I originally built it out of the box without the rear spoiler as that was how it was on the box art. By 1987 the decals were pretty bad off so I used scotch tape and removed them. I had been scrounging replacement decals and replace them and clear coated them this time. I quit models in 1975 and didn’t start back until 1984. I built the JoHan 64 Dodge super stocker in 1984 and won 1st place, at the International Championship Auto Show, in St. Louis, I was hooked again and I have been building since.
  13. I would be very interested in one of these, as I was pulled over by one of these 21 times back in my street racing days.
  14. Love your builds!
  15. Great builds! How about some details on that race track?
  16. Thanks guys, the photography credit goes to my 15 year old daughter.
  17. Love them both! Great saves.
  18. That’s Sweet !
  19. Just uncovered another old build, built in 1998. Kenny Bernstein,s Top Fuel Dragster. Testors Dark Red, the little bottle, DuPont Chroma Base automotive clear. I don’t know the decal maker but there’s two layers of decals stacked for opacity.
  20. Thanks everyone
  21. I recently moved and I’m finally getting things unpacked and set up again. This is an older build I did back in 2010, and I never posted it. Polar Lights kit built out of the box. I did correct the front spoiler to reflect the real car. Testors paint with two part Chroma base clear.
  22. Most of the parts are the same, front nose and front spoilers are different. Some have different injector hats, but for the most part they are all the same.
