  1. This is a great tutorial on flocking but why not drill the 1/16" holes in the top of the film canister so you don't have to tape off the holes in the bottom when filling?
  2. Gorgeous stuff for us drag enthusiasts. Looking forward to getting an order in and putting this stuff to good use. If you need help on artwork for assembly instructions, let me know as I'm an illustrator.
  3. Thans for your kind words guys. Well a bit late but I had to make several of the wheelie wheels and finally got one the right size that I'm happy with. The one on the bottom is the correct size. I find that when using my OptiVisor, I sometimes make things too small and this was the case. I also had a few attempts at the aluminum wheel holder because it would break when I was shaping it. Thanks for following along...
  4. This is so over the top. Loving everything about this and can't wait for more.
  5. So where's the proof that you went? Until we see some pictures, we're not certain you went. :-)
  6. Thanks for the kind words Randy, Joe and Danno. They're really appreciated. Until I get my order from Scale Hardware, I need to move onto areas other than the front end. This afternoon, I made a single wheelie wheel cut out of an orange Gatorade lid but right after it was finished, it jumped right off the bench and into the carpet. You'd think a bright orange cylinder would be easy to spot but I couldn't find it. Once I realized that I looked for it for a longer period time than it would have taken to make a new one, I started on another one and ran out of time before needing to go to work. Oh the perils of working small. I'll work on this some more when I get home and post some progress pix.
  7. OMG - these are awesome. Guess I'll need to go to DirtModeler.com and place an order soon.
  8. Loving this build Shane. I also see that you have a watchmaker's bench as well. I love mine but it needs to be a bit larger though.
  9. Not much going on today, feeling like I need to plan my next build but I did put the fiat together for a couple mock-up shots. Need to get in an order from Scale Hardware in order to continue with the front axle.
  10. Simply stunning work. With it plumbed and wired, when are you going to put in some fuel and fire it up?
  11. Chris - you may have better luck with fine grain sand. It won't fall apart like sugar under pressure and won't attrack ants. :-)
  12. Every new post and every new picture just showcases your outstanding attention to all of the little details that make this build so dang kewl. Thanks for sharing all of your benchtime adventures. I'm at the point of headers on my Fiat so I'm glad you're a day ahead of me so I can check out your work. I sure like that tubing bender, where'd you get that?
  13. Really awesome start on that panel truck Brett. That frame is amazing. Who is the maker of that body? I've been kind of looking around for a suitable tow vehicle for an upcoming project.
  14. John - thanks for following along and the compliments. I appreciate your feedback. The Earl fittings are Detail Master Combination Fittings and the bent part is steel rod, which is shined up with fine sand paper to almost a chrome finish so the Tamiya clear blue and red paint will have the same color and sheen as over the shiny aluminum combo fittings. The small pieces used for the throttle cable and shift bracket on the direct drive are printing plate cut and bent to shape. For the cable bracket, I bend the printing plate over a thin metal rod of the appropriate diameter, then trim its length and drill an appropriately sized hole.
  15. No problem Dan. Got home from work, took a deep breath and was expecting to have a battle on my hands but everything popped right into place. That was a relief. First pic is the fuel shut-off lever. Second is the shifter. And finally, the fuel tank is bolted in. Next up is re-look at the front end. I may need to make a new one but am hoping i can get the one I have to work. Stay tuned...
  16. Not sure how you did Derrick but glad you're on board now. Thanks for the comment. Recent progress report sans pictures. Well, the engine fought me all of the way this afternoon trying to put it in. It finally gave up and its now glued in. Then the shift lever linkage decided it wanted to battle me. It was winning when I had to shut down to go to work so that shift lever and I have a date later tonight. Any guesses on who's going to win? I'll post some progress pictures later so stay tuned...
  17. Man Chris, those are perfect. Great job but you really should get a Dremel Styles as that would have cut down on some of your hand work.
  18. Man that things screams fast and its sitting still.Totally awesome Tyrone. Love this build. Keep posting, I'll be watching and learning.
  19. Thx Danno. So how do I get that PE butterfly wheel to you? Wanna wait for the next MM meeting?
  20. A bit more bench time, so here's today's update. Added a bracket for the throttle cable to keep it out of the way for the lowered body and added the reverse lever on the direct drive. Once the engine is glued in, which I hope is soon, this will connect to the shift lever that's already for installation. Also, wired in all of the switches behind the dash panel. Just need to finish the engine end of the fuel shut-off cable and then the engine can be glued in. That's all for today. Hope to have more done tonight so stay tuned...
  21. Its been a looooong time since I worked on 1/16th scale. As most of you guys probably do, I turn my own springs by bending flexible rod over a piece of tubing.
  22. They are too large in diameter for 1/24 & 1/25th scale. They may work for 1/16th scale though.
  23. Sure, anyone can work in such a large scale!! Ha!! These are looking great and I'll bet the .032 aluminum ones will be just the ticket. What are your plans for cutting the heavier aluminum stock? I think a trip to Prudhomme's shop for research should be on your agenda. Think of all the pictures you could get and now that you're well into this build is just the right time to do so.
  24. Thanks Randy. To which rivets are you refering to? If its the ones on the bottom bent edge of the output shaft tunnel, they were drawn on with a extra fine Micron black felt tip. If its not these, let me know.
  25. Danno - its yours, gratis. So this must mean you're planning another TF dragster? This one going to be as unique as the one I saw a few weeks ago?
