Ya know I'm in lol. Got a few 65s to 73s. Now all we gotta do is get someone brave enough to open one for 74 to 78 -
'8 Dodge Daytona: Sem-replica of a1:1 I owned
Rick Schmidt replied to Olskoolrodder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Stephen, I have a soft spot for Daytonas too. I owned an 88 only got to have her for 4 months and then the onliest Ford in the world I hate ranout in front of me and she was over. My little Dana was just a standard model non turbo non sporty stuff. But man she was fun as hell and fairly quick. I could be runnin along punch it and she'd wag her little tail and run off. Put a laser spoiler on her too. As we know lasers had a different tail so the spoiler ender up turned upward looked cool. I was gonna turbo her an all when she got hit. One of these days I'll have another Dana lol. I built the same kit your doin a while back. Box stock except a taillight mod and removing the piece under the door that didn't look right. Seems we have a lot of the same tastes in cars Something about the kit i now forget made me decide it was an 86. -
hehehehe Dave my newest most favorite line on the forum lol. Chuck my 82 GLX was pretty fun to drive even with the inline 6. I parted out a wrecked and poorly repaired 93 LX had the dual plug 4 in it. Was pretty fun doin donuts in that car and scarin the hell out the guy next to me who convinced me to put seats back in just so we could drive it one final time before it died lol

Sorry I didn't get the pics last night was dead tired after fighting mean thunderstorms and OKC rush hour traffic at the same time last night. The pics above do show what I meant in the rear. Bradley simply cutting the coils won't work on these. The above pictured part is in the way out back and up front the coil spring is just there for show as the wheels actually attach to the K member piece and not the strut
-
Stephen the method I use to lower these cars is pretty simple. Up front ya remove the rounded nubs the K member attaches too down to the arm that supports the motor. This raises the k member and such up closer to the engine and lowers the car. Then ya simply cut the strut to the new height and put it in. Works great since the wheels attach to the K. Out back ya simply cut the rear springs on the axle. Now is where it gets tricky. Theres a piece just above the diff that gets in the way. I grind that piece out. Then ya just gotta clearance the area around the drive shaft a bit. When i get home this evening I'll look i think i already started modding a chassis so I'll take a pic of the critical areas. Another trick i do go help these cars is on the GTs i replace the kit tires with tires from an AMT 05 Chrysler 300.

Looks great so far Jeff. I wanna add before ya get too far don't forget to change the trim piec in the cove behind the door. It was different form 64 to 66.
-
Bradley is so right about this. I had to do some modding to my KR to get its wheels under it after lowering it to a more acceptable ride height. But oh well we learn these tricks an are able to use em on future builds. I've learned exactly how to lower these cars and it appears the same trick works on the '10 hehehe

Man! I hope he's talkin the smaller scale GT500. If so I'm all over it. As far as i know i have at least one of each of the 05 to 09 kits and plan to continue with the 10+ decided on my 10 I'm gonna match her to her 05 sister I styled her to look like a 67 as ya see cause that's what I see when I look at an 05. Now on this '10 i can't decide if I want to take out the GT grille or use it to my advantage to give the car a 70 look. Hehe. We'll see where that goes when i can pull out the 70 body to start eyeballin the 2. If i decide not to use the 70 styling I will cut out the grille and those obnoxious fog lights and install a modded 68 grille in. If i got the 70 route another thing I may do to keep the style will be filling on the rear quarter glass and replacing it with a 69/70 quarter glass either an aftermarket style applique or an actual cut out window

Oooo didn't scroll up enough Jonathan, Ya GT500 looks good
-
Oops sorry Bradley lol I thought everyone knew lol Well Today I picked up my 2010 kit Woooo Hooooo so add it to the build cause I'm so gonna build it soon lol Looks fairly similar to the 05-09 kits so it'll get the same lowering treatment and such they get. Dunno bout the color yet but dangit ya better believe its gonna be a Spoiler Delete lol
-
Yes us Fox guys are an evil cult! Hehehehe. Gets worse when ya narrow it down to those evil and picky Four Eye Foxes..(79 to 86) oh wait I'm one of those evil Four Eye guys lol
-
Well I got money to buy a '10 but decided that money needed to go into my real Mustang lol so I ordered an oil pan gasket for her lol. So I'll be in with my 08 Bullitt to start out. Gonna be pretty well stock with the exception of lowering its suspension a little bit and getting rid of the kit truck tires
-
I'm in for sure I'm eyeballin the 2010 now but gotta get a bit of extra cash which is kinda hard while building a real Mustang lol. If i don't get the 2010 soon I'll do a Bullitt and an 08 KR
