Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Rick Schmidt replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Watch the shows like Wild police chases and such to see see things you "wouldn't do" to a car like that. Some people will do anything to a car. One of those shows had a clip showin a guy in a brand new Mustang that he'd bought not stolen just slammin the cops around with the car Intentionally. Now would you do that to a brand new Stang, or any car you just bought?? lol -
Who's a cheater?

I see nothing wrong there. I'll do similar things to acheive the look I want too Right now I'm working on a Revell 90 Grand Prix. And as we know those old kits ( and some new ones ) are bad about riding too high. Great if I wanted to put Larged diameter rims under it ( was Revell looking into the future ? ) I just snipped a bit off the top of the suspension on the rear and cut the A Arms on the front off and moved them inboard and up on the subframe. Not very realistic obviously but acheives the look I want. -
Dave, I did not know that lol I just left it up cause it don't like to line up while closed I just went with the story its 20+ years old things go bad lol
-
No problem The kit goes together real nice I thought only issue I have is one headlight .... It don't operate quite right but most likely thats my fault. It comes Molded with a red body brown interior black chassis and silver engine so be prepared for that if you get it Didn't matter to me I left it red lol worked out for the look I wanted I still need to put all the decals on mine

Man It is sad to have an animal die on ya like that but ya gotta think it was probably for the best that he did pass as fast instead of having to endure the agony of the ride there. We have a house full of little furry friends here too 8 cats 3 dogs and 2 ferrets. Animals are a big part of this house and we have had our share of deaths here so we know what its like to loose one. As for the cop pulling over the car I don't get that. some animals don't know about cars and the street and can't be avoided so unless the cars driver went out of his way to get the cat I don't get it

Engine fits in the bay on this one the oil pan and such is molded in the chassis. You build it up and put on the pan Dunno about other versions but mine built stock only

Man all was goin good then bam! the paint gods bring their wrath down on ya.. I have many projects that are stuck cause of them too
-
09 Yea I think it might have been yours I seen Like I said I seen that color and it looked perfect so I went with it HPaddict Thanks I was kinda wonderin if I went too low but seems I didn't lol George yep She's finally back workin lol
-
Built this one in about a day Seen one in this same color and knew that was the color that mine had been wanting. So I attacked it with Krylon Gold and threw it together. Left it a Curbside cause I wasn't too fond of the kit Engine. Really the only change is the ride height and the wheels

Rick Schmidt replied to 7000in5th's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm diggin this idea just cause its different. May try this on a scrap body myself just to see how it looks and works -
Grabbed a few more the other day Got the new Revell 68 Can be built one of 3 ways. They don't advertise the fact that the Bullit Goodies are in there also From what I hear only thing ya need is the plates And a 65 Fastback Stock only looks to me like its just the old 64 Vert kit wth new wheels and a body

Ok That Techninja Strikes again while your workin on your revell 56 Delray, Dagnabbit !!!. this time he lops off the back of the car. Now what ?? Make a chair outta it You see these for real why not in scale?? gonna fine tune it put the interior side panels in it to keep the style and give it a paint job
-
Ok so ya sittin in ya hobby room workin on ya Revell 55 Chevy ... And all the sudden a wild Techninja comes running in and with a swift slice of his Techninja knife he lops the roof off your model. Fear not Revell seems to have left a few parts in the kit that aint needed such as a Complete Windsheild frame ....... This one was being used for some parts and the roof was involved SO I decided to see if there was hope for the car I know I need to do something about the Vert Boot and interior parts but it's a start One of these days I might go farther I just decided for now to see if it worked

Dude that paint is gonna look awesome on that car

What's your "unicorn?"
Rick Schmidt replied to FactoryStock54's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine was the AMT 67 Mustang. Every time I built this car it either looked like Junk or got turned into Junk by a disaster of some sorts been trying to build these cars for well over 10 years and between my early lack of skills ( like I have any now lol) and outside sources they are all parts now Except for one. I had just got two of them finally looking nice in a burgandy paint and all stock and all when my wife decided a can of paint needed to go in the room by air mail the two 67s were taken out not by the spraying paint but by the can itself. That can came down square on top of one 67 and wrecked the tail end of the other, by hitting the trunk rear panel and seriously screwing up the suspension. That car is actually how I think I conquered it tho I figured since disaster already struck the car that was out of the way and if I wanted it to look bad that would solve that This car is that survivor Hopefully I can keep it under the radar of the forces working against me having this car -
I gotta say thats got some great weathering to it it has the look of an old pickup thats led a hard working life. Looks like she's ready for a rest out in the back 40

Pictures of your tuner
Rick Schmidt replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wanna play !! hehehe My only real Tuner thats not even a full fledged tuner as its bone stock I'm not a big tuner guy but a white car like this caught my eye and I just liked the simple no nonsense look I got a Toyota Carina too but it aint done yet and Its gonna have a simple look too -
As ya guys know I been attacking a 72 Pickup and decided to make it a shortbed I started with an AMT 72 Cheyenne with ###### trim molding but saved it by going to a basic C10 no big there just sand all the trim off anyone can do that a week or so ago I decided to go Short and got some ideas from other modelers heres what I was told take 1 foot from the bed ahead of the wheel well and 6 inches from behind which I did and here ya can see the cuts after it was together again Next was to take 1 foot from the wheelbase in the frame which I did just under the cab to save the suspension you can see the frame hanging out just ahead of the bed Put it all back together and you get this this pic shows how much is out of the bed that is the kit bedcover on it Heres a few links I found on cuttin the truck up I figured if they do it on a 1/1 why can't we do it in scale this article is more for the frame since they use an aftermarket bed http://www.sporttruck.com/techarticles/070...sion/index.html and this one actually used a long bed to make a short so you can see the process of cutting an actual bed http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/body/0805tr..._bed/index.html Sorry I didn't do a full how to but I wasn't sure this truck would happen I'm also not sure that this method works on other trucks aside from the fact that if you reverse it on the 55and 57 step beds you can make a Long step bed
-
James, That woulda been the easy way out ........I had actually been told of the resin bed and a better frame and such, but I wanted to just go at it with this truck. Now that it's completely cut down and back together I think I did ok
-
this will be number 2 for me I built the 1st years ago box stock aside from a spare tire mounted in the bed to match a 1/1 I was looking at it a few days ago and the trim was nowhere near as fugly as this one so maybe I got a bad one so ya may get lucky and get a nice one
-
thanks guys at the moment it looks seriously broke all to heck but hopefully I can get it back together Bobby its the old AMT 72 Cheyenne which ended up this time having a decent body but crooked side trim and all so I decided to make the best of it and start sanding the trim off
-
managed to dig up a couple of older pics from when it first became a C10 did that because the molding was junk and none of the trim lined up
-
No, they are what it was gonna sit on when it was a long bed C10 lol this one will end up with s street tire on a steel rim I forgot to mention it's plan is to be a project truck like one I seen a few days ago
-
well here's what I been workin on the last few days Did I break it ?? Nope its hopefully gonna end up a shortwide
