I've always been an Indy 500 fan, living 70 miles from the speedway. I always enjoy seeing pace cars or anything related to the race Nice job on your model and thanks for sharing.
Builds like this always start out so simple, then take up a life of their own. I'll be watching! I'm seeing a vision of the "Orange Crate" only in a roadster version. Lol
I love the color and the 6 banger, the sparkplug wires look good also. Battery cables, right on. A drop of paint on the battery caps would do wonders. Nice, clean build Daryl! I've got to get one of these.
Thanks for the comments Felix, Jeff and Jim. The paint is Dupli Color gloss black and Dupli Color cherry red acrylic enamel sprayed over Dupli Color white primer. There was a lot of flash on every piece of the frame, ( just like exhaust tubing normally has) that had to be sanded. The frame was the most difficult challenge. I wish I would have added hex bolt heads to all suspension..The steering wheel needs a link to steering rod also. I have the '36 Chevy modified to do next. Thanks for looking everybody.
I agree, especially on the door handles. I'm always tempted to shave them off but, I don't want to make everything a custom. Photo etched wipers are pretty easy to come by.
Thanks for the comments Mark and Chuck. I actually thought of making it a dirt tracker with the tires grooved and screen wire in the windshield opening but, ran out of time before a club meeting. I really don't know much about these type of cars. It was fun!
I agree with who ever said this project has taken a life of it's own. It just keeps building and building and building. So much waiting for a splash of paint. Keep grinding away Darren, we will all be anxiously waiting at the finish line ( Under Glass). This may be one of the great builds of the decade. I can hear them, Go Darren! Go Darren! Go Darren!....... Oh and I love the holes in the skirts where you can see the skulls on the wheels and the window webs. I can visualise some red LEDs with smoke coming from them. Still enjoying the ride!
Nice job on your Novamad ll Bob! The two tone paint adds a '50s element to it. There is no age limit with this hobby. Lol. Usually great things are built in small scale first.
