  1. Thanks, Marty. The interior is two shades of tan. Both are mixes of Testors bottle paint: Brown and Flat White. I tried to get as close as I could to the images I found online.
  2. Thanks, fellas!
  3. Thanks, guys!

Revell kit. Pretty much OOB except wheels and tires. MM bottle "Plum Crazy" paint.
  5. Frank, that does look good, and is definitely the kind of color I am thinking about.
  6. Excellent essay, Bill. If I can add some thoughts... I think for some people "making things" is not an option, but a necessity. You hear this a lot from musicians, that "music is my life", and "I've always known I wanted to be a musician". I think the same applies to craftspeople. This encourages me to believe that there will always be people who fit Mr. Gould's definition of a Craftsman. I am too old to be a big YouTube, Facebook kind of guy, but I get the impression that there is a group of young folks who call themselves "makers". The things they make may seem strange to an old fart like me, but I believe they are motivated by the same passion, curiosity, and perseverance that Mr. Gould describes. As Mr. Gould says, the lack of appreciation for quality is the biggest obstacle. I think people will continue to make things to the best of their ability just for their own satisfaction, but if the general public cannot see value in that, it would be very difficult for someone who would like to turn their craft into a livelihood. End of my musings. Thanks for posting the essay.

  8. I am so glad you reposted this. The photo you posted the first time made me want to see more. This is an absolutely gorgeous model, I love everything about it. You made an almost fifty year old body style look current. Excellent detail and finish. Great job!
  9. Thanks, Art. I have googled E-types in green, and as you say, there are many different shades. At this point I think I will just pick a color I like and call it good!
  10. Thanks, Jonelle. I still haven't found that MM metalliic.
  11. Very nice!
  12. That looks great. Nice job!
  13. I'll add my vote for a Javelin/AMX. I think they're great looking cars, and I could see building one several different ways.
  14. Very nicely done!
  15. You young boys enjoy it while you can!
  16. Thanks for the heads up, Snake. Saved me a wasted trip.
  17. Thanks for that link, Matt. All the images I have seen show the E-type in various shades of solid dark green. The car looks great in that color, but if the metallic is a nice color, I might go that way even if it is not accurate. Thanks, Erik. I will take a look at that Zero paint.
  18. I saw the thread about different shades when I did a search on this topic. I think I'll stick with airbrush, I just can't make rattle cans work for me. I almost wish you hadn't mentioned MM metallic BRG. It sounds really good, but it looks like it may be hard to find. I'm going to check HL and AC Moore today. If no luck there, I'll have to wait for my next trip to HobbyTown. Oh well, if it was easy it wouldn't be fun! Thanks again.
  19. Thanks, Snake. I will look for that MM metallic BRG. That sounds real nice on a Jag. You're right, I can always mix my own, but I want to see what other folks have done. I agree that MM and Testors airbrush nicely, I do it a lot.
  20. Very nice! Looks fast sitting still!
  21. I just got a Jag E-type that I think would look good in BRG. What paint do you recommend for that color? I have some Auto Air, and can get MM/ Testors pretty easy. Tamiya is a little harder for me to get. I have an airbrush, and can use acrylic, lacquer, enamel, or whatever. So what's your favorite? Thanks!
  22. Absolutely gorgeous!
  23. I have used the gun in the picture. It is not a true HVLP gun, even though it says that on the packaging. I have not painted a model with it yet, but was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked for touching up cabinets. I was using latex house paint, and it atomized nicely. The fan and paint controls worked fine. I used a regular compressor at about 40 psi. For model car bodies, I think you would have to close down the paint supply, and probably reduce the pressure. Even then, I suspect it would be closer to a rattle can than an airbrush. The trick would be using low enough pressure to get good control, while still getting good atomization. The cup holds several ounces of paint, way more than would be needed for a 1/25 car body. All that said, I do intend to try it for models. If you beat me to it, I would be very interested in your report on how it works. I think it might be really good for larger scale cars, and if I ever build my 1/72 scale B-52, I will see how it works using several bottles of Metalizer!
