  1. Me neither. Thanks, Jim!
  2. Thanks Carl! Thanks Mike!
  3. Thanks, Pat! And thanks for the pix. That is exactly what I was shooting for. I bet there are some interesting stories around those pix. Thanks Brian!
  4. Thanks, Dave! Thanks, Nick! And whatever you were doing in Bora Bora, thanks for going!
  5. This is the Monogram kit. I picked it up at an auction for peanuts. Imagine my surprise when I saw what they sell for online! This is my first attempt at serious weathering. I was going for a dusty, "Africa" look. The "tent" is some toothpicks and a piece of an old bed sheet. The duffels and dry bag were molded out of Milliput, and covered with the same bed sheet. The crates are just blocks of wood with some strips of veneer for framing. The only thing missing was a distributor, which I made. Overall, a really fun kit to build. Any suggestions for improvement, especially with weathering, would be most welcome.
  6. Can you explain what is wrong with the kit tires and wheels? I have that kit and the tires and wheels look pretty close to your picture, except the wheels are chrome and the tires have no lettering.
  7. That looks fantastic. Excellent work!
  8. That is really nice! Excellent craftsmanship and detail.
  9. Strange as it sounds, try a silver Sharpie. It looks white on tires to me.
  10. I use Tamiya for clear lenses, and Testors Stop Light Red for chrome tail lights. For some reason, Tamiya Transparent Red doesn't look right over chrome. Tamiya Transparent Orange looks fine to me over chrome.
  11. That looks great! I have this kit on my "To Do" list. I hope mine comes out half as nice as yours.
  12. They're all very sharp and clean. Excellent detail. Very nice!
  13. Both are really nicely done.
  14. Very nice model! Only problem is: I live in Virginia and everything here is upside down!
  15. Gas/ alcohol blends that sit for a while don't seem to be too big a problem for fuel injection. They're murder on carburetors, tho.
  16. No matter how many I finish, they never look half as nice as yours. Stunning work! I want to drive that Monaco to my house.
  17. I've looked at some methods for making right angle boots for spark plug wires. All of them are labor intensive and well above my skill level. So, laziness being the mother of invention, I tried another way. First, bend your spark plug wire at a right angle. Then add a dab of this stuff at the bend. That gives you this: It needs to dry for 24 hours. Here's the result. Not perfect, but what do you folks think?
  18. That looks great, Bill. Good to see you back.
  19. WOW! That is gorgeous! You did a fantastic job.
  20. I hear ya, Chris. I have exactly the same philosophy. I am a major flea market, auction, and yard sale scrounger. It's amazing the deals you can find if you're patient and persistent.
  21. Thanks, Chris. I guess that is confusing. I live on the family farm. It's been in the family for over 100 years. I have a building here that is the workshop for my business. At one point I put a large addition on the workshop building, intending to expand, but the expansion did not happen. When I got divorced, I created an apartment in that addition, with the rest used as lumber storage and a garage. My landlord is my cousin, and he is a nice guy. P. S. I will gladly build a hobby room for anyone that will pay me!
  22. That's just wrong! 37 degrees and raining here today, and I won't have tomatoes til next August!
  23. Thanks, Art. I build slowly, so don't hold your breath!
  24. LOL. It's gonna be a long commute from CA to here!
