  1. I can't offer any advice, but would like to add my condolences. It is a testament to your father's character that so many people who never met him, have tremendous respect and admiration for him. Like others, I only knew him through his words and pictures on a screen, but he was always generous and honest, and his models are of the highest quality. He also seemed to have a bit of a sneaky/wacky sense of humor. He made me laugh many times. He will be greatly missed, but always remembered.
  2. That's cool! I've never seen that body style before. Nice job!
  3. Lean and mean! Great job!
  4. Thanks, Thomas! I wondered about those tires, they are very thin. I am thinking about putting some foam pipe insulation inside them before I put the wheels in. I am enjoying this kit, it is challenging but fun. I also enjoy seeing your wonderful model, great job!
  5. I am currently building this kit and have a WIP in the "On the Workbench" section. If you have any advice or information about the kit or the 1:1 vehicle, it would be most appreciated. I hope mine comes out as nice as yours. I was thinking about painting mine "Industrial Yellow", now I'm afraid I'll be called a copycat!
  6. Thanks, Mike, that helps a lot. In the photos I have seen, it looks like the interior sheet metal is body color, black dash and seats. Sort of green/gray for the engine. The kit instructions call for tan seats (leather?), but I have not seen a reference for that yet. It definitely looks like the ultimate "go anywhere" machine! That's a bummer. I almost sounds like the kit was tampered with. The wheels should have been on the parts tree. The tires were in a separate bag, so could have been left out. Maybe Revell would replace them? It is a detailed kit and challenging but fun. I am making some progress and should have a rolling chassis with engine soon.
  7. Thanks, Mark. The tires are hollow and were stuck together and slightly deformed when I opened them. I have them temporarily on the wheel and I hope they will come back into shape. They are cool tires, I might make a resin copy of them for some other project.
  8. I'm working on this kit. I'm posting this WIP hoping folks who know more about this vehicle than I do can help me with detailing it. This kit might be a piece of cake for real modellers, but it's pretty challenging for me. There are 64 pieces in this chassis alone. Based on the images I'm finding online, everything on the chassis is black. That's OK, if kinda boring. Does anyone know if there are any other finishes on a 1:1 Unimog chassis?
  9. That looks great! I would also like to hear more about how you did the conversion. I have this kit, and would like to build it as a Medevac unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Nice job, Dominik! This proves that sometimes Ferraris look better when they're not red!
  11. I haven't tried Vallejo, but I've been playing around with Auto Air. Their Candies and Transparents are intended to be used over a silver base, although they could be used over other colors for special effects. Their Pearls and Sparklescents are intended to be used over similar solid colors, like blue over blue, but again, they could be used over other colors. There is a lot of room for creativity, and I haven't even scratched the surface of what could be done with this stuff.

    Nice job!
  13. Nice job! I really like the color and the wheels.
  14. While you're on Amazon, check out California Air Tools. I have their 2010A, it is very quiet and has lots of capacity. I have seen it on sale for $135. There is a smaller model on there for $108.
  15. Thank you, Carl!
  16. Thank you, Carl!
  17. Thanks, Jonathan.
  18. Thanks again, Frank. I used the Matte Aluminum BMF, and removed the paint with an "artist's blending stump". I haven't tried every method that's been suggested for removing the paint, but this works better for me than a toothpick or a cotton swab.
  19. Thanks, Don.
  20. Thanks, Oscar
  21. Thanks, Cliff. Thanks, Frank. The valve covers are foiled, the ribs on the intake are with a silver Sharpie.
  22. Thanks, Dave. Everybody has different taste, I personally think the Viper is a great looking car.
  23. Thanks, Marty
  24. Thanks, David. Thanks, Eric.
