  1. I hear ya, Chris. I have exactly the same philosophy. I am a major flea market, auction, and yard sale scrounger. It's amazing the deals you can find if you're patient and persistent.
  2. Thanks, Chris. I guess that is confusing. I live on the family farm. It's been in the family for over 100 years. I have a building here that is the workshop for my business. At one point I put a large addition on the workshop building, intending to expand, but the expansion did not happen. When I got divorced, I created an apartment in that addition, with the rest used as lumber storage and a garage. My landlord is my cousin, and he is a nice guy. P. S. I will gladly build a hobby room for anyone that will pay me!
  3. That's just wrong! 37 degrees and raining here today, and I won't have tomatoes til next August!
  4. Thanks, Art. I build slowly, so don't hold your breath!
  5. LOL. It's gonna be a long commute from CA to here!
  6. Thanks, Mike That was my intention with the compressor. Unfortunately, the bottom of the cabinet acts as a resonator, and makes it louder. If I did it over again, I would fill the space under the cabinet solid to the floor, or at least add some stiffeners to the cabinet bottom. It's still quiet enough, but it could be better. I am also interested to see how well my spray booth works! It seems OK, but I haven't painted anything yet. Thank you Johann!
  7. Frederick, MD has a bunch of the L700/ '40 Ford kits. Some Crown Vics. Some Charger Super Bees. Some Chevy SSR. One L700 w/ box van. A couple of Ferrari Daytonas. A few other things, nothing I didn't already have.
  8. I wondered what those crunchy bits in the salad were! Thanks, Paul
  9. Thanks Andy. I made all the cabinets, including the drawer unit. In fact, I did everything, framing, drywall, paint, wiring, flooring, etc. It's the only way I could afford to do this. Thanks Mark, a sink would be nice, but getting plumbing out there would be a major job. I guess that's the one thing I'll have to continue to do in my kitchen. Thanks Tom, James, Bruce Thanks, Dan: 10-4, I'm on it! Thanks Charlie, I'm not a FB kind of guy. Old dinosaur..... Thanks, Kerry.
  10. Thanks, Dave. The whole point was to get modelling out of my kitchen, so I could USE my kitchen sink!
  11. Thanks Jonathan, Michael, John, and Pat. Thanks, Ray. I loves me some laminate flooring!
  12. I know what you mean. I've been working from my kitchen table for years. I live in a one bedroom apartment, so I finally decided to carve out some space in my garage. Since I make cabinets for a living, those just cost me materials. The wood for the cabinet doors was a tree that fell here on the farm, I had it sawed at a local sawmill, and dried it in the barn for a few years. Most everything else is scrounged, homemade, or flea market and auction finds. And now I have a kitchen again!
  13. LOL. I haven't built anything in there yet. We'll see what it looks like in six months!
  14. Thanks, Chuck. I was happy to find that Rover.
  15. I haven't built any models in a while, because I've been working on this. I still need to do some organizing and putting away in the cabinets and shelves, but I figure it may not be this clean ever again, so I took some pix.
  16. I agree! I would love to see that TR finished, but it deserves to have whatever time it needs.
  17. That came out great! I enjoyed the WIP.
  18. That came out great! I enjoyed the WIP.
  19. Years ago I had a customer who loaded a 10 foot kayak in the passenger seat of a BMW Z3. Even angling it as much as we could, it still stuck up above the windshield a good 5 feet. After tying it down the best we could, she left on her 35 mile trip home. I never heard from her again, so I guess she made it.
  20. That's cool! I'm glad to see that decal worked out. It must have been a challenge, especially with all those compound curves. Nice work, I'm looking forward to seeing more!
  21. I recently got a California 2010. I think it is the same compressor as yours, just a different size tank. I haven't painted with it yet, but it is pretty quiet, pumps up fast, and ran both a brad nailer and a finish nailer with no problems. I did get a water trap and a second regulator that works on low pressure for it. I hope they paint beautifully for both you and me!
