Porsche 911 RSR by Tamiya on Scalemates?
martinfan5 replied to 64Comet404's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
On display at All Japan Hobby show -
Mostly built out of the box, paint is Tamiya LP white and Black, modified the push bar to make it closer to CHP style, added the LED light heads on the sides/middle bar, made a gun rack, added a 3D printed antenna puck, used the wheels and tires from the Lindberg Dodge Charger.

Mostly and out of box build, Paint is Dodge Silver from Scalefinishes, I used a diecast Federal signal Valor lightbar ( what DPS uses) I made a base for it as the one that it comes with is too big, toy like. I added a radar unit, swapped the siren speaker for one that is closer to what DPS runs, decals were not best, laser printed from a local police car enthusiast photographer. I also added a 3D printed antenna puck on the roof.

Tamiya 1/24 Nissan 240Z (street custom?)

That is just beautiful Bob, enjoyed getting to see it again. I can not wait to get started on mine , just waiting for it to cool down a bit before I resume building from the "summer its to freaking hot to be painting in the garage break" I am currently on. -
I have used the ECMS option early this year I believe, for my 5 kits, its $70.34, which works out to $14.06 per kit, about $2 less than EMS($79.94), I might give it a try again.
-
I currently have 5 kits waiting to ship, the cheapest shipping option that will get it here within a weeks is $79.xx( EMS) , so that breaks it down to $15.80 per kit, close to the number Duff said. Shipping one kit via the same method , EMS is $37, so almost half the cost of shipping one.

I love GODHAND nippers, I had to learn the hard way with my pair of the Ultimate Nipper , I pushed my luck a bit too far and cut one too many pieces of sprue, broke the tip of the blade off, that hurt, I don't remember what I paid but it was at least $50. Replaced it with their Blade One Nipper , little thicker blade, it just doesnt cut as nice as the Ultimate( it still cuts good) .

RED Turn Signals/Hazards : WHY ?!?

Not everyone is aware of federal regulations, and unfortunately, my mind reading device has been in the shop for a long time, it never seems to work right, so I had no way of knowing you know them , ya know? -

RED Turn Signals/Hazards : WHY ?!?
martinfan5 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not fan of them in that location either, it does make them a bit harder to notice, but , because of federal regulations and they way they design the vehicle, they have no choice but to put them in the bumper, no sole part of the brake/tail/turn can be placed in a part of the body that opens( trunk/liftgate) -
RED Turn Signals/Hazards : WHY ?!?
martinfan5 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For whatever reason when my cars model was redesigned for the next gen they went from amber to red( Japanese brand so its common they use amber) , then the mid cycle refresh they went back to amber , so I bought the refresh taillights so I could have amber to the rear, I was just thinking about this other day, I like/prefer amber to the rear for indicators. -
Revell 2022 Corvette Stingray C8 Z5

Yeah, you are right, some of the US versions in the past have not had US plates, I forgot about the Audi R8 that you mentioned, so its possible the US box version might only contain the one US plate option, but I would be surprised if it did. I can see why you think its funny? -

That is the EU version of the kit, so it has a decal sheet for the EU market, the US box version of the kit will have a decal sheet for the US market, which should include more than one state license plate decals. -
Fantastic Mike, looks really good as a 2dr

Will be adding to the stash.
