  1. Why not a fan of open wheel racing, its sad to see any race car driver lose their live, I started watching the race an hour into the red flag( not knowing about the wreck) . My thoughts and prayers go out to Dan's wife and family, and what a very touching five lap tribute to him, I did everything I could to hold back tears.
  2. I think you are right about t being an MPC thing, and you are right , it is a great kit, MPC kits are simple but can be built up nicely .
  3. Mike, thank you, I think I will be getting those tire's , great work on the paint job
  4. For primer I am using dupicolor filler primer, and then most likely will do a coat of sealer, and for the black I am going to either use dupicolor or MM lacquer black. I have already tested the primer on the spare hood, no problems so far.
  5. On my way to doing all the trans am from the smokey and the bandit movies, so here is the trans am from part 3. I am using a MPC 83 Firebird kit, got it off of evilbay still factory sealed. The kit is molded in red, so looks like I have a lot of priming to do. One nice thing about two in one kits like this is you get the extra body parts which are perfect for testing out paint and primer on them. I do have a question for you guys, I have to paint the lower rocker panels gold, whats the best process of doing that?
  6. Mrmike, thank you for the info, are you going to have to make room for those tire's in the rear wheel wells?
  7. Nice work so far, where did you the tires from?, I looking for tries for kit that I have, I can not decide if I want to go with a aftermarket wheels and tires or just better tires.
  8. very nice, makes want a mountain dew now,
  9. That is one beautiful build, very nice
  10. This is what I find odd, is that I sprayed the primer on two different AMT kits , and it etched one but not the other, and both kits have been issued with in the last few years. Thanks for help guys, its a little frustrating trying to find paint/primer that works, and when you do find one and go awhile with out problems then the problems start
  11. This is the first time I have had any issues with dupicolor primer, I have been using it for awhile, I am using the grey primer sealer and white sandable primer, and its happening so far with both . I know the know its not miss label, as I have been using the same cans for the last month or so.
  12. It is little known that the Mark VIII was almost a contender at NASCAR. Chevrolets had won 31 of 46 Winston Cup races since the redesigned Monte Carlo was introduced in the 1995 model year and racing season. In 1996, Ford had no plans to update its 9 year old Thunderbird in the near future. The next year, Ford announced that it would discontinue the Thunderbird, one of the most successful brands in NASCAR history, at year's end. In 1996, Michael Kranefuss, owner of Team 37, saw the Mark VIII, which shared the MN-12 platform with the Thunderbird, as the logical replacement. The team built a NASCAR car based on the contour of 1996 Mark VIII. Wind tunnel tests were done on the completed car at the Lookheed plant in Marietta Georgia on May 7, 1996. The car attracted a lot of attention during the two day test at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 8-9, 1996. John Andretti drove the Mark VIII for those test laps, recording one of the highest speeds for those days. They were the focus of attention not because of the lap times but because it was a Lincoln Mark VIII. NASCAR officials said they would allow the Lincoln Mark VIII to be used in Winston competition, but Ford asked the team to stop the development program. "Ford's foremost objective is to sell cars," stated Michael Kranefuss, who has a 30 year association with Ford. Ford wanted a sales leader represent Ford in NASCAR. Also, at the time, Ford did not want Lincoln to have a race image. In 1997, when Ford announced that the Thunderbird was to be discontinued, Ford got special permission from NASCAR to campaign a two door Taurus for NASCAR for the 1998 season. Special dies were made up for the skins of this racing Taurus that was optimized for aerodynamics. No Two door Taurus was ever offered in the showroom! So much for "stock car" racing.
  13. I just tried priming an amt body, and the dupicolor primer etched the body as well, I have not been having problems using dupicolor primers up in tell the last few times. I just used it on a revell kit without any problems, but when used on an old mpc kit and now an amt kit, Its etching the plastic. But here is the funny thing, I used the same primer a few days ago on another amt kit, and the primer did not etched the plastic, so now I am a little confused. I will from now on start using future before I prime and paint
  14. Thanks guys, , no the gophers are not holding it up, but they did build the dirt hill for me , I used to of the metal strips off of a rake, then just put a part of them in the dirt . The whole idea came to me as I was sitting in the back yard one night, looking at the gopher hills , and then the idea came to me.
  15. I was going to order his topkick cab, but after reading some of what members on here have said, I dont think its a good idea.
  16. I didn't forgot about the antenna's , just over looked that part Danno, I know I told you I was going to join, and I am , well I know what model I can do for the December build, the ford interceptor I got from you. Agent, are you little excited about the charger ? , what type of rollerskate do you get to drive?, didn't you say a Chevy? Zoli, I read the tip thread you made on the other forum about the antenna's I have been thinking about trying it out, I used some your led lights on the Tahoe and on the ford interceptor, very nice . I hope you can use the light bars I sent you.
  17. I was planning on lowering the ride as well, now I understand what you are saying, I was just wanting to make sure that if I went with a 1/24th scale tire it wouldnt look out of place on the 1/25th mustang. I am trying to make it look better and dont want to end up getting tires/wheels that are going to look the same as the kit tires.
  18. They seller fees are based on the on what item sells for, the listing fees are not that high at all. Sometimes you can get free listings as well. It most likely cost the seller maybe $2 to list that record each time.
  19. Thanks for all the compliment guys, I should of did a different back ground for the pics, but I guess using one of them now wouldnt work for the quiz. But any tips on doing a background ? Bill Bozo decals are out of canada, far as I know they are not alps printed, you need a white base to use them, but they are some the best decals out there being made. If you order a 1/24th/25 scale sheet, you get enough decals to do six cars, and $15 a sheet its a really good deal. I dont think there is a 1/24th scale new style impala,
  20. Yes I am , I have the 07 gt500 kit, the kit is 1/25, so wouldnt a 1/24 19in tire/wheel be to big and cause the same problem as the kit wheel's do?. I know I will have to open up the wheel wells in the rear.
  21. I am looking for aftermarket wheels for revells mustang kit, but the problem I see is that all the wheel/tire sets I have found are 1/24th, the tire size in the mustang kit are 19. But if I get 19inch wheel/tires in 1/24th they will be too big, so would going down a few size's compensate for the scale difference?
  22. That is cool that they used a vinyl wrap on the car, it shows that departments are thinking resale value before the cars even hit the streets. I am not surprised that the V6 got bogged downed, so it has good power but not enough low end torque, which like you said in the city is not good. There is only a few departments here in the Phoenix area using chargers. So was it LVPD testing the chargers?, And on a side not as well, there is a 2011 charger diecast coming out, it got pushed back so the sunroof could be filled before production started.
  23. When I get a strength at building models I will let you guys know ,
  24. Agent, these decals are from bill bozo decals, the decals I was talking about with danno are for the decals for the 60's/ 70's era PHX PD markings. How was your sample of the new style charger?, did you get any pics of it?
