The current AC Delco filters are blue too. Maybe I will go with something similar to that color. Thanks!

We already determined that some of the color callouts on the instruction sheet are wrong. I am painting some of the engine parts and see that they call for a gold oil filter. I could swear that the old AC filters were white, and that is what I see that some of the 1:1 restoration shops are selling. Anyone confirm or deny the color of the early spin-ons?

Probably added by an owner after Hertz. It seems like "all" 65-66 Shelbys have LeMans stripes now. I like this 65 picture and how many didn't have LeMans stripes or aluminum wheels.

We dropped Showtime after season 9 of Shameless because it was too expensive and that was about the only thing we were watching on it. Well, Season 10 is now on Netflix and we have been getting in some bingy-cringy TV watching again.

A lot of this kit goes together very nicely. I like the way that the frame and floorpan fit together and that each exhaust pipe has three pin locations. One under the front seat, one under the rear seat, one into the trunk area so they can be glued from the top and it won't show. Not so sure about the vague location for the rear upper control arms and I would have appreciated a locating pin on the frame for the front springs.

According to the interwebs, the 50 Ivy Green 350Hs were built with only side stripes, no LeMans stripes. Sounds like a good excuse to not put them back on.

The 14" slotted rally wheels were optional on the "regular" Malibu in 1969.

The gap on the model is 1 1/2 to 2 times the height of the side marker lamp for size comparison purposes. None of the 1:1s have anything near that much gap. It's body colored sheetmetal under there, so that is why it is more noticeable with lighter colors on 1:1, especially restored cars that are clean in there. I have trimmed the taillamp openings a bit on mine, also the bottom lip of the decklid. The taillamps fit the body much better and the gap is lessened. My trimming has made the bottom of the taillamp flush with the quarter endcap, as it should be. Not sure what the next step is though. I may separate the bumper and make a new, smaller filler panel and call it good. The bumper doesn't hang below the quarter on the 1:1, so moving it up a little (not flush with the taillamp bottoms) may make it acceptable.

Well, I've Seen It All Now

If Covid ever goes away and office life returns to normal, we SO need a track like that in our game room at work. It would get more use than the Foosball and the pool table combined. -
The wheels are the same in both kits. One set of "disc brake wheels" and one set of Magnums.

I think that is the answer. The taillights and/or body and endcaps need a little careful trimming as well. The taillights don't fit the body very well out of the box. You can this see in Randy's mockup, Chris' build, and the box art model.

All of the original 69 and 70 Chevelle SS wheels I remember seeing had trim rings. I think that I am going to use a set from the AMT 70 on mine. They look a little better to my eye than the Revell wheels.

California does the same, it's a personal property tax and that part of the registration is deductible on your income tax return. Here is the breakdown for the 2018 Focus. The license fee goes down every year, and the smog abatement fee goes away when the car is old enough to require a smog check.

Absolutely! I bought the 1/16 Revell Porsche 356 coupe because I liked what I saw of it on the Model Workshop. There have been several other kits that I thought I would get and I wound up deciding NOT to buy because of what I saw on The Workshop. I know that Chris' sponsors don't want to hear that, but that is just me. I just appreciate seeing what is in the box before it's on the bench. Sometimes it is just that the subject matter isn't interesting enough to redo a meh kit. BTW: The Revell 69 Chevelle rear bumper is a giant oozing zit on the face of an otherwise very nice kit. I also wish they hadn't tried and failed at the hood hinges. They look nice, but the slashes in the firewall make the car look like a cheap diecast. I will most likely omit the hinges and fill the slashes.

You don't get mailed registration notices in Styrenestan? Here at the other end of US 50, they mail out notices about 2-3 months in advance. And I kind of remember March, July, and January as our registration months anyway. CA DMV has also put kiosks in several retail locations so if you can't/won't/didn't renew online, you can renew at the grocery store.

Well, as we are generally a group of Old Farts here...... This stuff sticks to human skin quite well and to itself even better. The spousal unit has had several surgeries that were glued/bandaged for a couple weeks with orders not to soak in water. PressNSeal worked amazingly to keep said glue/bandage places relatively dry in the shower. Especially after the shoulder replacement surgery. Maybe Glad should make a commercial promoting this?
