Couple of squarebody questions
Rodent replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't believe that squarebody stepsides were available in two-tone, other than having the roof painted a different color from the body. I have found a few sales brochures online and they seem to agree that two-tone was a Fleetside option. The colors were separated by a molding, and I don't know how they would have done that with the stepside fenders. I also believe that bucket seats went away in 73 (first squarebody) which is the year they went to the sidesaddle tanks that they eventually caught a bunch of grief over. https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/brochuredisplay.cgi?year=1976&manuf=GM&model=Chevy Truck&smod=Pickups&page=11&scan=45 -

Will we ever see the Monogram S-10 again?
Rodent replied to Jim H.'s topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The S-10 used one of two NP two-speed transfer cases. The Typhoon and Syclone used two different BW single speed transfer cases. I assume that they look much different on the outside, but only a diehard S-10 fan or a rivet counter will probably care. -
We still don't know what the 2021 Raptor will be. Wonder if they will wait and do one of those?

This eBay seller is nuts...
Rodent replied to BlackSheep214's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Mr. Norm funny car kit was the first 1/25th scale kit I built without help from Dad. I have looked around for another one from time-to-time, but they seem rather hard to come by. -
Not a MOPAR expert, but was this something special for the six-pack cars? The 69 Coronet sales brochure states that power disc brakes were an option on any V8 model.

The last bottle of Testor's Pontiac Engine Blue from the LHS. Had a long conversation with another patron who builds 1/28 scale RC drift cars and uses 1/24-1/25 model bodies. He may have sent me down an expensive rabbit hole....

Selling Car Model Kits on eBay
Rodent replied to dwdirks's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have rehomed a bunch of stuff over the last few years and I don't feel cheated. I didn't make a billion dollars, but I got rid of stuff that I will never build. If it went to someone who thought they needed it, great. If it went to someone who was drunk shopping, so much the better. My spouse does not know the difference between my JoHan 69 Roadrunner, my $200 Paul Hettick resin kit, or the Old Pro Nova I bought last night as a parts donor. As I do not know the difference in value between the ~1000 books that are surrounding me as I type this. We have way too much stuff, and if I can find a new home for it before I die, I am happy. Otherwise it will be entrusted to an estate sale company or dropped at Goodwill. I have only had two flaky buyers on eBay. One guy who wanted to send me a postal money order even though I stated PayPal only, and another who "won" a large scale kit but didn't have the money to pay for it for a couple weeks. I wound up accepting the money order (I think it was only about $10 for the item and shipping) and I waited out the guy who won the kit and had to wait out PayPal to actually deposit the money in his account. It was kind of rare-ish, and the shipping alone was around $90. It all worked out. -
Same here. I had a couple of the 68 Plymouth police cars, a 71 Javelin, the drag Comet, a Superbird, and a 69 Roadrunner. I think that was it. The Ramblers and the whale Chryslers just didn't interest me much at the time.

That was Henry's kind of car, but definitely not Henry II's kind of car. Henry I wasn't involved in the company (other than to meddle) after 1945 and he died in 1947.

Dealer List is now Available

Hobby Company of San Francisco closed in 2019 for "seismic retrofit" and appears to have never reopened. Maybe one of our forum members closer to the Bay Area has different information. -
Got the AMT Old Pro Nova and the Revell 66 GTO at Hobby Lobby today. I ordered a Flintstone Ventura II and needed the Nova as a donor.

Monogram Chevy S10 Street Sleeper Custom ,Whats In The Box
Rodent replied to martinfan5's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Not a fan of Tim's videos. They are painful to watch. I commented on here before that I could give one of my models to the 6 and 7-year old boys across the street and they could make a better video review than anything I have seen from Tim. -

Not surprised that my LHS isn't on the list. I am pretty sure that the folks that run it can't read. Or won't read. Checked a couple of other places on the list thinking I would try to get it online with a couple of other items I need, but the two of the three places I checked either had no working website or have been closed for over a year. I will keep checking back with the other one until I see it in stock. -

Back when we were "working from office" (pre-COVID), one of my neighbors in the Cube Farm felt the same way. She took everything home with her every night. I knew that it was around 09:00 every morning when I heard a sigh and a sound like two SBC cylinder heads being dropped across the wall from me. I have 48 1/64 cars in four cases and some random 1/43 stuff on my desk at work. There isn't room for much else and still have the stuff I need for work. If our WFH situation lasts into 2021, I may bring some of it home.
