  1. Have any of you every applied vinyl to your models instead of painting? I've seen some guys do it on facebook and it caught my eye as a good possible alternative. I like to build a lot of police cars and light commercial type vehicles that sometimes have two-tone paint jobs. I figured it might be a good alternative when I have to, for example, build an all-black police car with a white roof. I can see myself painting most of the car black and then applying white vinyl to the roof. It might otherwise work well on other flat surfaces with clearly-defined borders. Anyhow, just looking to see if anyone has any feedback from use before I try it out. Here's an example I found on youtube. They used a diecast but I just wanted to give a visual idea.
  2. I don't have personal experience with him. However, reading comments on facebook from guys who have purchased from him, they say the bodies look good from afar but they are very thick up close and require a lot of work (such as sanding) to get right. So if you really want the piece and are willing to massage the bodies to your liking, go for it. I think his prices are too expensive for the quality.
  3. 1973-1975 were the years for the removable roof.. The MPC kit is a 1975 model as it has the 1975-1976 grill. The Monogram is a 1976 due to the grill. But otherwise, point taken.

  5. Yes, I have noticed the rise in prices as well. The kit itself is okay, but the police parts are of great quality. I'm planning on building a future AZ DPS version. If that's what you're aiming for, hit me up and I'll send you the reference material I have.
  6. Nice. I just got another one of those Tauruses for cheap from ebay. What's your plan for it?
  7. Tower Hobbies. They just revamped their website, making it an even better experience.
  8. Best build up of this kit that I've ever seen. Great work!
  9. Looks like the website is down. Anybody have any news?
  10. As others have said, you can't beat ebay and it's reach/customer base. I try to only sell rare or hard to find model-related stuff on ebay, whether car kits, decals, aftermarket, etc. I've been able to sell most of the stuff I list through auction at either break even prices or making a profit. There was an instance where I listed a mediocre resin body for $25 and much to my surprise, it sold for $120! Yes, the cumulative $20 fee at the end hurt, but then I remembered how much I gained and how no other selling venue would have resulted in such a large profit. I stick to selling less rare kits or items on facebook where the fees won't cut into my already minuscule profit.
  11. This stuff? https://www.amazon.com/POR-15-Cleaning-Degreaser-Surface-Solution/dp/B00KPXJVL6 Looks like it goes by POR-15 now.
  12. I bought this piece on ebay about 5-6 years ago. It's the only one I've ever seen. The seller wasn't the original maker.
  13. Thank you all for the compliments!
  14. Looks great! I love it.
  15. El Paso Police Department (TX) Chevrolet Impala. I used the Revell snap kit, policedecalsanddeals/Rhonda Keraly decals, MX7000 lightbar from the Lindberg Crown Victoria kit, aftermarket pushbar, and a combination of Tamiya paints for the exterior. During my research, I found slight variations in decals and light bars as used on real EPPD Impalas. I went for the variation that I could do with the decals on hand. As I was not able to verify what interior color EPPD used on their Impalas, I chose to replicate the Regal Blue interior that was popular at the time. I did not enjoy painting the exterior plastic cladding and trim and this is where most of my mistakes occurred. The panel washes are a bit dark, but I went down that route to cover up some mistakes. Real photo is posted at the end for reference.
  16. Thank you! Regarding the stripes on the doors, I've seen two variations - they stop at the front doors and continue onto the rear doors. Here's an Impala where the stripes continue onto the rear doors. That's how I'm doing mine:
  17. I finally got a chance to continue working on this project. The interior is done. I took the kit's prisoner partition and modified it to more closely reflect the one found inside EPPD units. I used a Krylon color that came close to replicating the Royal Blue interior color option offered on Impala police cars of this generation. Push bar is done: Front grill is done: Wheels and chassis are done:
  18. Beautiful work on the interior!
  19. I'm using the Revell Snap Tite Impala police car to build a 2004ish El Paso Police Impala. I've started off easy by painting the headlight and taillight lenses and assemblies.
  20. Nice work so far. I'll be closely following your work on this.
  21. Hmm...I bought one at HL yesterday and it was $26.99. After 40%, it was $17.61. Still a great deal regardless, and even $26.99 is a steal!
  22. I just bought one at HL. After using the 40% coupon, I paid $17 and change for it. Even the retail price was cheap. It doesn't get better than that.
  23. Does anybody have a website or email? BCS doesn't have any campers listed, and I've never seen any listed on his ebay page.
