  1. That has to be one of the nicest, if not the nicest, version of the Impala that I've ever seen.
  2. That's why I have dozens of AMT and Lindberg kits from that era, because they represent what I grew up with. In a way I suppose you and I are lucky that the 90s spawned a lot of then modern "regular" vehicle kits like dozens of pickup trucks, SUVs, and just regular cars.
  3. You're forgetting the 1st and 2nd generation Ford Raptors that Revell released. But yes, it is sad that in this millennium those have been the only 3 modern pickup truck offerings. As someone born in 1991, I want to see more of the vehicles I grew up with. Basically cars from the 80's to the present day.
  4. Utah Highway Patrol and Border Patrol
  5. I think I'll settle for the Dove Grey. Thanks fellas.
  6. DPS is indeed still running white, but those are older cars. The 2016+ models have the new paint job/decal scheme: https://aztroopers.org/enews/dps-evolves-with-new-branding-and-a-new-image And my apologies, the new color is silver, not grey. For the record, I much prefer the traditional scheme that DPS ran before this new change. Since you're planning the same project in the future, any ideas on the color of the Monaco in the picture?
  7. Looks good. Just one small observation: It appears that the vertical pillar that you attached to the back windows should be straighter to match the real car. Not completely straight but also not running flush with the car's C pillar.
  8. Or Dove Gray? I would appreciate anybody else's opinion.
  9. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?year=1978&con=y&model=Dodge&rows=50 I'm thinking maybe Pewter Gray?
  10. Traditionally, AZ Highway Patrol cars have been white up until 2016 when a grey color was adopted. However, the few vintage photographs there are of the agency show that different colors were used throughout the 1970s. Given the wide array of colors, I'm assuming that they were all factory colors as AZ has never (to the best of my knowledge) run a custom paint job.
  11. Good afternoon. I'm trying to find out what color is on this 1977-1978 Arizona Highway Patrol Dodge Monaco. Unfortunately, this is the only quality image I have (courtesy of copcar.com). I'm looking to see if anybody might know the specific Chrysler paint code so I can try to find a close match. Thank you in advance.
  12. Nice! Any news on who might cast copies for sale and when?
  13. The roof proportions are off, make no mistake about it. However, looking at finished versions of this kit over the years, this model will still very much look good if time and effort is spent on making it look good. A two-tone paint job usually minimizes the height difference as it distracts away from the roof height issue.
  14. Here's a set from San Diego, probably from the 90's. http://www.policecarmodels.com/1omdesandish.html
  15. I've had the intention of buying a piece from him since last year, but he won't answer my emails or the message option on his page
  16. Outstanding. How did you make the light bar mounts?
  17. Glad to see the continuation of the retro box art. The box art depicts a different color scheme and decals from the first issue of the Louisville Coca Cola truck so I'm wondering if the decal sheet will be updated or be a straight re-issue of the previous sheet.
  18. Thank you all! For the record, this started off as a glue bomb I picked up for $10.
  19. Jeff, would this be the same guy restoring a BP Bronco? Especially for a BP car! An authentic, in-service representation would be caked in dirt, have miscellaneous dents, and be missing the full wheel covers
  20. 1991 was the last model year that the United States Border Patrol painted their vehicles white over light green (I don't know the exact paint code). Since the BP bought Caprices as their basic patrol sedan that year, they were the last sedans to utilize this paint scheme before the agency switched to all-white cars with a green stripe the following year. The kit is from Revell, Jetsonic light bar is from the AMT Ford Taurus police car kit, and decals are from Billbozo. Paint is Tamiya Pure White over Tamiya Pearl Green and the side molding was made from Evergreen stock. In retrospect, I should have added a cage for prisoner transport but we will just say this is a supervisor's car. This is my second complete kit and again, I learned a lot from it. I mostly got to work on my BMF techniques. The only real mess up I had was that I accidentally spilled glue on the front windshield, something I was not able to fix. The real deal (courtesy of copcar.com):
  21. It looks great, just like you promised! I will definitely be one of your customers for this.
  22. How funny, I have the same exact plan for my Modelhaus Impala. Lucky for you, I've already pulled the legwork on research. LAPD used 1982 Chevrolet Impalas (there is no difference between the 1981-1985 models) equipped with black rubber floors, tan interiors, and split front bench seats. The 1982s were, to the best of my knowledge, the first models to come equipped with MDTs as standard. For whatever reason, the LAPD Impalas had black c-pillars, something that no other LAPD squad car has ever had. This is probably the most important thing to remember when doing your model as all movie/TV LAPD Impalas omitted this detail.
  23. Thanks again fellas.
