Thanks Casey. Looks like they really decided to go cheap on this re-pop. They're using the oldish North Carolina Highway Patrol pre-painted car as a base, although the Alabama scheme is on the box. Whereas on the last reissue there were about 5 different pre-painted variants. I would have thought that advertising it as a "police" car would be more marketable than a "security" car but who knows what was behind the decision.

Resin late-model steel wheels?
av405 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you can't find the Revell Impala wheels, these are basically resin copies: http://www.customsquads.com/uploads/1/0/3/6/10365684/2015_new_product_release.pdf -
Somebody did post a comparison thread. I can't find it right now. But the Lindberg kit is far superior to the Revell kit.

Thanks Danno! Here's the picture from their site: Based on the picture, it's pretty much an exact re-issue of their state police series, but with the "security" graphics. So nothing to celebrate Well, at least the display case might entice some.

Does anybody know how the last reissues of the Lindberg CV kit did? I still see a lot floating around. At this point I'm just waiting to see what new decals/equipment they are reissued with, if any.

HAHA, if you want, I guess I could, by the way, nice avatar pic, that commercial is on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j-qy1s1RIM Yep, that's where I got my picture from.

I was looking at the Tower Hobbies website recently and came across this page for a 1/25 Bld/Dsply Security Car (Crown Vic): http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFATV&P=W#tech My brain tells me that it's just going to be another reissue of their 1996-1997 Crown Victoria (which was re-released just a few years ago). But does anybody have any news on it and if it may be a new model?

Thanks guys, I'm just waiting to hear back from them. I haven't receive a response in a few days.

How's the quality? There's an ongoing WIP thread about a P&P Chevy C-6500 cab and the OP complained about the poor quality. The pictures didn't make the product look great: Just curious to know about people's experiences. Thanks

It all does, thank you!

Which have you used? 91%?

As always, great advice Bill. I didn't mention this earlier, but I actually bought the model from the deceased builder's daughter. I promised that I would restore her father's build and she gave me her contact info to send her pictures after, saying that it would mean a lot to her. So the way I see it, a total rebuild is out of the question. Paint aside, the original builder did really do a great job with other smaller details. I guess as is the case with many of us, he came up short on the paint. I'll enjoy it for what it is and fix other parts of the car. As for the sticker residue on the hood, should I just continue to try to gently rub it off with a wet piece of cloth or are there any other suggestions?

So essentially my only choice is to polish out the problem areas and leave a uniformly orange-peel surface?
-
The problem is that there are decals over certain areas of the black paint. Might a polish help out? As Angel posted, that's more of I was leaning towards, although I've never polished out a car.

I recently bought an older Lindberg Crown Victoria police car. The car was built back around 1999 and the original builder did a great job with the model. Well-painted, highly detailed - it's evident that the kit was built by someone with skill and experience. However, when I got it last weekend, it was dusty and some parts had fallen off. I went ahead and carefully wiped away the dust and grime with a slightly wet piece of cloth. It helped the model a lot and it set the template for improvements I can make. However, there is the issue of the paint job. The car is a black and white but the black paint has slightly "deteriorated" in some places, mostly due to what I can only call improper storage: I'm sorry if my pictures aren't great. My photography/lighting skills aren't up to par and all I have is a camera phone. Overall, the paint job still remains in decent condition and I want to keep the car as-is, paint wise, without doing a rebuild. I'm mostly doing touch-ups. However, the hood and trunk are problematic. I don't know what kind of markings are in the pictures but they aren't lines that are coming off just with a quick wash. All I know is that part of the issue with the hood is that a sale sticker was placed on it for a long time and some of the residue still remains. Any help would be appreciated.

If we want to be exact here, I would have put it at around 65% military. It was definitely a bit of a turn-off but there were a lot of good car kits at great prices.
-
I was there yesterday and I agree, it was definitely mostly filled with aircraft and military themed-products. However, I ended up with an unopened version of one of my most highly-sought automobile kits for only $10 and a glue bomb that I liked. I met some great people and had some great conversations. I highly recommend attending this show as you're bound to find something you like.

Kits at Toys "R" Us?!
av405 replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The store I worked in briefly during the winter of 2013 had no kits. But I do remember that about 10 years ago, that very same store had at least an island shelf full of kits/tools. When I went to a different one in Glendale, CA, they had a minuscule section of kits, mostly Revell products. There are kits and supplies listed on their site. -
Hobby Shops In L.A. Area?
av405 replied to W-409's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The convenient thing is that many of the shops mentioned here are off Interstate 10. Along with 2 Hobby Lobbys. That should streamline your route if you're looking to hit up a bunch of these places. -
