  1. The progress photos look good. I'm still interested.
  2. I ordered and received some products from them last fall or so. It definitely wasn't more than a year ago. If they don't reply back in a few days, try reaching them again.
  3. I get ya, I get ya. What I'm trying to get at is that I have ZERO experience with this and would rather not buy right now given that and the price. One day I'll learn
  4. But the front window though
  5. The headlights actually seem like a fairly easy fix. It's the lack of windows that is turning me off from getting one.
  6. I've been seeing this kit by AJ Resins on ebay on and off for some time now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-90-Chevy-Box-Caprice-4dr-Euro-front-resin-kit-lowrider-/112066034090?hash=item1a17a7f9aa:g:jw0AAOSw1DtXJzS6 It looks to be a modification of the Modelhaus Impala. The taillights look good but I am not satisfied with the way the headlights look. And the kit comes without glass, which is a big negative. Any thoughts guys?
  7. Love it! I like how you improvised with the wheels.
  8. Yes, my apologies. I initially coudln't find it. Here is Chuck Most's build of the Revell kit: Here is where he actually compares the two: http://chuckmost.wix.com/madhouse-miniatures#!Crown-Vic-Smackdown-Lindberg-Vs-Revell/ccly/553500460cf23d0164389507 On a related note, Lindberg just re-released yet another incarnation of the Crown Victoria. This is the 4th release and the 2nd in just the past year: http://www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/hl130.htm
  9. We discussed this when the Revell kit was first announced: Somebody made a thread comparing the two models side by side. While I hear the Revell kit is not bad, the Lindberg kit is the best kit as it is much more detailed and well proportioned.
  10. http://www.policecarmodels.com/ Decals: http://www.policecarmodels.com/ohsthipade.html Lightbar: http://www.policecarmodels.com/1lowprledstl.html You get the idea. Search around the site for stuff that you might find useful.
  11. The wheels on the most recent police kit are incorrect for that generation of the Expedition. They belong to 2010+ Expeditions/F-150s.
  12. Though Hummers aren't exactly my cup of tea, I will probably be picking one up given Meng's track record of attention to detail. I'm thinking I can replicate the Border Batrol's BORSTAR/Rescue Hummer.
  13. As impatient as I am to get my hands on the finished product, I'm very happy that you're aiming to be as accurate as possible. Concerning the Modelhaus Impala: It covers the 1980-1985 Impala body but it has the 1981-1985 grill. 1980s had a unique grill.
  14. Based on what is visible, they are both 1981-1985 Impalas, so your IDs make perfect sense. The Modelhaus offers this car as a resin kit, though the status of the company is in limbo right now. I myself have two of these kits.
  15. All this talk of technology and social media is fairly spot on, but can we also talk more about kit subjects out there? I was born in 1991 so I grew up around cars from the 80s and beyond. With the exception of AMT and Lindberg in the 90s (generally speaking), nobody has really focused much on those cars that I grew up around. The hobby is very centered on kits representing vehicles from the 1950s-1970s. I'm not knocking those subjects, and I know why companies choose to focus on these decades to appeal to the majority of model builders out there. However, it would be nice to have more contemporary/semi-contemporary subjects to focus on younger generations. Some great kits that fit this bill have been released these past few years, but it is clear where the focus of the model kit companies lie. I am always envious of the wide spectrum of time periods that the armor community has to work with, especially with modern subjects. Just my 2 cents.
  16. That is correct. It was only the first few years of this body style that had the FORD lettering on the grill. I want to say it was 1980-1981, just like their smaller light duty brethren.
  17. Outstanding! And I would vote for the 86-90 Caprice next. The Impala name was only attached to the pre-1986 models.
  18. Hearing this makes me even more excited since Greg Wann does excellent work. I already have a few of his Mustang LX bodies and they are superb. As for the talk of the Caprice: A few weeks ago I was talking to one of my agency's EVOC instructors/testers and he stated that finding out that the Caprice would be discontinued in a few years factored into the decision to not invest in a Caprice fleet. We only have one for PR purposes.
  19. Great update, thanks. Are you talking about Greg Wann?
  20. This was my mistake for not being specific enough. It IS the 1983-1984 grill, but as pointed out it's the base version of the one offered on the Deserter kit. The headlight arrangements are a bit different but the grill itself is the same.
  21. That's the 1983-1984 grille, which is the one in the MPC Deserter kit. Unless I'm somehow misunderstanding your question?
  22. Any news or pictures? Sorry, I'm impatient!
