  1. For a while now I have been following some of robertburns' resin creations here on this forum, some of which he has offered to sell so long as there is enough interest. For reference, note these two topics that he started: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92000&hl= http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101507&hl= As I am mainly interested in emergency/commercial models, I approached Robert Burns via PM about the possibility of him making 1/25 resin kits for the police versions of the 1990-1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria and the 1987-1989 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1, two of my favorite police cars. Mr. Burns showed interest in doing so if he could get at least 10 commitments for each car, of which I have already spoken for 2 of each. So with his permission, I am posting this topic to garner up interest in getting these cars kitted by Mr. Burns as I believe there are many possibilities out there, with both stock civilian and emergency cars possible. So I've mentioned the make and models, now let me explain why I specifically chose the years I mentioned. Here is a picture of a 1990-1991 LTD Crown Vic: The 1988-1991 models were all essentially the same except that the 1988-1989 models had a different dash/steering wheel and steel wheels than the 1990-1991s. Unlike the 88's and 89's, the 90-91s were used by far more agencies, including the LAPD, California Highway Patrol, etc. Depending on how much work Mr. Burns would want to do, the Lindberg Crown Victoria chassis and wheels could be used as the wheels are identical. Then there is the 1987-1989 Caprice: This car was used by just about almost law enforcement agency out there. I didn't choose the '86 Caprice as that version had 1-year specific headlights. Again, I'm thinking that the Revell Caprice kit could be used for the chassis and correct wheels and wheel covers. Mr. Burns has given me a price for each kit, although I will not post it as it might violate the rules of this site. PM me if you want the figure. All I can say is that it is a reasonable amount compared to other resin kits. Please, let's keep the discussion in this thread to these specific car requests. This isn't really a thread to submit requests of what people want, what could be better, etc, but to see if people would be interested in a kit of either one or both of these two specific cars.
  2. I once witnessed a multi-vehicle chain reaction involving 3 contractor trucks, 1 with a compressor. I immediately stopped and pulled the driver of the offending truck out through his window. He had a broken leg and a bloody gash on his face. I then assisted the other drivers. As soon as I pulled the offender out, he told me he wasn't the driver and that the actual driver was running down the freeway The first officers that arrived to assist was an LAPD SWAT team that happened to be rolling by in an armored Suburban. The highway patrol later got my statement. So yeah, even when you're just trying to be a good Samaritan you can get caught up in some fishy stuff. That was an interesting day, to say the least...
  3. It doesn't matter what year you order as they're all the same. That same style of hubcap was used by Ford on the 1990-1991 LTD Crown Victoria and the 1992-1997 Crown Victoria. They're designed specifically for the Lindberg kit.
  4. Brandon, I know we were talking about your project earlier. I can definitely attest to the quality of the Modelhaus products as I have 3 sets of those from them and they are superior. I also have some Custom Squads products (though not the CV caps) and they too produce good quality items. Remember that Modelhaus is closing its doors in 2017 so get them while they're still made.
  5. I would be interested in the truck. The grille wouldn't matter so much to me as long as it was something from the 1981-1993 range. I'd be interested in the Ramcharger only if it was also an 80's model. And I agree with Tommy's sentiments.
  6. Nice work! A few other things I noticed: -Is it just me or does the Revell car not look as well-proportioned as the Lindberg car? Something looks a bit off... -The headrests on the Revell car are very toy-like compared to the realistic-looking ones on the Lindberg car.
  7. I'm actually currently working on an old kit myself. The interior was painted with acrylic paints so Windex window cleaner did the trick. I've tried Easy Off on the outside and it's working VERY slowly but surely. Tomorrow I'm going to buy some Purple Power degreaser and see how that works out as many have seemed to have luck with it.
  8. Epoxy huh? Thanks guys! I'll give it a try. Do you recommend a specific brand? @fseva: I really want to leave them on. Apart from the fact that I plan on painting over the area that will be glued, I want to practice my skills at putting things back together. As it is, it wasn't the only piece that I broke while disassembling the kit, just the biggest one
  9. I have a Whelen Edge lightbar that originally came with the Classic Metal Works diecast Crown Victoria. I have a clear one and one molded in all blue. I can send it out free of charge to you if interested.
  10. I'm currently restoring a glue bomb and while removing the front window from the body, I accidentally broke off a piece of the visor (they are attached to the glass as one body). I plan on painting the visor portion down the line so I just want to know what the best glue is to reattach the broken piece of the window. Thanks.
  11. This looks great! I love the regular, run-of-the-mill fleet trucks.
  12. Thanks! That's the bottom line for me
  13. Well part of it has to do with the fact that I like the look of the KW a bit more than that of the Freightliner. Both are comparably priced right now and I'm not really interested in having both of them.
  14. Thanks guys, these are the answers I was looking for. I have the Freightliner, so looks like I'll be posting in the trading section soon. I love 70's era trucks, so that's why I want to go down the AMT route. I was wondering if any of you could go into more detail about your KW build ups and what it took to "get it right." Thanks.
  15. I'm not a truck guy but I would like to give a go at building one. Which one of these two would you guys recommend for a big rig novice? I've heard that the Freightliner has some fit issues. I would appreciate any opinions.
  16. For a 90's era kit like the Ranger (I have a strong interest in 90's vehicles), I'm not really willing to pay more than $25 on ebay. Anything beyond that seems like a waste and the kits aren't so rare that I can't just wait until a better deal pops up.
  17. Will Revell be producing a kit of any of the models that have been proposed since his whole thing started?
  18. I gave them a call and left a voice mail over a week ago but still no reply on any front.
  19. Nice! This is my favorite build up of this kit so far. What did you use to add the horizontal side trim?
  20. I use 91% rubbing alcohol. Works like a charm.
  21. I sent a follow-up email and still no answer. I hope all is well.
  22. I emailed them on Tuesday about an inquiry but still have not received a reply. I was really interested in two of their cabs. I hope things are well and that I can hear back soon.
  23. Thanks a lot for the suggestions guys. I'm definitely getting answers from across the board but options are always good. @espo: What semi gloss would you recommend? I haven't worked with it before.
