  1. The problem is that there are decals over certain areas of the black paint. Might a polish help out? As Angel posted, that's more of I was leaning towards, although I've never polished out a car.
  2. I recently bought an older Lindberg Crown Victoria police car. The car was built back around 1999 and the original builder did a great job with the model. Well-painted, highly detailed - it's evident that the kit was built by someone with skill and experience. However, when I got it last weekend, it was dusty and some parts had fallen off. I went ahead and carefully wiped away the dust and grime with a slightly wet piece of cloth. It helped the model a lot and it set the template for improvements I can make. However, there is the issue of the paint job. The car is a black and white but the black paint has slightly "deteriorated" in some places, mostly due to what I can only call improper storage: I'm sorry if my pictures aren't great. My photography/lighting skills aren't up to par and all I have is a camera phone. Overall, the paint job still remains in decent condition and I want to keep the car as-is, paint wise, without doing a rebuild. I'm mostly doing touch-ups. However, the hood and trunk are problematic. I don't know what kind of markings are in the pictures but they aren't lines that are coming off just with a quick wash. All I know is that part of the issue with the hood is that a sale sticker was placed on it for a long time and some of the residue still remains. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. If we want to be exact here, I would have put it at around 65% military. It was definitely a bit of a turn-off but there were a lot of good car kits at great prices.
  4. I was there yesterday and I agree, it was definitely mostly filled with aircraft and military themed-products. However, I ended up with an unopened version of one of my most highly-sought automobile kits for only $10 and a glue bomb that I liked. I met some great people and had some great conversations. I highly recommend attending this show as you're bound to find something you like.
  5. They just posted on their facebook page with a new email address to order through: https://www.facebook.com/pages/P-P-Resin-Works/275972212451174?sk=timeline
  6. The store I worked in briefly during the winter of 2013 had no kits. But I do remember that about 10 years ago, that very same store had at least an island shelf full of kits/tools. When I went to a different one in Glendale, CA, they had a minuscule section of kits, mostly Revell products. There are kits and supplies listed on their site.
  7. I have one of these tops. Very nice quality. I've been waiting to see someone else perform the conversion. Will you be doing it anytime soon or is this just a review of the resin pieces?
  8. I was just at the Puente Hills Mall in Industry, CA this past weekend. The initial DeLorean scenes from Part 1 were filmed at the mall's parking lot.
  9. The convenient thing is that many of the shops mentioned here are off Interstate 10. Along with 2 Hobby Lobbys. That should streamline your route if you're looking to hit up a bunch of these places.
  10. Nice work! Where did the wheels come from?
  11. The latest issue (the one with the retro box art yellow truck) does not contain the tractor parts.
  12. Nothing new yet. As I stated in the post preceding yours, I'll update this thread whenever I have anything new
  13. I don't take it as criticism I'll update if I receive any news since Robert never posted on this thread.
  14. http://www.modelsbydave.com/ He makes the 1979-1982 grille in resin. I have two of them and both are excellent pieces. All you need to turn it into a 1983-1991 grille is to add the Ford oval in the middle. It's not listed on his website so just email him directly. He also goes by "cargostar" on this forum.
  15. I guess that says something about my dedication
  16. Honestly it's not that bad. Certainly not worse than many other areas of the metropolis. Plus it's located next to the Kaiser hospital so it's in a pretty busy area. As for the night comment: I mean, who's going to go to the hobby shop at night anyhow? LA County's last move drive-in is located not far from Tony's as well.
  17. I understand, and I actually feel the same way. I did have to take a bit of a leap of faith in initiating this but I figured it was better than sitting back and endlessly wishing. I've sent you a PM. Hood will be sealed and windows will be supplied according to the possible caster.
  18. You should definitely send him a PM to ask. I don't think he will be responding on this thread.
  19. It's not being designed around any kit from my understanding. I'm sure the chassis from the kits might end up fitting but I only mentioned the Lindberg and Revell kits as possibilities for a more detailed chassis and because they would provide the correct wheels.
  20. Thank you all for the feedback. Given the limited space I have to work with, I'm inching more towards making this purchase. Especially if people have used lacquers with it with no problems.
  21. Thanks for the pictures! I assume you use an airbrush? From what I've been reading and understanding, it looks like this might not be well-suited for Tamiya/any type of spray cans.
  22. The Lindberg CV kit will be the closest bet I'm sure. As I mentioned before, at the very least it'll have the correct wheels.
  23. I gathered up numerous reference shots for Robert, including of the interior. If he asked me for interior shots, I'm sure it means he's serious about producing an accurate product.
  24. UPDATE: Chassis will be flat with no detail. The kit will not come with wheels. As I mentioned earlier, the Revell Caprice should provide the correct wheels and wheel covers for the kit. The Lindberg CV kit will likewise provide the correct wheel covers. Modelhaus has the correct dog dish covers of the era for both the Caprice and the LTD.
