I don't know how great of luck you are going to have finding "make it suede". It's been discontinued for a wile now and you may as well rename it to "unobtainium". LOL

Thank you kindly, Sir. I really tried to put some personal touches to it that I hold dear.
  5. Looking nice. I've been wanting to build this exact Deuce for ages.
  6. Very nice so far. I personally would go for 3,4 or 5 as far as wheel options go, with number 3 being my favorite. I love the color combo. I have always been a fan of two tone interiors.
  7. I can’t speak for the rest of them, but the Mysterion I have built in the past and to describe it as challenging, would be an understatement. Great job on a fine collection of significant show rods. You have two more to go.
  8. Looking great. Just to add, these cars didn’t have carbon trim on their doors. The entire door was made from carbon. They just didn’t paint the B-pillars. Great job on the decals. Are you clearing it after the decals?
  9. This. Being around for ages now. Usually can be found online for less than what a new kit goes for ourdays. Two choices of wheels, two choices of engine (a small block Ford and a nice flathead). The most accurate ‘32 frame made to date in 1:25. Easily converted to from Tudor sedan to Sedan Delivery. Can be build with or without fenders. My comment was complimentary to your efforts. It doesn’t change the fact that the kit is a joke. I, for example, don’t have the patience or skill to make that kit look good. Or rather, I don’t think it’s worth the time or effort, when there is a so much better kit that you can start with, available at pretty much the same price.

Thank you. But the car is not quite finished yet. I’m currently working on the rear shocks and the radiator hoses. Then the top hood still needs to be polished and the uderside of it painted. Then it would be finished. Maybe even some valve stems. And about the “Make it Suede ” spray cans, I used to do the same thing.
  11. Holly thread resurrection, Batman!
  12. I am really curious to see how this comes out. Considering the relative availability of the Revell ‘32 Sedan and the very reasonable prices it could be found for, I really don’t understand why would anyone invest the effort in building this. This is why I’m dying to see if anyone can create a decent model from this dog of a model.

Thank you. Something I need to clarify about the license plate is that the picture is very misleading. The plate is nowhere as visible as it looks on the picture. Because of the colors of the plate in person you can easily miss it if you didn’t know to look for it. It is also easy to pass up the fact that the grille is actually see through and the plate demonstrates the depth behind the grille.

I personally find it to be too coarse for 1:25 scale tops. The best thing was a product by Krylon (if I remember correctly) called “make it suede”. It used to come in small cans. Unfortunately they discontinued it. It used to come in variety of colors and was priceless for recreating alcantara in interiors or vinyl tops.

No problem. Just careful with the nozzle on it. This material is very thick and coarse and plugs the nozzle very easily. I have a somewhat small WallMart about two blocks from home. It is a place where I have sourced so many cool stuff for modeling.

Thank you. It’s almost there. Should be done tonight or tomorrow. Then I have to concentrate on finishing the next one out of the half a dozen projects.

Well, it is a multitude of things. It is actually a thing often seen on 1:1 street rods, which I just happened to get a kick out of, as it does not interfere with the Deuce clean design. Then, the way the Revell grille is designed, it shows where the grille-shell/radiator is glued to the crossmember, when you use a see trough pe grille. I have addressed the issue on previous models, but I forgot it on this one, so I needed to cover up that joint. Also I wanted a whisky state license plate. Kentucky or Tennessee. But apparently, kit manufacturers have made decals with plates from every other state, but those two. So my next option was to get a plate that was a) vintage b) in colors that suited my needs c) from a state where money laundering would be associated with. What better place to tick all the boxes that California? Besides I needed it to be in a size that would perfectly match the size of the various photoetched license plate frames I have on hand. Trust me when I tell you, not a single piece on this model has been put on it by chance.

Thank you. The “german carpet” was just a joke, but this is what it is.

About that grille.......... I don't know how finicky one finds bending the crank-hole piece, but cutting the hole in the grille bars without bending anything out of shape was a biatch. The cut up grille attached with some 5 min epoxy to the grille shell. I tried to polish the photoetched grille surround piece provided with the MCG set, but I was not happy with the results. There was no distinct difference with the brushed part of the grille and the piece was flat. So I visited my local WalMart across the street for inspiration. 26 gauge shiny copper wire with chrome finish seemed something worth trying. Nine point three yards for two bucks beats any aftermarket offering any day, so I decided to give it a try. Next I needed a "jig" to curve the wire to the proper shape. For the purpose I sanded a stock grille piece from the kit to the point where it would sink in the grille shell enough to give me the inner edge space to form the wire to. It came out pretty good I think. I am more than happy with the end result. Now I have an honest traditional grille, with brushed bars, chrome rounded surround, crank-hole and all. Thanks for looking and stay tuned....

I hear you about the bend in that little piece. But hey, it’s only 11:30pm here, I have all night. ? after all that crank hole talk, my heart sunk, as I found out that I have four different MCG grilles and no crank holes! ? Took a little digging, but I found one. ? Brushed insert, polished surround with a crank hole it is then. thanks for everyone’s input.

Thank you. Your input is appreciated. I was kinda thinking the same thing. For some reason, I feel that if the grille is painted it would have to match the firewall on a rod with no side hoods. I was contemplating about painting the grille same maroon as the body, leaving the “chrome” surround. But then decided that it would have looked cool if the wheels were some kind of silver, so that option got scratched. I was very hesitant about yellow grille and I am glad everyone is pointing me away from it. Thank you guys.

I was kinda leaning toward the all silver look too. Thanks for your input. Yes, that’s the grille I am going to use. It is funny that you mention the crank hole, as I was thinking that I should definitely add it too. In my case the reasoning was that I’ve never used it in the past, but now it is going on for sure.

Now a question for everyone. I need your opinions. Should the grille stay all chrome or should it be yellow, like the wheels and engine? Any and all opinions welcome.
