  1. It has started.. the first cuts are the hardest! Once committed, it becomes easy!
  2. At this point I’m just looking to have a boat tail speedster. Right now I’m busy mating this body to a 30 Ford phaeton cowl.
  3. Agreed! We do want to move back to NJ to be closer to family and friends. We also have a big house we no longer need or want to take care of. We have no real reason to be in PA anymore. We probably are looking at 55 and over too.. just cannot get motivated to do it! Good luck with the move. Hope it’s a much better situation for you!
  4. I had put aside thoughts of this project and fabricating an entire body around that 40 Ford hood. Then yesterday I came across an old built Auburn in my hoard. I forgot I had it in a box with a few 1930s junkers. This body should work well on a Monogram 1/24 Model A chassis. It will need to be widened slightly at the front to accept the Model A cowl.
  5. Probably full speed! Many years ago I went to Toledo NNL by myself, driving from NJ through Pennsylvania on Interstate 80. On my way home I passed a 1960s VW bus going about 55 mph.. it had Vermont plates on it. I took a rest stop about once an hour, stopping for 5-10 minutes. And each time I got back on the road I’d pass him again! I assume he never stopped, just kept chugging along!
  6. Ray died a number of years ago. RMR, Ron Andrews has a lot of his old molds
  7. Back when my family owned a service station my bro-in-law, a tall and um portly fellow asked me if I’d mind pulling an RX7 into the service bay... once inside I realized why.. there was no way he’d fit!
  8. Ya know.. it’s a done deal so let’s quit pouting! Some 20 plus years ago the sky was falling.. Hallmark was trying to sell Revel/Monogram and everyone thought Tomy was going to scrap all the AMT/MPC/etc tooling for scrap value.. I wrote a piece for my club newsletter that IF we were a viable market, smaller and nimbler companies would emerge who would be able to work in the market. And what happened? All new companies that are thriving doing just that! History will repeat itself!
  9. Very cool! Where did you see that and do you know a back story? There are also Indian Jeeps built under license by Mahindra.
  10. I forgot about the RHD dash! No doubt to make the Brits happy! I do want to build either a Beetle or street rod with it someday! I already have one street rod with a VW dash!
  11. I like it! It looks like every second one you’d see!
  12. My wife was a big fan! He looked and acted a lot like my father in law. A very likable guy! If I can get 88 years out of my body, I’ll take it! ?
  13. Lack of resources. This was never a Johan kit, just a promo. This was the Okey era kit, which had the interior from a later model, like a lot of Johan / Exel later versions. Okey did the best he could. No doubt the most extensive decals sheets ever in a kit to fix a lot of the shortcomings since he didn’t have the ability to modify the molds.
  14. Very nice kit. Revell of Germany new tool. Lotza interesting details, good quality like the Trabbie. Only down side is that it’s a Euro version car
  15. I find that when I’ve had a bunch of cars, by habit I’d always use the same one.. my sun glasses and other stuff was in the car last driven. And cars wound up blocked in, I’d have to move another car to get it out, so I didn’t bother! And let’s not forget the cars the wife wouldn’t ride in! Those cars then just sat. Why I’m thinning out!
  16. Sold the Jaguar.. too many cars! May sell some more.
  17. Bondage! James Bondage...
  18. Tool probably exists.. wasn’t this repopped not that long ago? Atlantis might have it now
