Here's a photo of a very nicely done Chitty that Marty Neyrinck posted on the udder board... thought you might like it for reference.

29 Window VW/Porsche Microbus

Actually it’s a very good thing to show the trials and tribulations! People naturally think the better builders can do no wrong and that they can’t do it! When folks post their failures, redos and third time a body went into the stripper shows that we are all human and we just don’t get it right all the time. It’s encouraging! Hey maybe if I keep trying and don’t give up... -
Automotive (and other) toys from our childhood

Per old toys... maybe some older folks remember these! This one sits up in the corner of our bedroom! I’ve owned it a long time, someone put it out for trash and I saved it. -

I read that Yuengling Lager beer kills the Coronavirus so I’ve been drinking two of those every day! It’s working so far!

Thanks! Just think of the work done by Cliff and Larry Reed!

Very cool! I’ve built one if the Revell Model As but haven’t done any of their 32s. I need to try one!

Amen. Per the above posts let’s keep a diecast section... but when someone is using a diecast as the basis for a detailed project it’s now a model with a metal body, allow that into the model categories. Give people some leeway with their own judgment.

Super! I followed the build every step of the way, and enjoyed the process! Especially when you ran into obstacles and got past them! -
Very nice! A lot of folks are scared of that kit. Can you describe shortcomings / challenges and how you got past them?

The story- Epicurean Garage is one of our favorite restaurants. Aside from the motor theme, the food is outrageous and the staff friendly. With all that’s going on right now they are doing take out and started donating $5 an order to the local food bank. They are keeping their entire team working and wait staff is even doing deliveries. They send out a daily newsletter and their generosity has been contagious. A local business agreed to match their $5 an order, then a wealthy family added to it and this week a doctor is also donating. Now they are giving gift certificates to local restaurants to first responders and medical personnel to keep the other local restaurants going. Now more than five of them are matching the donations! I’ve always liked their decor and promised myself that I would build this truck one day. With being confined, John Papp started The Isolation 500 group build on Facebook so I thought now was the time! Especially since I had everything I needed to build it here at home. So I worked on this one the past few weeks. I even did decals for it. Then the above story started to take place as I built... Which has taken me here! I wanted to help in my own way but not able to donate a lot of money, why not build some models for them? I had two of the snap version here in my inventory so I wanted to do simple duplicates of my original. This photo shows the first primer layer for the paint scheme. Next color over red primer is gray primer.... Then some flat black! Both the primer red and flat black sit so nicely that I will do vehicles in them someday! And the final color is Duplicolor Forest Green. The trick is that I wet sand this with 420 grit. It’s slow but I have good control to take each spot down to whichever level color looks good. Sanding in a circular motion gives a nicely weathered look layering the spots. Next up is weathering and rusting with Dullcote and Earth tone chalks. That’s a total of five different coats. So we will see how this goes! I can finish the bodies tomorrow and other parts are all primed and / or painted. I’ll see how fast this goes and I will present them to the restaurant to use for fund raising. I can see auctioning them off to high bidders. There seems to be a lot of money being donated now! Wish me luck. I’ll keep this thread going.

No, subtle is cool. People will be surprised when they look under the hood. Now you need to do something interesting with the Mercedes engine!

I like the changes. There are common sense categories that no doubt were changed because people voiced it! One last things I’d like is to allow clubs and shows to make timely announcements on the general boards. It’s fine to have those separate categories but people do not go there. It’s frustrating for events to try to get word out on a change, such as the recent need to communicate cancellations and postponements. I know Dan was trying to let people know about his show going online and his post got moved. I'm still getting a call a week from people asking if NNL East is still on for next Saturday. (No it’s been postponed until September- NJ is on shut down)

A ways back, two jobs ago, our department secretary asked me about a diecast or model of a red 68 or 69 GTO as a Christmas gift to her adult son. I was able to find one, probably Welly or Jada. I did some minor paint detailing and added a N.Y. state plate on the back with his first name and put a Model Car Garage frame around it. He was so happy that he called me to say thank you! That made my day!

Cool! My eldest daughter is an elementary teacher too. She’s taught just about every year and currently teaches first grade, now online too! She participated in a teachers caravan of 35 cars on Friday, touring the town to wave to all the kids! My younger daughter sells software for one of the big names. Sounds like we both raised them right!?

Very cool. Let your daughters know you still have the models. No doubt they have fond memories of that experience! My daughters are 36 and 32 and I built models with them in the same timeframe. I have those models on the top shelf of my display case. My older daughter was here a few years ago and spied them. She was surprised to see that I still had them and that they were important to me!
