  1. Very nice build! I bought two of these. One to build as you did and one for the interesting array of parts for other projects
  2. Very nice work, and you got it done so fast! I’ve always intended to build one of these and should order that box!
  3. Rex, it is so sad that Gary has passed away during these trying times. I get all the MAMA club emails from Tim.
  4. Since we all have a lot of time these days how about a tutorial? I use regular 3M sandpaper for my work... when my father died and I cleaned out his garage, he had tons of sandpaper. I found an entire beer case full. So I’ve never had to buy any in the last 20 years! Years ago I bought this rotary paper cutter for general office work. It’s one of my favorite tools, I use it for different paper cutting all the time. Do you have the souvenir NNL East / Model Car Garage license plates? The paper parts were all cut on this cutter! I cut the sandpaper into 1 x 1 squares. I find this to be a good size to work with, and I get a lot of these from each standard piece of sandpaper. And it’s efficient use of paper! Previously I’d tear a piece off the sheet and it was pretty wasteful. I keep it all in this little drawer unit that sits on my work bench. A Walmart purchase for less than $10 I made cardboard dividers for the drawers so I get two grits per drawer. Each of the piles was one sheet of sandpaper, and it lasts forever. Hope this is helpful!
  5. The dark red rod appears to be the Skipper’s Critter Ford Anglia missing the body.
  6. Everything is closed! Today would have been a Tri-State Scale Model Car Club meeting in New Jersey. Today we would’ve stuffed the goody bags for NNL East, which has been postponed until September. As you said the Jersey Shore Model Car Club is not meeting, nor is the Jersey Scale Model Car Club that Al Meske hosts. I know the Maryland MAMA club isn’t meeting and their May show is canceled. Also canceled but past are the show in Taunton, Mass and the Philadelphia NNL. We are planning on combining the Philadelphia NNL, NNL East and the Diversified Scalerz shows into one event, The Tri-State Trifecta on September 26 in Wayne, NJ. Go to NNL East Website for details. We are planning one heck of a party once this is all over!
  7. Agreed. I love to paint woodgrain
  8. The body is now mated with chassis on the 1950 Chevy pickup. For my early impressions that the kit went together well, are completely changed by the last few steps. The inner fenders do not have a sure fit. And when one of them is slightly askew, the front of the body will not settle down against the chassis. It took me a few tries before I got it, only slightly ahead of the point where it would’ve been aimed at the wall. Now I need to glue the bed on and it seems that with cab secured onto its pegs, the pegs for the bed don’t exactly line up. Let’s see if I can finish this tomorrow. On a better note, I got the license plate made today and I’m pretty pleased.
  9. I like it overall, very cool custom! Per your comments on a different front treatment, I would suggest losing the center of the bumper for a top to bottom grill look and then reduce the mass of the remaining bumperettes to tuck them in.
  10. Just about every Johan annual!
  11. Or redo and print more.. from Acme License plate maker? BTW- you don’t need to print plates on decal stock. I print mine on 110 lb bond paper and white glue them on
  12. Back when I first got into models as an adult, a lot of guys were getting Collectible Automobile Magazine as a source for replica stock build research before the proliferation of the internet. It was expensive and it seemed as soon as you re- upped your subscription, they’d start sending out subscription notices for the next year. i thought about this recently when I saw they were still publishing, although I haven’t seen the magazine for years. Today have people moved on to the Internet or is this magazine still a staple in the hobby? I haven’t seen a copy at club meetings or shows in eons.
  13. Nice truck!
  14. Funny thing.. no problem buying toilet paper or paper towels, but napkins are sold out everywhere! I wanted to barbecue just to have some normalcy. Local Giant market was all out of ribs and fresh wings. They had plenty of packs of legs, so Buffalo Legs it was! We all have to make these sacrifices!
  15. Bad day here at the farm. I thought I’d be finishing up the 50 Chassis pickup but nope! Got into issues slipping the body over the engine and having it nest down on the chassis, wiggled it a bit and crack! the front axle snapped. I do have a parts kit so I cleaned up and painted a new one which is now drying on the chassis. Oh well, no progress, but there is tomorrow.
  16. Sitting out front an old barn near my house. Picture taken on our daily walk the other day.
  17. Agreed! Great job figuring that issue!
  18. Okay, I’m in with my Amish buggy. This one has been sitting a very long time, that’s actually my back yard in NJ and I moved from there ten years ago! Project started with the toy Amish buggy I bought from a G Scale dealer. It’s large as far as an actual Amish buggy, but good for this project. I don’t think I will waste the resin Ford six on it.
  19. Same here! We lived in Izmir, Turkey in 1966 and my father brought them back from a trip to Germany. Then we lived in Germany from 1969-72
  20. Still working on the 1950 Chevy pickup for the Facebook Isolation 500 build. I just glued front inner fenders into the body. May be nearing the finish line.
