  1. There are so many stories and speculations about the aurora funny car kits its frightening. Here is a really good read from straightline modelers group that gives one of the designer's accounts of how they came to be. Long but good read for any drag race fan. http://www.straightlinemodeler.org/aurora.html Sadly I had all of the race scene stuff and all the chassis, engine and body kits before I sold everything off years ago....
  2. yes Ken it was. Lets just say the first body went back to kit form. I got a little frustrated..
  3. bringing this back up from the depths with a new body in tow. I had some serious paint and decal problems with the first body and could not save it. True HoK lacquers are hot and must be applied light and slow. I am heavy handed when it comes to painting sooooo.... Heres round 2. I didnt like the resin Dart bodies available so alot of work goes into a stock body.Hope this one turns out better. we'll see....
  4. The back spacing on "VW" wheels is pretty wide but is always cool to have the Winnebago look. Take a scale 1 1/2 from each side for a total of 3". Makes for a nice tuck...
  5. thanks for clearing that up Steve. 1/16 huh ok. Im a bit bummed on the chevy, oh well Im sure I'll get it anyway...
  6. the cab on the 32 looks pretty good the hood is too long and the vert top looks chopped as does the bed. The stutz is at my local hobby lobby now... Harry, I think the stutz is 25th or 24th scale
  7. Hows this little stutz. Anyone have one AND as some of you know I have a nailhead powered 32 chevy P.U. and this thing just lit me up. anything on it . Good bad otherwise?? Probably should have posted this in the reviews section...
  8. make the cuts to the outside of where the beam mounts to the bulk head and the inside of the shock towers. that's where the 1:1's are cut.... Also find you a set of MPC front runners like whats in the MPC challenger or Mustang funny car kits. I believe they are a perelli (sp). They will scale out close to a 135 series tire that is found on the front of most race VW's...
  9. I really appreciate all the comments guys. Im no Mr Obsessive by any means. Im just trying to scratch out a few heaps. I blame it all my good friend Matt LeBlanc for getting me back to bench...
  10. and yes Dave thats the panhard bard mount
  11. They are HO scale rail road stantions. Thanks Dave, I'll look at Modelhaus or just make them...
  12. Thanks everyone Dave, Im actually looking for some spider caps. Do you know where I can round some up. RMoM maybe??
  13. Heres another update. I bought a set of replica and miniatures of Maryland buick drum brakes years ago and finally found a use for them I had to hog out the wheel backs to get them to fit I then added some length to the spindles here they are before paint heres the rears I got these trick little coilovers from Davzinn and I think they have forund a home.
  14. Tamiya 66 VW without a doubt is the best vw kit out there...
  15. Sorry if this has been answered already but does this version come with a stock firewall...
  16. No need for clarification, I merely mentioned that both companies did hawaiians didnt "specify" year models... Did I mention Im as giddy as a school girl about this leak
  17. Exactly. Its high time we get some "new" drag kits on the market. Dont get me wrong as Burkett has definately filled the void on our drag kit cravings for vintage reissues. Personally I will buy everyone of the new funny car kits I find on the shelf. Im as excited about these and can be.
  18. Its all over the straight liners news group and on spotlight hobbies as well. Quote from spotlight: Revell has announced that they will be offering a new “Chi Town Hustler†’69 Charger funny car to represent the contemporary car currently running at the nostalgia races. It’ll be all-new tooling with the trick offset chassis used on the current real car, and it’ll also incorporate the functional and safety features of the new car. They’ll also be doing a “Hawaiian†’69 Charger funny, also to represent the current car, and it will share the same body but will use a more conventional chassis which they will likely revamp from a vintage Revell piece. They’re both scheduled for early ’10. Sorry, no pics yet. BRING IT!!!!!!
  19. Yes there were both revell and MPC hawaiian kits but from what I'm reading above this will be a new tooling. I hope this is true especially for the Chi-Town car as it was a side by side car as in the driver and the and motor were staggered rather than inline.
  20. I found this on one of the other model sites I frequent. does anyone in the "know" have any info on wheter this could be true. Im as giddy as school girl if this is true "I went to the Hot Rod Reunion at Beech Bend yesterday and saw the Revell booth. I looked at the "coming soon" section and noticed they're coming out with the '69 Hawaiian and Chi Town Hustler Chargers the first quarter of next year. Feller said the were taking extra time with the tooling for the chassis because of the off-set drivers cage, but I can't remember which car he was talking about. Could be old news, but I was kinda suprised. "
  21. Called http://jpspro.com/ and they are still available but at higher price of $56 for a set of four. Many styles and widths. I'll be placing an order soon
  22. turning out to be a nice little truck, I'm really liking it. If I may be so bold next time you Z a frame try cutting your front rails at a 22.5 deg. this will give you a total of 45 deg. IMHO this allows the frame to "flow" rather than make sharp corners... you can get an idea of what Im talking about on my 32's pickup frame..
  23. OK I got the the fishing line envious recommended and heres the outcome. Personally I think this is the way to go. I plan to put two 3 port logs on the firewall to accommodate the 6 lines. also here is a pic of the metallic green Im using. Its called limetime pearl HoK flavor... Personally I think it will be a nice contrast against the pagen gold on the engine. A common twist on 60's east coast cars...
  24. thanks
  25. dont know what size it is. I got it from Davezinn. If its that out of proportion I'll head to the sporting goods store tomorrow and see if I can find something smaller
