  1. When I got out of the hobby 8+ years ago JPS wheels were the hot set-up for aluminum wheel sets. I was buying them from Plastic Fanatic. JPS wheels were machined aluminum one piece wheels and were simply gorgious. there were tons of styles but they werent cheap. I think they were about $40 for a set. JPS still has a website and still has the wheels listed but I wasnt sure. I plan to contact them monday to see if thay are still offering the wheels JPS is a R/C company but sold these 1/24 scale wheels. anyone know if they still offer them?
  2. They appear a bit gangly now but they will be routed down on the left side of each manifold. this should clean things up a bit. with the chrome valve covers and aluminum velocity stacks this should tone down the red fuel lines abit (I hope)I have done the wire clamps before Dave and they will look right at home here...
  3. Here's another small update. I scratchuilt a log manifold set up with 6 97's complete with linkage and some killer red fuel line from fellow partner in crime Davezinn. The carbs are drilled through the top and venturas were added. I found a neat way of applying a wash on the carbs to tone them down a bit and will try it tomorrow. thanks again for looking. dont be shy, ask anything you want.
  4. Good point Dave. More than likely the abuse to the rearend occurred with the previous owner and had little to do with you....
  5. you dont have to be drag racing to do the damage you did. power braking or ever top fuel style long smokey burnout will do the samething if you dont preload. Just remember its a vette, it may be fiberglass but its still a heavy pig... To preload it place your foot on the brake(or set the line lock) and ease into the throttle until you feel the car "bind up" once you do that , let her rip. Im not bashing on you I just know what can cause that kind of damage. Plus (I may be corrected here) those vette rears are pretty weak to begine with so with the "mild" engine and trans work the previous owner did may have played a roll too. fix it a beat the heck out of it some more
  6. The burnouts didn't break the rearend. its the violent act of pulling all the slack of of the drivetrain that did it. when you get it back together remember these three little words, Preload preload preload.... Have fun
  7. I dont think I posted this one here yet. heres a old pic of my 12 sec street VW engine. and the heap it was in I sold it a few years ago to a chopper builder and it had a few seconds of fame on his show. I really wish I still had it..... Im looking for an oval or split for the next one. 66vw, with 2276cc's 48IDA's caldwell recaps 208 HP at the flywheel on pump gas. Der Transaxle shop prostock geared, welded and gusseted gear box.12.88 @ 104mph with 1.65 60 ft times. pure rush to drive... Man I miss it...
  8. the Boss Hoss is a basic reissue of the Mickey thompson mustang. to answer your question at that time when this body style was current there aere tons of guys running non-typical motors (motors other than hemis) check out http://www.70sfunnycars.com/ as there may be some insight on your question...
  9. Sorry for the hijack Envious, Yes thats him. Jesse bought it from me a few years ago and if you watch this weeks episode of Jesse James is a dead man you can see it in the back when they are building his Alaska bike... Cool stuff. Back to Jims build
  10. I cant see the pics you posted due to the firewall at work BUT if you want to know about naturally aspirated VW's heres a old pic of my 12 sec street VW engine. and the heap it was in I sold it a few years ago to a chopper builder and it had a few seconds of fame on his show. I really wish I still had it..... Im looking for an oval or split for the next one. anyway need any help advice etc. hit me up...
  11. the applications are as endless as their are engines. use your imagination and go for it. You can do searches on the internet for real engines an use those as a guide.
  12. thats great news. Now, I wonder if I can get them to send me a few of the "all star series" Revell funny cars from the 70's. hmmmm.......
  13. looks good Wayne. One of my biggest problems is weathering,or the lack of. Something I need to learn how to do.
  14. I built a set of manifolds from brass but didnt like the outcome. I may try a different approach on them and see what happens. I am looking for some clear red fuel or something that will work. Man, I'm starting to think you're the only person that's liking this heap I'm building...
  15. very nice. I have recently started doing some soldering and I was wondering what you use for a iron and how do you control heat with joints so close together.
  16. Alright guys heres another small update. Let me know good bad or otherwise... Built a 6 deuce log manifold out of misc size tubing. I had plans to make them out of alumium and I may still before its over. I have since squared up the runners once I saw they were crooked. Some of you may recognize these headers from a certain Model A that's been in a few mags.( Dave, dont let me down) I have one side done, thats the easy part. replicating both sides is where the fun starts... Any questions comments please let me know... Thanks guys...

  22. Personally, Ive traded with Evilone and it went silky. Its takes a real man to stand up and publicly admit to bailing on his end of the deal. More than I can say for some "adults" on here, Admittedly the school thing and the governor blame is a bit weak. More importantly like Zinn said, Fix the bad end of your deals with the guys you've traded with and make things right. then move on and forget it. Do that and I promise the rest will fall in place...
  23. Whats the story on the the "Hot Rod" kits especially the blue one. I'm digging that...
