  4. times are tough and finding a job in this economy is even tougher. You said it yourself manufacturing sucks right now. You may have to just work with what they are offering until you find something else. I'm assuming you are a single parent or possibly your wife works an off shift from you. Some suggestions are to find someone to get your kids off to daycare or possibly find another day care that is open a little earlier than the one you use. Might be a naive statement but show them you are versatile and it may pay off in the long run. Its possible you already have and this is why they have offered you a pay reduction and job change rather than a R.O.F. The company I work for sustained major flood damage from Hurricane Ike and I thought for sure I would have to start over. $500 million dollars in recovery repairs later we are two weeks away from starting our C2/C3 compressors and resuming production. there are plants around us that will never recover and are being mothballed. leaving hundreds without jobs I guess what I'm saying is roll with it and be grateful you are employed (which I'm sure you are) and just realize they are NOT going to work with you on this. stick it out and start looking for something else.
  5. Hey Dave. Personally I dont use detail master fittings or hose but I can probably help you here. First make up your fittings to fit your particular application. use the wire that fits the back of the fitting and use a small amount of super glue and the wire in the fitting shallow allowing for the hose to fit later. paint it the color you desire (tamiya clear red and blue work best for me. I generally make up one end of the hose and glue it in place by drilling a small hole just big enough for the wire to push into (fuelpump etc)I then lay out the hose to the other point and glue the fitting in place and work the hose into the premade fitting. clear as mud right?? I use Protechs solid core braided hose (by far the best hose on the market) and RB Motion's fittings and have had very little trouble
  6. I get tattooed and build 1:1 traditional hot rods.
  7. My guess is this one? You can use a Polar lights Cuda funny car kit (either the Stardust or Mazmanian) and a set of slixx decals Item number CHFC3/1724 Hope this helps...

  13. Ive been a member there since the beginning. Probably one of the best spots for traditional hot rods. just don't call'em rat rods. they'll chastise you over there. Here's my 1:1 I'll finish it one day...
  14. thanks for all the help fellas. I wound using tamiya tape and it turned out great. I'll post some pics once its in clear...
  15. This sounds like a great option for the kandys that I didn't think of.. Treehugger, I have tossed the idea around of trying the urethanes but until the lacquers are no longer available I plan to continue using Lacquer. I don't think Ive ever seen a model in person painted with urethanes, in pics the paint always seems "heavy" the shine is awesome however. is that the case or is that just my eyes..
  16. thats great to hear. You are one of the few I have heard of that actually liked the Valspar offering. I have some so I may give it a second chance. I'll give the tamiya tape a try...
  17. Dave the stuff at walmart was a joke. Im using the HoK lacquer available through Slixx and Black Gold, its a true automotive paint. sprays like butter...
  18. First of all I’m just now starting to use HoK lacquers. So it’s been a bit of a learning curve. I’m getting some pretty decent finishes with it, but it’s always been a solid paint job with no extras. I have done some kandys but that’s the extent. Ok my question is I have a kandy finish on a funny car and its requiring some black panels. How long should I wait before taping off the panels and shooting the black on the body. Also what tape do you guys recommend? Thanks

  23. Thanks George and everyone else. no turning back now. Chassis is in paint. HOK Blue Blood over a base of white. The front axle is built from brass, soldered and chrome plated. the coilovers are functional and the suspension works.. Thanks for looking...
  24. Just a quick update to let you guys know the frame is done with the exception of some clean up and it will be ready for a coat or three of HOK Blue Blood. This will come later after the rest of the suspension is done.. Here a shot of what the ride height will look like
