Clay Kemp how the heck
Fuel Coupe replied to old low&slo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Clay, Russ and Tim are modelers that I admired and learned from in the 90's when I was first starting build for contests. One thing they taught me was treat was portion of the model AS a model in itself. While I dont feel Ive reached their level of building yet I feel these guys are the reason I build the way I do. -
Thanks Wayne HAHA I know right. I needed a break. Pure hell then The Charlie Allen and the 32 all in one year after a 10 year Hiatus took its toll. Ive started a Piasano Maturbara Vega that will have a little bit of detailing but not too crazy. Once its done I'll finish the saddle Back car and the 32.

A word of advise on these decals or any other SLIXX decals is lots of Decal sol. I have tried the decal set and it just doesnt quite suck the decals down on the body as well as decal sol...

Thanks guys, It was just a quick build I wanted to do just build something wasnt heavily detailed. Theres a couple more Im working on that I may do some small amount of wiring and plumbing on just because....

Is Revell watching this thread, too???
Fuel Coupe replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I may be in the minority here but heres what I would love to see and some would be minimal effort Ivo's twin engine dragster John Peters "Freight Train" AA/GD Stone wood's and cook Dark horse Mustang gasser Big john Mazmanian's opel Kadett I would love to see revell do a series like Polar lights did with the funny car kits from a few years ago and go in with Slixx and offer some one off exclusives... I guy can dream right... -
Very true, The guy was given a golden oportunity and blew it. I think there is plenty here for revell to see and digest for future plans for the line of 32's in the future. The options are endless as is the 1;1 subject. It crosses all fields from the rat rodder to the die hard billet rides. Kudos to you revell, KEEP IT UP. This is definately not some reissue kit with different wheels and tires as brian has stated. brian if you havent bought one or 6 of these from your local hobby shop go drop the money and get one or 6. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you find. Being a street rod builder Im sure you'll find a few things in it that you can enjoy. sometimes its best to keep quiet and be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt....

As usual your missing the point. some people just arent happy with the effort. If you have a complaint take it up with revell in an email to them This thread isnt for that. As far as revell not listening AGAIN ARE YOU BLIND. The 32 5 window is full of parts and options that YOU the MODELER has suggested to them. They are listening.... [Cough Hair pins cough ] Back to the subject Heres a few more for you guys at revell. How about a Y block, early pontiac, or caddy motor. Heck a small block with some period speed parts would be great too. (i believe this was mentioned) some nice Bias plys ( gotta be wide whites) Someone mentioned some lakes pipes. YES PLEASE!!!! Cowl steering, Most which can be borrowed from the Sprint car kits...

I would like to see some split bones or even some Buick brakes as well. How about a suicide perch and a spring behind the axle set up with an stock or undropped 32 axle. All easily done by the average modeler but would still be neat to see in kit form.. Man What I wouldn't give for a stock firewall in the 32 kit...
-
Seriously??? Man have you seen the popularity the 32 brings to the 1:1 world lately??? The mere price alone should clue you in. Go price one. You being a rodder should know this.... I don't think revell is cramming this one down our throats at all. I think they have merely scratched the surface with this one.. LOTS OF DIRECTIONS TO GO IN HERE... I think revell is batting 1000 on this one. For me like Dave has mentioned a pu would fit well into this line up. with a Really nice Nailhead or rocket or even a studebaker V8 ,6 deuce setup, Radirs or even some steelies and spider caps. How about a LeSalle transmission and a early banjo with a quick change option or a winters rearend. definitely a commercial grill... maybe a z'ed frame option. I realize costs are a factor but its some things to look at. REVELL YOU KEEP IT UP!!!!

Any ideas on scratchbuilding headers?
Fuel Coupe replied to charlzrocks's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
To me nothing replicates aluminum better than... well Aluminum. I use a tubing bender to get my bends the way I want them... Heres what I use for a bender . Its a bit tough to use so Ive been looking into this model Take your time and buy a few extra sticks of tubing and give it a try. Most hardware stores carry K&S tubing and its been my experience that its cheaper there than at hobby shops... -
Its just the basic revellution kit. No resin...

Built this one is just a few days. Glue bombed the chassis and primarily worked on my paint and decal skills. Slixx decals with Gallons of decal sol, HoK blue and PPG urethane clear. not the best Ive done but wanted to work out some bugs in my paint/decal work.

Not yet Lyn, But it is in the pile to build. I was extremely pleased when you offered it for sale on the auction site as it was one of my childhood favorites as well as in my collection that I sold off 10 years ago. Its definitely getting built.. -

Not in the least jim. Matt and I never get jealous about plastic. Shame on you Jim for even thinking that way... Lyn I wish I could come help you as well. I'm in Texas and just cant make the trip. But if you want to let go of that funny car and no one has claimed it yet, let me know -
Just a quick 3 day build with no detail at all. Testors Lacquer shot through an airbrush and covered with Shopline 2 part Urethane.. Parts box wheels and tires. I built this one like one of my favorite box art cars from revell put out in the late 60's. I really enjoyed building it...

I was using it in the mid to late 90's. I thinned it with alcohol and I did see the occational fisheye. What I saw most was the paint would get marred when I would pack my models up to bring to shows. Whatever cloth I packed them in would leave marks in the paint which easily rub out but were still nuisance . I have never used a dehydrator so there may in lie some of my problem...
