  1. Well guys, finally had a little time to work on it. All that's left is the interior and paint so it's not too far from done. The interior won't be done until the real truck finally gets finalized since it doesn't have any interior yet. That may take a while because of a bunch of legal estate junk going on which is preventing me from getting the truck for a while. For now I will be working on getting some paint and attempting to smooth out the body more. I ended up only doing the ignition wiring and no fuel/brake lines for now unless I feel up to it. Nothing picture-worthy right now, just a small update.
  2. Amazing work, John. Love the engine and all the little details. Can't wait to see it finished.
  3. Unfortunately those grills are fairly expensive so I just got a nice "pignose" grill to go on it. For some reason, everybody who sees it thinks it's a Ford. That's how rare they are around here.
  4. Well, getting a little more done today. Been pretty busy with college and my newest project. Right now I'm working on the engine and getting it all wired. My "distraction": Yeah, it's a rust bucket for now but they're impossible to find and I got a good deal. Already got a new bed, grill, tires, and other parts for it. I will be rebuilding the engine, tranny, and t-case, lifting it a little, getting rid of all the rust, and shortening the frame to fit a shortbed I have.

  6. The new '37 Ford pickup has a great flathead.
  7. Adam is right, the Syclone has the 4.3 not 3.8, don't know how I missed that part of your post. Your Chevy buddies don't know as much as you think.
  8. I have a compartment-type toolbox that I keep my parts in for now. I'm going to have to buy more toolboxes soon though cause I'm running out of space. I also use old tackle boxes that I find at garage sales and flea markets.
  9. It's pretty easy to make your own. A hobby store near you should carry decal paper and you spray clear over the decals after they're printed. If you don't want to buy a program to make the decals then you can use paint to make the decal you want and then transfer it over to a Word document and size it there. Using word to size the decals keeps the detail. This is what I did when I made some license plate decals.
  10. This is one of the rat rods my friends have. Everything on it is custom built and he only has about $1500 in the vehicle. It is very well built and the only unsafe part of it is the exhaust, which has been fixed.
  11. Not much will be done this weekend, but I do have some small updates. Right now I'm still working on finishing up the engine and chassis. I also got the bed glued together and painted. Next I'm going to be working on the interior. The bed: And mock up of the interior:
  12. That's the worst stereotype I've ever heard. The guys I personally know who have rat rods made them perfectly functional and safe. They may not win any races, but they go, stop, steer, etc perfectly fine. Not all rat rods are death traps like you all make them out to be.
  13. Nice work, I'm better at modifying things than scratch building. I usually stick to making things like wheels and other car components but I did scratch build a Jeep Hurricane and I'm working on a Jeep J10. Have you been to the 3d model warehouse? There are some nice models including my Jeep Hurricane.
  14. Thanks for clearing that up for me, that would also explain why the oil fill tube was on the wrong side. Weird thing is that the Waverider and Syclone share the exact same engine block, tranny, and other parts. Small update: got the ride height fixed, I had to remove two of the body mounts on the frame so the back would sit lower. Been putting the engine together and painting the engine. Should have updates tomorrow.
  15. Awesome car! I've been thinking about making something similar to this using a jeep willys.
  16. Those are nice, did you scratch build all of these? I'm always using Sketchup to make cars and random stuff, but no buildings.
  17. Can't wait to see the outcome, you got alot of work ahead of you.
  18. Hey man, hope you can get what you deserve from the insurance company. I know they're a pain to deal with and will try to lowball you to death. I think they're in the wrong to only give you half what you paid for the tv. Good luck man, just keep pushing the insurance company and eventually they will give in.
  19. Thanks Chuck. I was kinda worried about the leg room in this truck, guess I'm gonna find out when all is said and done.
  20. Hmm.. I want to see if I can do this on my next build. Don't know how I'm gonna do it, but I will try.
  21. Got the chassis finished and painted: Mock-up: Still need to work on the height a little. In the last pic I was experimenting with blocks to lift the front a little. I'm going to put smaller blocks up front cause it's a little too high and shave off some of the frame in the back to lower it. It's messed up because I'm using Syclone drivetrain which is lower than a stock S10. And in the actual truck, the bottom of the bed was raised to fit the frame.
