  1. Great use of odd parts to make something NICE! She's a beauty inside and out. Is that genuine Iris Mist? Evening Orchid?
  2. I like it! The new scheme is quite nice. Good save.
  3. I wondered about the timing on this kit, myself. That would explain a lot. Also, I'd be very interested to see the actual car they measured. While searching for reference photos online, I came across a "restoration" that had the trim so mis-aligned that it should be embarrassing to the builder/body man/owner or all three! (Actual car, not a model) It got me thinking that AMT may have had a less than stellar car available to begin with. You know: garbage in, garbage out.
  4. Nice! She's clean for a Japanese plane. Seems like their paints weathered more severely than others, but they all were new once! Love these float planes myself, got the old Matchbox Heinkel He115 waiting for me in the stash, among others. Hope mine turns out as well as yours. Well done.
  5. Ha! I see that now, I should have gone back a bit further and seen the separate panels being assembled! (Brain fart) Revell captured that old-school look right on with this one, but the '66 seemed a bit flat and shallow on it's vinyl seat textures compared to the '65. I do stand by my opinion of those older kits though, MPC was very good with interior surfaces, though the tubs tended to be a bit shallow, and they could be careless with ejection pin marks. Thanks for the heads-up, Can-Con!
  6. Looks nice, that's a 1000% improvement on that side trim. Engine bay is impressive as well. Great color choice. Well done job on a difficult kit.
  7. Ha! Looks like you had a lot of fun with this build. Reminds me of the old "ZIngers" line of kits! Glad you posted this.
  8. Very nice, period-perfect look to this one. Good, clean build all around, and just has that cover car look! I especially like the way the ribbed bumpers work with the grille; very attractive. Great color for a custom job, too. Very well done!
  9. Very nice looking model. Beautiful shade of blue and great finish on the clear coat. Well done!
  10. That's nice weathering. Espo is right, it looks like a flood victim! Well done.
  11. Would love to see this one finished! Great looking car and great looking model. Absolutely love the engraving on the interiors of these old kits. They had very believable textures to the various surfaces, especially the vinyl upholstery. Your clean detail work only emphasizes this fact. Nice work!
  12. Gorgeous build. Bold color choice paid off beautifully! Well done.
  13. What a nice looking build! Love the color, love the car, love the presentation. Beautiful job, well done!
  14. This is a very stylish color combo, IMHO. I like my whites to have a bit of color like this; not a big fan of "Refrigerator White" on a car. This is beautiful with the dark red interior, and the tube grille is a natural. Nice job, you're crankin'em out!
  15. Congrats, indeed! Wow, that's impressive stuff! Gold medal deserved. Very well done, Steve G.
  16. Nice weathering, and a cool conversion. Looks believable! Well done.
  17. Love those wheels/tires on this car!
  18. Fantastic modeling work being done here. The use of the watch crown was inspired. Boy, these old Vincents just ooze "cool" don't they?!
  19. That really is a nice rich shade of brown. Some are shy about using any kind of brown, but you've shown just how nice it can work.
  20. Pretty sharp! Was there a WIP thread? I missed it if so. Love that metallic gray color; very classy look.
  21. I wonder if that would mean Italeri originally? Am I correct in thinking Testors never actually did their own tooling, but marketed kits tooled by others? I know they used Italeri often, as well as Fujimi, Hawk, Heller, and maybe Pyro.
  22. That's looking nice!
  23. That looks right on! Saw one of these years ago built into a muddy river diorama that was outstanding. That's a great looking kit, I may need one! You really did it justice, and I think your friend will be impressed. Builds with a personal connection are so satisfying. Well done.
  24. It seems they tried a little of everything scale-wise! As I noted above, their late model Super Bee kit was 1/24, and I forgot to mention those 1/24 '37 Ford Ford street rod kits they did. Some of those were showing up at Ollie's stores a couple years back for ten bucks. They build up nice, and are very good sources for modern rod chassis/suspensions. Why they wandered into 1/24 after tooling 1/25 back in the 90s-20000s I have no idea. Maybe someone else's tools? Hoping to appeal more to European market where 1/24 is more "standard" car scale?
  25. Worth your money to invest in genuine high temp automotive lacquer thinner, a quart would last ages and really is different. (In a good way!) I'm in KY, so I know all about your climate issues; much the same environment as you have. Any way, loving this project, and I know you'll whip it!
