Harder than they should be! I traded for 4 separate glue-bomb '66 Chevelle kits just last year, 2 black and 2 red, along with quite a bit of extra parts, and not one of those slotted wheels was present! I think the Early Iron series had wheels that more closely resembled the old "Chrome Slots" that were a chrome plated steel wheel, whereas the ones from the Chevelle represented genuine "aluminum slots" (as we called them then). They are much thicker in the center, obviously. Also, those Early Iron series are getting pricey these days too!

You know it! Too far along to revert back to a Futura stock build, no real point in finishing with a more accurate choice on the shelf now...

Those slotted mags are SO missed. I could use a couple sets myself. They wouldn't even need to plate them, I can spray aluminum finish!

Same here, I had one started and well on its way to becoming a Batmobile when the newly tooled kit was announced. Ain't that the way?

BTW, how does one go about finding one of these bodies to purchase? -

Readily available Impala kits from 1965, 66, and 67 have 119-inch wheelbase, might need to narrow floorpan just a little, but otherwise should fit easily. -
Love the green on "Mr.Speed", but all look really good. Excellent model building. Hows about posting links to the WIP threads when you post several pieces like this? Not just you, I think it would be a good idea in general!

Loved this build; a great looking replica. Well done. Loved the show, too; one of the most memorable and listenable theme scores!

Excellent work!

Ambitious amount of work ahead!

Very nice, methodical approach to the top trim. This is going to be a sharp Chevelle!

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

I'd love to see you warp it a little bit more, and do a "Deal's Wheels" style car-toon vehicle; it has almost perfect proportions for a Dave Deal buildup! Open the rear wheel openings and throw on some High Bloatation rubber, put a blower peeking thru the hood, and a cool straight axle under the front! -
Have at it! I'm keeping this one clean, but I do like that. I considered that one, and also the Plaza spear, which runs from the back bumper to the front of the door. Both are more attractive to me and look less dated than the extravagant Fury trim. BTW, that is looking NICE in black! Wheels are in line with my plans, not exact, but close. More to come! Hmm, that black is screaming for some traditional yellow/candy red flames!

Cool pic! Those chrome reverse look sharp on there. Are those red line tires?

"Vette taillights are a real nice solution. Never understood the '39's design there; a swing and a miss!

That thing is just plain COOL! -
Always wondered about that myself. I wish they'd kept the bezels, especially since they tease you by still including the lenses on the red sprue. That style-line rear end is one of their better, more tasteful efforts too.

Good save, and totally on board with the nostalgia of keeping the old kit on display. Who doesn't have a Monogram '57 in their stash?! I bought a few of them back in the 90s, when K-B Toys stores were blowing them out at like $3.99, buy-one-get-one-half off!

That's looking good!

RAT TRIKE . . .
bisc63 replied to Chappy's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Boy, that's a tough call. It should be done the way YOU like it! IF it were mine, in keeping with the "rattitude" of the build, I would go flat black with some rust stains to indicate these were well used pipes pulled from a junker.- 31 replies

Excellent upgrade to this kit! She's looking nice.

To give yourself an idea of how it will scale, as a rule of thumb you can use a metric tape and each mm will equal 1 inch at full size for a 1/25 scale comparison. This will ballpark it for something that small. Example: Body length of my 1/43 AMX model is 110mm, means a full size vehicle of 110 inches, or 9-ft.,2-inches in 1/25. Too big for a pedal car, I'm afraid.

Beautiful color, it really accents the body style of this Camaro. Looking good!

Very well built model; crisp and clean. A beauty!
