  1. One gorgeous Chevelle, for sure! Classic Candyapple Red show-car effect. Car sits nicely, too. Very well done!
  2. This is a fun build. A nostalgia build, for sure. One of my first ever model car builds was a Pyro or Palmer 49 Ford, 1/32 scale. Putty is definitely your friend on these kits! I'm really digging your modifications on this, and it should be quite a good looking little hot rod when finished. Shapes over all look pretty nice.
  3. SO happy to see this one continuing! Excellent work.
  4. I agree. The "wings" on the bumper ends don't add a thing in my book, that's why I'm omitting them on my 58 Plymouth build. I don't yet know if that was an option on these New Yorkers. I may omit them anyway, as I tend to build models to suit me, the way I'd do the car for myself if it were real, and not as strict replicas. I'm OK with 95% original! In side view, it sort of works to give visual similarity to the rear bumper, but the front view is vulgar.
  5. I've tried half-round before as side trim, and I think the problem with it lies in the taper of the edges. When it's glued down, the edges want to blend and soften because they are thinner there. Pretty much every time I've had to go back and re-scribe and/or dress the edges with a file to redefine them, just like working on trim of an old-tool kit where everything is a bit too soft. Rectangular or round gives you better definition of edges to start with. If I use round, I like to scribe a line centered where I want the trim to go. This gives the rod something to grip as I'm gluing it down; makes positioning easier.
  6. Great looking build; love the creativity that went into this! Needs rattier wheels IMHO, but very successful rat as is! Well done.
  7. Nice! Thanks for posting those interior shots.
  8. These really do look nice properly detailed. I love this build, especially for your color choice. That is a tasty blue! Well done.
  9. Looks cool. It's gonna drink fuel, so I'd put a polished tank from a big semi truck in the bed, sort of a moon tank on steroids!
  10. Congrats on your recovery, and welcome back! Happy to see this build continuing. Very cool idea. Not clear if you ever found the wheels you needed, but a beautiful set can be found in the AMT '57 Thunderbird, scale out to 15-inch size, all four same deep dish. Here's a bad flash photo:
  11. Very Thunderbird-ish front end, Chrysler tail.
  12. This is what inspired me:
  13. Better and better! That chassis is junkyard perfect; looks like one you'd see rolled on its side in the ol' salvage yard back when they were junkyards! Loving this build. I got my eye on an extra Moebius '56 to convert as well, but I'm shooting for the '56 New Yorker convertible ( only 921 built ) after seeing one on the web. What a great body style!
  14. Correct! I was assuming Accel or Mallory 7mm wires as a common standard for race cars in the 70s. I think 8mm wasn't common until a decade later, and no serious racer would have been running 6mmm at that time, UNLESS they were the old solid core wires! ( I used to have a set of those hanging in the shed, finally tossed them; solid copper core in translucent red jacket.) Was the Green Elephant a real race car? You might have to do a little research there...
  15. Bite your tongue! I LOVE the old Buicks, as well as the other GM stablemates of the 50s. I'd love to see a modern tooling of a '56 Olds...or Buick...or Pontiac...or Cadillac...or a '55...or a '57...or...
  16. I love the color too! It has a believable stock appearance to it. I'd kinda like to see one built in this color with simple painted white bumpers and steelies. Nicely done!
  17. Beautiful! Love the realistic finishes, and the color. Very cleanly executed details under the hood put it over the top! Very nicely done; one to be proud of.
  18. That's sharp! Impalas are just cool, no matter how many doors! My dad had a '60 4 door hardtop when I was little.
  19. Very clean build with a gorgeous rich color! Well done.
  20. Very nice build. Like the unexpected color, and the engine bay is especially well done.
  21. Very sleek! Nice color gives it a period-perfect custom vibe. Good job!
  22. Looking really good!
  23. Great looking build. Love the Impalas.
