  1. Always wondered about that myself. I wish they'd kept the bezels, especially since they tease you by still including the lenses on the red sprue. That style-line rear end is one of their better, more tasteful efforts too.
  2. Good save, and totally on board with the nostalgia of keeping the old kit on display. Who doesn't have a Monogram '57 in their stash?! I bought a few of them back in the 90s, when K-B Toys stores were blowing them out at like $3.99, buy-one-get-one-half off!
  3. That's looking good!
  4. Boy, that's a tough call. It should be done the way YOU like it! IF it were mine, in keeping with the "rattitude" of the build, I would go flat black with some rust stains to indicate these were well used pipes pulled from a junker.
  5. Excellent upgrade to this kit! She's looking nice.
  6. To give yourself an idea of how it will scale, as a rule of thumb you can use a metric tape and each mm will equal 1 inch at full size for a 1/25 scale comparison. This will ballpark it for something that small. Example: Body length of my 1/43 AMX model is 110mm, means a full size vehicle of 110 inches, or 9-ft.,2-inches in 1/25. Too big for a pedal car, I'm afraid.
  7. Beautiful color, it really accents the body style of this Camaro. Looking good!
  8. Very well built model; crisp and clean. A beauty!
  9. Hey, thanks for that info and the heads up on that website! Lots of cool stuff to peruse there. BTW, nice job on your sub! I have a soft spot for old kits, nostalgia I guess. I've picked up quite a few Lindberg plane kits, and a couple of old Revell, AND, I have a couple of sub kits, too! I found the Revell German sub that features a cut-away option at a hobby store a couple years back for cheap (old stock), and the Polar Lights Seaview from Voyage to The Bottom of The Sea. ( The smaller first release)
  10. Was that Lindberg or Aurora originally?
  11. Man, I couldn't be happier than to see you back on this project! I even went back and watched that Phineas and Ferb video clip to stir up some good vibes.
  12. Very mean looking rod, in a good way of course!
  13. Ditto! It's like finding hidden treasure, is it not? I missed this one first time around, too, I guess. Beautiful model, beautiful car! I've got an old buildup of a convertible somewhere in the stash I need to bring closer to the bench.
  14. Good custom fodder in the '59 kit; should be interesting!
  15. Really shaping up! Cool stuff.
  16. I'd call that a success on all counts! Great looking model, nice clean build. Well done.
  17. ...and another good read! Good looking little Spit' after the effort. I love your sentiment about building a Hasegawa if you want the details, but build a Matchbox for the simple modeling experience. As much as I love the Spitfire, though, I have to say I'm always a little let down by the clipped wing variants, aesthetically. That beautiful elliptical wing! I know it was an aerodynamic improvement, but something was lost. A well built model is a well built model, though, and you did the ol' girl right. Always fun to see a plain-Jane kit brought up to a high standard. Thanks again for sharing!
  18. Beautiful build! When I picked up one of these kits, a buddy that was tagging along said, " You've GOT to build the stock version!" After seeing this and just how nice it can look, I tend to agree. You nailed the look perfectly! Very well done.
  19. Somebody had some wild imagination way back when! From the days of wild customs, it looks the part. Good color choice! Is that a Tamiya color?
  20. Nice job! One of my favorite years and body style of Mustangs, and you even painted it the right color! ( Love me some red cars, looks bright red on my screen )
  21. +1 to all that has been said. Downright elegant colors for a Hot Rod! What car wouldn't look great in those colors?!! You have the Rodder's eye for sure.
  22. Came out SO nice! I really like that creamy, off-white interior; looks very authentic. Whole build is a tremendous success, and was fun to watch develop! Well done.
  23. Off to a good start! Not my main interest, but as automotive engineering goes, they are interesting constructs. I have built ( for other people) a couple, and I believe that nowhere is it more important to dry-fit and test EVERYTHING before gluing to get the model to sit right. Looks like you're up to the challenge!
  24. This one always reminded me of a the kind of car you would expect to see on the cover of Car Craft magazine in the mid-'70s. Very cool.
