MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Having purchased my kit yesterday, I had a closer look at it today. As Junkman suggested, there are indications another variation of this car may be in the pipeline. Apart from the separately moulded wheel arch flares, there is a faint outline of a fuel tank opening on the side of the right quarter panel, as on the street car (this kit has a rally fuel tank cap assembly on the top of the quarter panel).
  2. Just got mine from a vendor at a local model contest. He wanted 40 eur initially, but let it go for 35, which is a fair price. Not a bad kit, it even includes a small PE fret with the grille piece, among other things, but really not worth much more than what I paid for it, to be honest.
  3. I have both these kits in the stash, and yours are a real inspiration!
  4. Fantastic build and photos!
  5. I’ve always wondered what the bash between these two kits would look like, and it looks great!
  6. I understand, of course, plus shipping, but it still might work out cheaper than 80+ dollars, which really does seem a bit excessive for an Italeri kit in 1/24 scale, anywhere in the world.
  7. They are not cheap in Europe, at about half that (40 eur or so), but 80+ dollars seems a bit unreasonable. May well be cheaper ordering from Europe.
  8. I just got mine on Friday in a shop in Austria. It’s a nice looking kit. The 2 in 1 is indeed just LHD/RHD, but it’s nice both options are available. At first glance, the kit should build up nicely, and the body trim is separately molded so no tedious masking required! Unfortunately, the doors can only be built open or shut, but I’m sure a skilled modeller can scratchbuild a functioning hinge of some sort. Tires are kinda iffy looking, but that too can be sorted out fairly easily with aftermarket replacements. All in all, I think Heller did a decent job with this one, and I see no reason for it not to be a popular kit. Pro Scale paints also already made a full lineup of original body colors for it, so now to make a hard choice between blue and green!
  9. Pro scale paints in the UK have a decent selection of engine colors:
  10. Correct! 😎 and I agree 😁
  11. I nominate my car 😝 most people dislike the primer look, but I dig it 😎
  12. I wouldn’t say I profit from it per se, but I do keep an eye out for model kit lots, keep one or two interesting cars for myself, and resell the rest to make my money back. That way my “profit” is a “free” kit or two. Even if I do make a little extra cash on the sale, I put that difference aside for supplies and aftermarket parts. So, really, I only occasionally flip kits to support my hobby, not to make a living.
  13. This is by far the best Milner coupe in scale I have ever seen!
  14. Very interesting project! Hope you continue it soon! Greetings from a Skoda VRS owner 😎
