Well, that sounds a bit thin, as they say, plus I've read there's strong indication he did it... Supposedly she called 911 earlier saying he's threatening to kill her, and he has threatened to kill people with an AK-47 before. Not to mention his well documented mental issues and substance abuse...

Ferrari 250 SWB model kit ID
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the replies I am now also fairly certain it's the Italeri kit, which makes me much more interested in this box... I shall, therefore, bid accordingly -
I'm looking to bid on a lot of built up Ferrari kits, but my bid will very much depend on whether the 250 SWB is an Italeri or Esci kit... This is the best pic I have available... If anyone can make out which kit the 250 SWB is I would much appreciate it. Thanks

It's the stock bumpers, like on the pic of the car above

Nice car... This might just get me inspired to continue with mine BTW, if you need a stock bumper, I have one for you... Let me know.

Even though it has caused some controversy and debate, this is fairly common practice around the world... Oftentimes decomissioned ships, busses, trains and even military equipment such as tanks and other armored vehicles are intentionally submerged in order to form artificial reefs (after thorough decontamination of course) for various purposes... Yeah, I guess it does remain to be seen what becomes of this... They did attract some money from the Middle East, apparently, and built up to 8 cars by now (allegedly even sold a few), but I don't think the owner has real aspirations for major production, he sees himself more as an innovator not necessarily a car manufacturer over a long run... From what I heard, the business plan consists of building something like 20 cars in total, and then I suppose the technology will most likely be sold... Some sources estimate its worth at 70 million euros as is right now... Either way, as impressive as it is, at a price tag of over 1 million dollars per car, this will hardly be a commercial success I am just proud that the fastest electric roadgoing vehicle ever made, that also gives most internal combustion powered cars a run for their money in terms of acceleration and top speed, comes from my home country, that's all In reality, it would be nice to see someone utilize this technology in more affordable, "normal" cars, and it is in fact just a matter of time before that happens... This is the future!

I do agree with the coupe, but Revell/Monogram do have a regular, non-Shelby 65 2+2 fastback, don't they? As far as I know nothing in particular distinguishes it as a 66 (as the 350R and Hertz rent-a-racer, based on the same tooling)... I could very well be wrong, however...

Yeah, this kit is a bit of a dog, unfortunately... I've also been building a track-day sort of car for the past six-seven years now, but I get put off every so often and set the kit aside for a year or so at a time while I focus on something less exhausting :/ I don't feel like posting all of the pics here, so you can check them out in the two topics on a Croatian forum I am a member of... It's in Croatian, but the pics are quite self explanatory and might give you some ideas, even if my project is still quite rough and nowhere near complete http://www.maketarstvo.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11792&highlight=mustang+coupe http://www.maketarstvo.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14905&highlight=mustang+coupe

I only just noticed this topic... I had that fastback body, it's traded now, but I got it a while ago in another trade here, along with the Revell Olds, and I was told it's a Jimmy Flintstone piece... Either way, I tried it on the Revell chassis and it fit perfectly I hope this helps...

Havana Motor Club
PowerPlant replied to Matt Bacon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was there in 2012 and I can tell you - Americans were everywhere, mostly in on charter flights from Mexico and Canada, and to a lesser extent from Europe... US dollars could be exchanged at reasonable rates at most hotel receptions in Havana... Customs officers were also considerate enough not to stamp passports, especially American ones, but instead issued separate "visas"... All in all, they were very forthcoming towards "forbidden tourists" such as Americans Cuba is a great place to visit, I can recommend it to anyone, and even if it is quite poor, it is one of the safest and most beautifully serene countries I have ever been to. I just hope it remains unspoiled Oh yeah, if you do go, make sure to take any old clothes, t-shirts, caps (especially with various logos), make-up, toiletries, crayons and pens! Seriously, these will be most appreciated by any Cuban, and small gifts like that can go a long way in Cuba -

That's on the Discovery show "Cuban Chrome" A lot of them run old American cars with unusual engines, from boat motors to old Russian truck and Lada engines -

Having visited Cuba a few years back, it is fascinating just how resourceful and ingenious even an average Cuban is when it comes to car maintenance... I can only imagine what enthusiasts must be like. Definitely one of the most genuine automotive experiences in my life... Thanks for the link -

Cool, but both of the above are well established recording artists, not exactly nobodies -

http://blog.caranddriver.com/ex-stirling-moss-ferrari-is-the-second-most-expensive-car-ever-to-sell-at-auction/ Of course, a Ferrari... But not just any Ferrari; the car driven by Stirling Moss at the infamous 1958 Cuba GP non-championship race, when rebels against the government of Fulgencio Batista, led by Fidel Castro, kidnapped reigning world champion and Maserati driver Juan Manuel Fangio... Driving his Ferrari, Moss led the race, which was started regardless of the kidnapping, until it was flagged after six laps due to a crash caused by another Ferrari, killing seven spectators... Alleged buyer is Argentina and Barcelona FC football player Lionel Messi.

Wow! Simply amazing model! Are those rear view mirrors from the box, or are they aftermarket/parts box items?

Jo-Han 1970 Cadillac Eldorado
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for comparing it to your kit and confirming that both taillights are present, Dan! That was my biggest concern, everything else seems to be there, now there's just hoping that hood isn't too far gone to fix. -

Once again, thanks for all the input, guys, it's much appreciated Anyway, I spoke with the seller and he says the kit is complete, including both taillights, so I decided to bite the bullet and buy it hoping the hood won't be too far gone to fix. -

I wasn't really wondering about the accuracy of taillights, but accuracy and details of the kit in general... The issue with the taillights was whether they are there or not And if this kit isn't rare why do people pay the above mentioned 80-100 bucks for it, not to mention asking prices of as much as 160 dollars on ebay??? -
Car song builds ?
PowerPlant replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've always wanted to build a car inspired by White Zombie's song Black Sunshine, only not a 64-65 Mustang like in the video, but something more beefy like a 69 Mach1 or some such thing... Shame the Revell kit is so incorrect "Gripping the wheel, his knuckles went white with desire. The wheels of his Mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45. True death: 400 horsepower of maximum performance piercing the night. This is black sunshine..." -

PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well then... I guess all the extra work and hassle with the kit are worth the difference of 50-70 bucks compared to a pristine example! And it's not exactly like I can pick and choose Jo-Han kits left and right anyway -

Thanks for all your replies, fellas Indeed, I do believe sourcing a single spare taillight could prove to be a problem, but then again, you never know as I do see Jo-Han spare parts occasionally pop up on ebay... It's just they're not too cheap, if I remember correctly a set of 68 taillights recently went for something like 10 bucks. Another option, I guess, should all else fail, is to scratchbuild one out of plastic (clear or not) and paint it silver/transparent red... Not a perfect solution, but could work well enough... As for the hood, I thought the same about it being a lot of work, especially if it is warped out of allignment with the rest of the body (which it doesn't seem to be), but... Even while the asking price for it isn't a REAL bargan, at just over 30 bucks shipped it's not too expensive either, and being a rare kit it seems like a worthwhile modelling challenge to take on this project... I guess I'll sleep on it and decide by morning hoping nobody beats me to it
