Just completed a great trade with Chris Sobak, aka Mooneyzs... And I have to say, not only did he send me more than I had originally asked for, but his package arrived at my end in record time, a couple of weeks ago, while mine took a whopping 35 days, until today, to reach him, which really is unusually long, so much so I started panicking that something has gone wrong in transit, but he never lost his patience and trust! Thanks once again, Chris, you truly are a great trader in every sense possible!

Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?

But never mind Cash and Reznor... I bet everyone thinks Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night" is one of his greatest original hits, right? Incorrect! Although there is some dispute, the original was composed in 1965 as an instrumental-only film score by German composer Bert Kaempfert, and first performed in 1966 by Croatian singer Ivo Robić as "Stranci u noći" in the Croatian language, and as "Fremde in der Nacht" in German, while Sinatra bought the rights to cover the song only a couple of months later, turning it into a huge international hit

Tamiya Mercedes 300SL Announced, new pics added to OP
PowerPlant replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I meant no offense, and if I came across rude in any way, please forgive me... I was merely stating my opinion that, in comparison with some other companies, Studio27 PE sets are usually way overpriced for what they have to offer... For example, I recently purchased Hobby Design sets for the Revell Uhlenhaut Coupe - a much rougher, less detailed kit than the Tamiya 300SL, and the new SLS... Both sets feature two extensive PE sheets each, at almost half the price of most Studio27 offerings, including this one. Again, this is just my two-cents - as they say, but judging by the sold-out status on HLJ after just one day on offer, many people disagree with me... -
Tamiya Mercedes 300SL Announced, new pics added to OP
PowerPlant replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It does say "out of stock", but HLJ has a pic: http://www.hlj.com/product/S27FP24176/Aut I'll have to wait until my kit arrives, and check it out, but knowing Tamiya's attention to detail and their frequent inclusion of excellent metal-transfers and mesh for the grille, I suspect this set might not actually be worth the silly money Studio27 wants for it. -
Some of you seem adamant about this being a Tamiya kit... Anyone have a pic of the Tamiya box? Just curious, because I was convinced this was an original Italeri release...
-
Tamiya? Isn't this the Italeri kit? Looks great either way!

Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?
PowerPlant replied to mustang1989's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Certainly not as weird as some of the stuff in this topic, but the "weirdest" kit I do actually have in my stash is this one: -
I just started the convertible a few days ago... Looks like a nice, detailed kit with many parts, but lots of flash to sand off of small pieces...
-
Nice color... Flames suit it well
-
Cool looking model, but it could use some chrome trim

I guess I better get rid of my crappy Revell kit while I still have a chance But, seriously, has an actual release date been announced yet? Apologies if I missed it somewhere in the previous discussion... -
Looks great so far! Does this kit feature a removable top/roof?

I have used actual self-adhesive automotive tinting foil before... Worked like a charm Like Bill, a.k.a Ace-Garageguy, I got pretty much a lifetime worth of scraps from a local tinting shop - too small for them to use, but perfect for cars in our scale

Revell Germany new VW Golf (Rabbit for you guys)
PowerPlant replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The earlier kits you are mentioning are the gen. 2 Golf, this one is a new tool of a gen. 1 -
Thanks for the info and suggestion... I never thought of looking him up on Facebook

Sad news, indeed... RIP mr. Cocker

Does anyone know what's up with Jim McCall, a.k.a. IMSANUT? He was interested in one of my trade items more than a month ago. He gave me an email address to contact him at, which I did, but I have not heard from him, and I see he has not logged on here, nor read my PM's since Nov 11th... I've also had some other interest for the item in question, but he had first dibs on it, so I'd like to resolve that situation before proceeding with other potential deals No one owes anyone anything, as we never actually finalized a deal, I'm just wondering if he's OK. Thanks, MATIJA

Anyone ever heard of ESCI models?
PowerPlant replied to buxxx69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have the SWB also, it's one of my favorite Ferraris, but this kit is easily one of the worst/incorrect models I've ever seen... I really wish Revell would finally release the old Italeri kit like they announced they would a couple years back. -
What kind of music.....
PowerPlant replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Always, and all sort of music, too... For me it's the best way to go through a new album, for example I cannot, however, listen to or watch football games whilst I work on a model, because I get way too excited and distracted LoL
