That does not look too shabby... The wheels are pretty bad as per usual for RoG, but I'm sure Hobby Design is tooling a replacement as we write this (I only wish they'd be more sensible with their pricing), and the color of the model is quite unfortunate and a bit dull, but I've seen the real car in yellow and it is a much nicer effect... Zero paints will most certainly mix up some colors according to factory codes As for the low parts count, yes, it is apparent that this kit won't be quite as detailed and spectacularly tooled as the SLS (I wonder if it features any detail whatsoever under the hood), but its proportions do look nice enough and it seems like it will be an easy, enjoyable kit to build, that'll look great on the shelf. I'm in line for one for sure

I am a bit confused as to which production year car this kit is meant to represent? It is not clearly stated anywhere on the box, and most every online source I found says 1976, but the box art car looks more like a 74... What gives? Thanks in advance

67 Eleanor transkit available?
PowerPlant replied to Devilsnake98's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Not quite a complete kit... You still need the AMT 67 Shelby for undercarriage, interior, rear lights and most of the engine to complete (unless you're going with something entirely different in terms of the powerplant, like I will be doing with mine )... But yes, an excellent transkit regardless... It sells like hotcakes whenever it is released, which is usually a very limited run, of literally a hundred or so, every couple of years on average... -
I appreciate Belkits' initiative of kitting some of these subjects, but I wish they would also do street cars...

Revell-Mercedes
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine is definitely the later release, with the white border box, and yes, there seems to be some tricky flash to deal with and the chrome looks a bit "dull", but I'll end up replacing it with Alclad anyway so it's not a major issue as far as I'm concerned -

I got mine as a second hand kit at an otherwise fairly pricey hobby shop for just over 5 bucks... It's unstarted and complete save for one door handle, but I'll deal with that somehow when I get to that stage I guess... -

From what I can tell, these Mercedes kits are indeed much more detailed than most Jo-Hans, they seem like "proper" model kits, not promo/annual based kits, so how come they are generally much cheaper and less sought after than Jo-Han's American cars? -

The more I look at it, the more I'm thinking... YES, PLEASE! And yes, a proper SSK would be nice, too. As for the Jo-Han 500K's, I have the Special Roadster unbuilt and it does seem like a nice kit indeed -

Indeed, since RoG just released the i8 (not so much my taste) recently, it would seem their licensing deals with BMW are pretty solid, and the two cars you mention seem like no-brainers, but oh well... Maybe some day... Fingers crossed. If the AMG GT turns out to be a snap-like pre-painted kit it will be a major letdown, especially compared to RoG's wonderfully tooled SLS kit. And, speaking of Revell's "Premium" kits... Really, whatever happened to some of these? Or these, for that matter: -
With all of the ongoing licensing issues between Revell and Ferrari, I'm glad to se that RoG seems to be maintaining good relations with Mercedes. The SLS kit they released a few years back was a turning point in their approach to kit engineering (in my opinion anyway), and I'm now really looking forward to the AMG GT announced for later this year... However, it would be nice to see them release some classic Mercedes cars that were never kitted before, such as the SL Pagode or the legendary AMG 300 SEL race car known as the "Red Pig"... Which Mercedes cars would you like to see kitted, by Revell or otherwise?
-
Before this thread strays way off topic... Is anyone of an opinion that Revell will still work on renewing their licensing agreements with Ferrari and eventually complete the release of announced kits (especially the 250 SWB), or is this the final nail in the coffin on that tool, so to speak?
-
Yeah, I figured as much, but still, jumping the gun like that and announcing the kit without having sealed the deal with Ferrari seems quite unprofessional of Revell - twice now!
-
There's been talk about this Escort for some time now... Shame Belkits only covers motorsport subjects, it would definitely be nice to have this as a road car as well, but then again, I guess converting one to street spec wouldn't be too difficult...
-
I understand, of course, I guess I should have elaborated my question... I meant, why does Revell make any announcements at all if they are not absolutely SURE they can and will in fact release the kit? In fairness, announcements were as vague as they can be, but still... And it's not the first time it's happened with this particular kit.
-
I KNEW IT!!! What an anti-climax... Licensing issues in the last minute yet again... Why do they keep doing this? And the entire time I was suspicious about it, despite your claims you've seen the kit done and ready for the market at the Telford show... I really have to learn to stop getting my hopes up about these announcements until I see hard plastic on the shelf. I guess it's back to searching for an affordable Italeri kit...

Models in the movies
PowerPlant replied to ReptileGuy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I recently saw the movie "Good Kill" in which Ethan Hawke plays a military pilot flying drones in Afghanistan, and in his spare time he builds Revell model kit aircraft with his son... There is a scene in which they open a Revell box together and lay parts out on the table... -
Revell (Germany) Ferrari 250SWB! New for October
PowerPlant replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks so much, Matt! Interesting box... I'd be surprised if that was indeed the final design but it is nice to finally see a glimpse of the parts layout, which definitely confirms it to be an Italeri reissue... YAY!!! I do not doubt your credibility the slightest bit, but where did you find the image if it's not a secret? I've been searching the internet like crazy for days -
Revell (Germany) Ferrari 250SWB! New for October
PowerPlant replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is it premature of me to become skeptical about this one by now, as there is still nothing online in terms of official confirmation, and rumoured release is just days away? I mean, we haven't even seen the box art yet, surely Revell would have that sorted out by now if they intended to release the kit anytime soon, and it wouldn't be the first time they pulled the plug on this one last minute... -
Official "Detail Junkees" Photo Etch Gallery
PowerPlant replied to dig's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Definitely, some very nice stuff! Among other things, I'm interested in PE grilles for the 39 Chevy and 76 Caprice from the photos you posted here, but can't find them anywhere on the site... How can these be ordered? Regards, MATIJA -
I sincerely doubt the little girl is really controlling the truck, but it sure is an effective, well edited commercial

Jo-Han 66 Olds Toronado question...
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for all your replies! The thing is, I'm not quite sure what I would do with the kit. I do enjoy restoring old models, especially if they are rare/out of production like the Jo-Han kits, but this specific car is not particularly appealing to me so flipping it is another option I am considering... -
Jo-Han 66 Olds Toronado question...
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the reply, Casey -
I have come across this kit for sale, but it is partially assembled, one windshield pillar is broken and seller cannot guarantee that it is 100% complete. So I was just wondering how rare/desirable/valuable this particular kit is... Just to know what sort of money to bid considering the state. Thanks in advance Regards, MATIJA

Revell Germany 2016, Q1 releases *PICS*
PowerPlant replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, a statement about the Ferrari SWB kit in the link above, which seems fairly legit, quite literally says "produced in cooperation with Italeri" - in German Either way, a new tool or Italeri re-box, I just hope it's for real this time... Fingers crossed!
